We Are Prospectors for Gold

We are gold prospectors. That is, we are prospectors for the gold of God’s truth. One cannot get out of this world with eternal life without truth. That is, each person has to find and then grasp with his or her heart (believe) that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God.

13 Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.
14 For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold. (Proverbs 3:13-14 NKJV)

Yes, for the believer, for anyone, the thing that propels us into true success in this life is God’s truth. Actually, look at the history, say, of technology. Obviously new advances have come with newly discovered truth. The light bulb came about when people discovered truths about the transmission of electricity and truths about the nature of certain metals, and truth about other things. It works exactly the same way in the spiritual realm. When we search out and apply truth through the Holy Spirit, we have success on this earthâ€â€spiritual success and success in every area in which God leads us.

What I am presenting here is a great often neglected “mother lode†of gold from the Word of God. It is about God’s covenant with us. We have very often not dug into the depths of the vast truth God has for us through His covenant with us.

What we need to see is that God is Someone who likes to make agreements. The Bible is basically the record of these agreementsâ€â€covenants. The main ones, of course, are the covenant with Abraham, the one on Sinai, and the New Covenant. The key to all three lies in the covenant with Abraham, when God says that Abraham believes God and it is accounted to him as righteousness (Gen. 15). This truth of righteousness by faith carries right over into the core of the New Covenant. Our righteousness comes by faith through the shed blood of Jesus. Those who believe in Jesus are totally transformed, given God’s own righteousness (2 Cor. 5) and thus eternal life. We are seated (now) with Jesus in heavenly places (Eph. 2). We have open access to the Father. The veil into the holy of holies has torn from top to bottom revealing that we can go boldly right now into the holy of holies to commune with the Father.

I have just scratched the surface of this great revelation God gives us about covenant. But one thing that should be easy to see here is that we can now come to know the Father. We can come to know the One behind the veil as He really is. And He is a God who keeps covenant. He fulfills His promises. We should clearly see that we should live in “covenant confidence,†that is, we go through life knowing God will take care of us. We live in the covenant that the God who makes covenants made with us.
