Ezekiel 27:2-4 “Now, thou son of man, take up a lamentation for Tyrus; And say unto Tyrus, ‘O thou that art situate at the entry of the sea, which art a merchant of the people for many isles, Thus saith the Lord God; ‘O Tyrus, thou hast said, ‘I am of perfect beauty.’ Thy borders are in the midst of the seas, thy builders have perfected thy beauty.

Tyrus is Satan and where is he? At the entry, or beginning, of the sea. The seas are symbolic of people...masses of humanity and Satan is where it all began when God first created mankind for Satan was there! What does he do? He is a merchant in that he buys and sells souls. He traffics in the slavery of the souls of God's children. He and his "builders" that perfect his wealth are smack dab in the "midst of the seas," or...in the middle of all of us. We see them everyday for they operate using....Politics, Finance, Education and Religion.

Daniel 11:43 But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt: and the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps.

The treasures of gold and silver are the souls of the children of Israel while the precious things of Egypt are the souls of the children of the world…all are God’s children. God has given him this power.

11:44 But tidings out of the east and out of the north shall trouble him: therefore he shall go forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many.

That sounds terrifying but how does Satan destroy, how does he take away many? Remember, he is the great deceiver.

Daniel 8:24 And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practice, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy People.

He makes war with the elect and he will kill the witnesses but his "war" is with deception. He will be pretending to be Christ.

Revelation 6:4 And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword.

Again...God gives him this power to deceive. He takes peace from the earth because everyone will believe he is Christ except the elect who will make a stand against him. Notice it isn't Satan swinging an axe, chopping heads off that do the killing but..."they should kill one another." This is spiritual killing done by false preachers and teachers that are misleading their congregations. The "great sword" is God's Word that he twists....just as he did in the garden.

Don't expect some evil dragon type man to be Satan. Realize he will be pretending to be Christ and using the Words of Christ but in a deceptive way.

Revelation 13:5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.

He is given power to use the great sword of God's Word by what he speaks....the words from his mouth will spiritually kill many.

13:7-8 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds and tongues, and nations. And all that dwell upon the earth SHALL WORSHIP HIM, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

Daniel 8:25 And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.

He destroys many by this peaceful deception of being a false christ.

Daniel 11:45 And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.

The “glorious holy mountain†is us….the body of Christ. Our bodies are our tabernacles, our tents, in this flesh life. As we are the tabernacles of God’s house…so does Satan have “tabernacles of his palace.†Satan places them, the tares, among the people of God.

What is meant by “between the seas in the glorious holy mountain?†“Seas†are symbolic of masses of people. Is the answer given in…..

Zechariah 14:8 And it shall be in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them toward the former sea, and half of them toward the hinder sea: in summer and winter shall it be.

“In that day†is…the day of the Lord, the millennium. His truth, the living waters, will flow to heal the nations. Where there is this separation of “between the seas†and “former and hinder sea,†I believe means that these healing, teaching waters will reach all of His children, including those on both sides of the gulf. They are those of the first resurrection and those that must be tested at the end of the millennium and then.....

Revelation 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Not only is 'Satan among us, he considers us HIS FAMILY, and he doesn't want to loose any children. Jesus says this in...

John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. KJV

We remain his child/children till the love of God in Jesus Christ changes that claim.

Ephesians 4:13-14
13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; KJV

So, the sea is a 'child', tossed to and fro by childish things. The word 'child' is similarly understood in the word 'former' as well. We are to put away childish things (1 Cor 13:11), elsewhere it says the former things pass away (Rev 21:4).

In favor of an a good ole bible study, how about some historical background on Tyrus.
Where was this city located?
What group of people lived there and what were their religious, and social beliefs?
What type of merchandise did they trade in?
Where did they get their merchandise from (I'm assuming they were in the shipping business)
Where they fair traders, or were they crooks?

You also stake clain that the sea is symbolic of people. How do you derive this out of the above scripture? Please provide your scripture with a proper exegesis.

Thanks, and looking forward to your reply :-)

Revelation 17:15 sea = people (waters = peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues.)

Rev 17:15
15 And he said to me, "The waters which you saw where the harlot sits,
are peoples and multitudes and nations and tongues. NASU

Hi Steve Bolts,

I see "Ret" has answered the "seas" question....thank you Ret! I would add that I believe that explanation of seas can and should apply to many Biblical references.

As far as Tyrus I know a little, very little :lol , about the historic site however my main interest is in the spiritual application of the scripture. Where it is written, "which art a merchant of the people," I see as the king of Tyrus (Satan) buying and selling souls, which of course is part and parcel of the beast.

Eccl 1:9
9 The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done
is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun. KJV

Zechariah 11:4-5
4 Thus saith the LORD my God; Feed the flock of the slaughter;
5 Whose possessors slay them, and hold themselves not guilty:
and they that sell them say, Blessed be the LORD; for I am rich:
and their own shepherds pity them not.
KJV

Revelation 18:10-18
10 Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas, that
great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.
11 And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for
no man buyeth their merchandise any more:

12 The merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and of pearls,
and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyine wood, and all
manner vessels of ivory, and all manner vessels of most precious wood,
and of brass, and iron, and marble,
13 And cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine,
and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses,
and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men.

14 And the fruits that thy soul lusted after are departed from thee, and
all things which were dainty and goodly are departed from thee, and
thou shalt find them no more at all.
15 The merchants of these things, which were made rich by her,
shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing,
16 And saying, Alas, alas, that great city, that was clothed in fine linen,
and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious stones, and pearls!

17 For in one hour so great riches is come to nought.
And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships,
and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off,
18 And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying,
What city is like unto this great city!
KJV

These thoughts are so overwhelming, it's hard to think about them,
except for considering the thought...this is just ahead of us today!

Thank you Ret,

That was an excellent gathering of Scripture that explains the merchant and what his merchandise is. :salute :-)
