Do you think humanities dependence on technology is weakening us ?

i know i feel insane after a few days without the internet....

It might in the direct sense. We pay a price for getting away from the farm. But in the ballance whenever the division of labor is broadend the overall effect is gain.

That is to say man gains more from the increasing specialization of medical doctors then he loses when the specialist is less bound to food production.


A tribesman might very well be stronger in many ways than the average American urban dweller. The urban dweller will likely have a longer, healthier life and a better chance of sharing that life with a greater number of individuals.

Do you have a period in time when you feel technology was not too much? Go back 100 years and we were just beginning to use internal combustion engines but we still had water and steam power. Had less idle time because we didn't have the means to move goods as efficiently as we do today but we still had a lot of technology. Go back even further and we still had the control of fire, the wheel, hand tools, weapons, etc. Go back even further and we still had clothing and we built shelter. If we think technology is bad, at what point did it get to be too much?
