Were you born into the Christian Faith?

Was your family, culture, predominantly Christian and you fell into it or were you raised as something else like a Muslim?

My family was atheist, I was born into it, then I started studying religion and science, and as it turns out we're right. Sorry if you had any misconceptions.

My parents are atheists, the rest are a mix of catholic and anglican. I was an atheist until I read the Gospel of Matthew.

I was taken to church by my mum, however we were not a religious family, by the age of 11 I stopped believing!

Good question. I was born into a nominal church family. My mother took me to church as a child. All I remember were colouring pictures and Bible "stories." My father, since he worked 6 days a week, strongly felt that Sunday was his day off to do what he wanted to do, and never set foot in church. My paternal grandmother, who lived with us, went to church just about every Sunday, and I remember her in her late 70's walking 1 1/4 miles to the bus line that would drop her off in front of the church. I don't remember my father/mother ever driving her!!!!!!!!!!!! She read her Bible every day and prayed daily. My mother is quite elderly now and just will not go to church, and has absolutely NO interest in the things of God. Her mother was like that---once a year to church on Good Friday, and that's it. My brother, nieces, nephews, cousins, on both sides---NONE of them have the least interest in the Lord or His ways.
Everybody always asks what planet I landed from!

I was born into a Catholic upbringing, then my Dad became a WCG'er from the Armstrong Era and went to church every Saturday and Sunday for 10 years, I was baptized in 92', and now Evangelical. I really do not like to associate to any organized religion due to error but more as a Christian due to His Error-less life.

I would say my family were nominally Christian, in that they believed, loosely, but did not practice churchgoing or similar.

I was born in the Christian faith. My father was an Elder of the church and taught Sunday School. My mother taught Sunday School and was the pianist for over 50 years.

Christian Faith? Means faith in Christ, right?

Let me ask about a CHURCH then? (call it what one desires!)
When a 'Faith' (Eph. 4:5's one faith) has Christ INSIDE of it, it is a Christian Faith. Agreed, most likely by most.

But, lets see that Christ can be removed, as in many verses? Isa. 59:1-2 or Josh. 7:12's last part of verse.

So now we see a Church empty of Christ. Now what does one call it?
Is it still a church? Is it still here? Is it still seen by Christians as being called Christian?

Just wondering about your thinking on that one? Then look up Rev. 18:4.

You quoted revelation, Look at the letters to the seven churches--Laodicea in particular--even tho they were void of the Spirit of God they were still addressed as a church!

Hay friend,
I am with you on that! Yet, it still states that they would be spewed out without repentance! :crying: :sad

Yep--Rev 3:20 is NOT about unbelievers receiving Jesus into their hearts, it's about backslidden believers returning to Christ!

My mother was an agnostic throughout most of my childhood. I became a Christian at age 17.

My parents were both atheist /agnosticish individuals. My dad more the atheist.
When I was 10 they agreed to take me to any church temple etc I wanted to go to. Of course I picked the synagog because it looked really cool. Then like ar really fancy church...
It all just never clicked with me, I found it boring and unbelievable (not in teh good way) I really liked science at the time, and I was liek "dinosaurs are cool, and they lived hundreds of millions of years ago, so.. they can't be right"

I also stopped believing in santa and the easter bunny around the same time...

My parents let me choose what I wanted, and said they would respect me 100% as long as it wasnt like a suicide cult.

When are you going to get out of that suicide cult you are in. Your choosing of death over eternal life is suicide.

Wow! That is quite a judgement call for anyone to make on that post :sad !
Or is it the person that is being 'attacked' & told that they are in a suicide cult? And what is said above to rate such a failing grade, and what is the name of this 'fold' that is a 'cult' requiring that all of its membership is are all going to receive eternal death?????? Romans 8:1???

Is thinking that the world is millions of years old the sin against the Holy Ghost? Verification please!

It is interesting how these threads ask for information about your being a Christian at its start, and then get set up for the 'suicidal' kill? Whatever?

And me? My 'seed sowing' came when I was taken at a very young age to the Federated church with a bible in my hand by a mother who taught sun school.
