What Bible Character Do You Most Relate To?

I figured I would add some "lightness" to the Board and ask an interdenominational question.

When reading the Bible, what character or person do you think describes you most?

To me it is Mary Maganalene. (although it's not proven if this was her or not) because she was totally surrendered to Jesus. He saved her from a life of nothingness, from sin , and her devotion to him as she annointed his feet with her perfumed oil from her albastar box, ( that she would never be able to use on a husband) is touching to me.

Mark 14:3-9;
3 And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head.
4 And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made?
5 For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured against her.
6 And Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me.
7 For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always.
8 She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying.
9 Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.

Luke 7:37-39;

37 And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment,
38 And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.
39 Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner.

I would say Apollos. I love to teach even though I may be off in some of my doctrines, but am open to correction.

I would have to say Cornelius.
God sent someone to my door in answer to my prayer.
Before I was a good person, who tried to be as kind to everyone as she knew how to, giving alms to the poor, and praying daily, but it took an answer to my prayer to bring me into the Grace of God.

I think I can relate most to Satan. He gets blamed for everything but there is absolutely no evidence to support the claim. The most you can accuse Satan of in the bible is temptation.

Throw in treason, extortion, lying, coveting, etc.

Why in the world would you want to even be associated with the father of lies?

Satan comes across as a scapegoat in the NT. In the OT, he is just an angel doing his job.

Quath got it wrong again.

Satan was not simply an angel doing his job! Satan rebelled against God! He lied and cheated his way into the minds of a third of the angellic host and tried to take over as god. When this failed he sought to get mankind to worship him as god--this he has been very succesfull at up to now---It won't last though!

If you read the OT, you will not ever find Satan disobeying God. You have to go to the NT for that. There is some Hell made for Satan but for some reason Satan is never there. Basically, Satan seemed to evolve from the Hebrews meeting the Persians and wanting a dual good/evil god like they had. That way they could have someone to blame besides God for their misfortunes. However, that was not the original character of Satan.

I would first say WHO CARES WHAT QUATH THINKS!

Then I would say that I think I woudl be most like Paul, though not as bold perhaps as him. He was a geat persecuter of the Church, I was not the nicest guy to church folk, then he was saved in a bamn boom way, so was I.

He was called to minister to gentiles, I was called to home church people that are very new and may have been hurt. They feel like out case, like a genitile was to the jew.

And like Paul I am passionate about false teachings, they break my hear and turn my stomache. I am very attimate about in teaching my people, I am proud to say that 99% of my people can spot a false teacher 10 miles off.

LOL actually I have inviting this Oneness minister to church to see how many people catch on to him, but he will not come. Becuase he does not think we are "real" Christians and tells me that I am going to hell.

Henry, that was uncalled for. Of course we care what Quath thinks. Why wouldn't we? Don't we want him to extend the same courtesy? We can't even expect that from Scott ie we continually diss' him.

Plus, this is in violation of rule #2.

No Flaming:
You will not post any messages that harass, insult, belittle, threaten or flame another member or guest. This will include misquoting another member out of context. You may discuss another member's beliefs but there will be no personal attacks on the member himself or herself. This includes implied accusations that another member is not a Christian.

This not only includes Quath, but also Rose, Eve or any other member one may disagree with.

Vic

I could care less what Quath thinks, he is just here to make a mockery. And I am sorry but I do not think that I am violating any rules in saying so. And I might add that those rules you listed have all happened to me time and time again.

So hey if you want to take credence of what this guys says, well go for it. But me, well I am not interested in being bated into his games and mockeries.

The Lord said not to toss your pearls before swine who would only trample them in the mud. I geuss Jesus would be in violation too?

Rose? Oh brother she has insulted me MANY times but what ever means nothing to me. The only thing that I have done is be constistant that Oneness doctrine is not biblical and not christian, if I was to say that about Mormonism no one would take issue, and when that Jahovas witness guy was here for a time, no had any problem with the MANY here that told him he was in a cult.

The rule is silly, and NO ONE adheres to it guy.

... back to the topic.......

Philip

One of the deacons in charge of food distribution. He left Jerusalem and like most "Jewish" Christians, spread the Gospel wherever he went but unlike most of them, he did not limit his audience to other Jews. He went directly to Samaria, the last place many Jews would go do to age-old prejudice.

Strengths
  • 1) One of the seven organizers of food distribution in the early church
    2) Became an evangelist, one of the first travelling missionaries
    3) One of the first to obey Jesus' command to take the gospel to all people
    4) A careful student of the Bible who could explain its meaning clearly
    5) Both mass evangelism (the Samaritans) and individual witness (the Ethiopian eunuch)
Key verse

"So Philip began with this same Scripture and then used many others to tell him the Good News about Jesus" (Acts 8:35)

Other verses about Philip

Acts 6:1-7; 8-5-40; 21:8-10

:) :)

I would hope to do half of what Philip achieved!

:D

I'll ask you as well. Please show me where in the bible you can accuse Satan of all these deeds. I don't want accusations from others , I want evidence that positively links Satan with what you accuse him of.

Satan didn't lie in the garden. Read Genesis. Everything came to pass as Satan said it would. God told the two idiots that if they ate of the tree of knowledge in that day they would surly die. Satan enticed them by saying that if they ate of the tree of knowledge they would become like Gods and not die. Well they ate and they did not die as Adam lived some 930 years. Adam and Eve did become like Gods and God complained as such. So again all you can accuse Satan of is temptation but everything he said was true as compared to what God said.

You don't want to be like Paul. He twisted the whole religion to suit his goals. There are countless contradictions with what Jesus said and what Paul says.

He was called to minister to gentiles, I was called to home church people that are very new and may have been hurt. They feel like out case, like a genitile was to the jew.
Called by whom? Only Paul can witness his vision , no one else. Paul makes a claim and the rest is history.

And like Paul I am passionate about false teachings, they break my hear and turn my stomache. I am very attimate about in teaching my people, I am proud to say that 99% of my people can spot a false teacher 10 miles off.
If anyone should know about false teachings Paul should.

Its amazing how many spirit filled Christians have so radically different interpretations of Gods word.LOL

I don't think it was Satan in the Garden. God curses the serpent to always crawl on its belly. But Satan is latter seen walking, so this curse was not applied to him.

Well you see there is the satanic trinity Satan the devil and the antichrist. (allot of people may not agree on me on this one lol) Satan copies everything that God has. Think carefully reznwerks which of these do you consider yourself.

I consider my self to be a goliwog man however much to my dis appointment that isnt in the bible :crying: LOLBeing serious i would say ballams donkey
