What Did Jesus Look Like?

Yeah, I can dig that! Possibly. There are several respectable ministries that believe in the shroud, and the image looks like what I would expect. It is of a man that is not overly handsome (as predicted in Isaiah 53) and just common looking, but yet similar to the racial characteristics of Judah and the royal lineage today.

Personally, my jury is out yet on the shroud. I will not say either way, although it is very fascinating. Thanks for sharing that.

As a woman, I would wonder about the "not overly handsome" comment. Sorry, but this guy is incredibly handsome! And handsome in a very European rather than Middle Eastern way. I would have a hard time believing that this is what Isaiah meant when he said the messiah would have "no stately form or majesty that we should look upon Him nor appearance that we should be attracted to Him." The face in the video is stately, majestic and I think more than a few women would be more than attracted to Him.

Even though the representation of Jesus on it is just as subjective of any other representation of Him, the video is pretty cool. I have watched several in-depth documentaries on the shroud and there are some rather facinating things about it. Jury is still out with me as well.

I have to second that with the handsome state. I found HIM quite beautiful and I too checked out the blogs on the Shroud of Turin. Found them very interesting, but could understand why the carbon dating was inconclusive with it being in a fire in the 1500's. I found it interesting that one doctor/scientist found evidence of swelling, flogging, wounds, and blood in the hair from examining the shroud....even matched up the metal barbells tied to the leather closely matched the wounds found on HIM on the shroud. Some seem pretty sure who are examining it.......personally I'm having a hard time wrapping my brain around it, but my spirit longs for it to be true for non-believers. But I do have questions how we would be able to make something like that back then, or even a 100 years ago when our technology can't replicate it now in our time. I'm more abp to believe the Arc of the Covenant in Ethiopia, or even UFO's (since me and my family saw a very large disc when I was 14 in Lomita California). We all about trampled each other trying to get in the front door at the same time. We probably looked like the 5 stooges. LOL Plus we had a very weird experience after that....that left us all stupified afterwards, especially me. Been thinking about getting hypnotized if I could find someone I could trust. Something I've carried with me all these years that's kind of haunted me.

Anyway, sorry went down a rabbit hole.....I don't need evidence of the Holy Grail, or the Shroud of Turin, or the Arc of the Covenant to know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God or that HE exist. But one thing keeps rising up in my spirit, is why would something like that exist for so many hundred of years if God didn't want to give man proof of HIS Son existence to the doubters. Surely it glorifies no one but Christ, and give all the Darwins something to tweek their brains over.....maybe it's God's way to reach the scientist in their rational/logical/scientific minds. Go figure...

It wouldn't surprise me at all if the shroud does turn out to be exactly what believers have said it is. As I mentioned before, I've watched a number of documentaries on it and it is very facinating. It seems as though more and more evidence comes up to authenticate it. This video is just one more piece to the puzzle.

Regarding the image one of the documentaries I watched did a facial structure comparision of the image on the shroud to the earliest known protraits of Jesus. They measured things like the distance of the eyes and brow structure and cheekbones and things like that. And, it did seem to match up. Plus, the earliest protraits were very similiar to each other, given the fact that individual artists did them, often separated by time and geography. It was just another thing that seems to authenticate the shroud as well.

I'll try to find the information about the protraits and if I can, I'll post it here. It was pretty interesting.

LOVE the Internet! Here is a link showing the comparision of an early protrait of Christ and the image on the shroud.

http://www.shroudofturin4journalists.co ... crator.htm

The protrait of Christ the Pantocrator is from Saint Catherine's monastary built between 527 and 565. The protrait itself is dated as being from the 6th or 7th century. I tried to find a link to the documentary I watched and couldn't but still this link shows the general idea.

One thing about this represtentation of Christ is that it's not as European nor as handsome as some of the later representations. Looks far more like the suffering servant/savior that Isaiah spoke of.

Naturally it's almost impossible to authenticate the shroud by comparing it to protraits like this, but it's interesting to me nonetheless.

I thought the shroud had already been proven to be a fake, based upon carbon dating?

Oh my gosh Dora that was awesome, I'm going back to check out the other blogs on it. Thanks, man that was awesome!!!!

Now the reason why the carbon dating is not conclusive Orion, is that the Shroud of Turin was in a fire in the 1500's.....so basicly this is what they were dating off the surface of the shroud. But if you check out the url I left and Dora left, plus if you go to youtube.com and search for the Shroud of Turin they will take you to quite of an assortment of blogs on the subject. Check it out Orion, there's some neat stuff. But be careful they can take you down rabbit holes from the subject you're checking out real easy.

Got to go back and check out this stuff Dora left an url for.......interesting indeed.

It was exposed to a fire that almost destroyed it and may have contaminated the fabric with carbon monoxide altering it's carbon dating "fingerprint". The sample used was from a more recently patched area of the shroud. And there's speculation about it's storage which could also introduce carbon monoxide. In view of all these variables further investigation is ongoing.

Hey I had to add this question real quick cause this picture reminded me of the mosaic they found next to the Valley of Armageddon at a prison of the first christian church established (I believe 3 hundred in something) about a year ago on CNN News. They were breaking ground to add on to the prison and when they did, they exposed the mosiac. Did anyone else see it? And the question is what would I look under to find it on the net?

Kudos HIM,
Carol......................Thanks

WOWWWWWWWWW Thanks Dora....awesome! The Shroud of Turin, that information really tipped the scales for me....that really put it over the edge of belief for me. After that study and with the information I already knew......that is about one sandwich short of convincing me totally. Still just alittle hesitant, but really leaning toward it as being what they say it is after reading all that. This Shroud has been dominate [throughout history] as being accepted as the linen of Jesus Christ. If not then why was it such a dominate treasure to confiscate, along with the silver/gold along with other treasures to blummage? To some the shroud was more important in the blummaging.

Anyone yet know what I'm talkiing about with the mosaic found at the prison at the Valley of Armageddon? Don't mean to be pushy, just can't seem to find it myself. Maybe someone knows something I don't on it.

Kudos HIM,
Carol <><
