Growth What Did Jesus Preach?

The OP of this thread does not fit the guidelines for the Apologetics and Theology forum: "Original posts should reference specific scripture and what it is the member wants to say or ask about that scripture." The concept of what did Jesus preach seems like a foundational topic of Christianity, so I am moving this to the Foundations of Faith forum. Please keep in mind that the Foundation of Faith forum is not a debate forum. If you want to have a theological debate on this subject, please follow the A&T guidelines.

John 3:17-21 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. This is the verdict: Light has come into the world (Jesus talking about himself), but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."

Jesus preached many things.

Luk 18:20 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.

Luk 18:22 . . . sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor: . . and come, follow me.

Luk 10:37 . . Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

Found one,
If your parents are willing you can begin to restore your relationship with them. All you have to do is apologize for the past and go from there? A long time ago i said some things to my parents, that were not nice. However after i grew up i apologized for being so harsh. We all make mistakes and if we repent when we do then things turn out for the better!
Many blessings to you my friend!

Repent for the kingdom of God is at hand.

That's the Gospel of the Kingdom of God.

JLB

Actually the gospel of the Kingdom of God is His ways of doing things and being right, and teaching others to walk in them, by example, and by speaking. And i believe that one of the ways we begin is to repent of our sins and walk in newness of life.

He is teaching me through the written word how I can be all that the Father has created me to be. Teaching me how to get to the place to where I can fulfill His plan for my life. He is teaching me how to be just like Him.

The "Gospel" is that we have to repent? I thought the Gospel was that our sins could be forgiven and we can be saved?

From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." Matthew 4:17

What Jesus came and preached was the Gospel of the Kingdom, saying Repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand.

He taught His disciples many things, about how the Kingdom of God is.

He preached the Gospel of the Kingdom.

Before one can receive truth and understanding, that person must turn from their Lord whom they are serving, [Satan] and turn to God, the King of the kingdom of God, and confess Him as Lord and be transferred or translated out of Satan's kingdom God's kingdom.

In ancient times, when a king wanted to conquer another kingdom, he would travel with his army to the kingdom and city where the king of the other kingdom dwelled and surround the city of the king.

They would cut off any supplies on reinforcements with a vast army, laying siege to the city.

The king or the commander of the army would then announce the "gospel of the kingdom", which were the terms of surrender.

Something like this -

The kingdom of Babylon is at hand, turn away from the king you are serving and confess the king of Babylon as your lord and serve him, or you will perish with him.

This usually meant a life of slavery in service to the conquering king, which in some case's the people would rather die than live as slaves.

The point is: the kingdom under siege would have to "repent", which was to turn away from the king they were serving and bow their knee to the conquering kingdom and confess the new king as their king and master and serve this new king or die.

The Gospel of the Kingdom of God that says repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand, means we turn from the kingdom of darkness and the king of that kingdom, [Satan] because he has been set apart for destruction, as well as all who follow him.

He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love... Colossians 1:13

We must confess Jesus as Lord, and obey what Jesus says.

Which is why Jesus says - But why do you call Me 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do the things which I say? Luke 6:46

I think Gospel just means "good news" and there's lots of Good News in what Jesus taught, so I'd say that repentance is part of the gospel. Grace, mercy, and forgiveness are also parts of the gospel. Judgment, obedience, and discipline are also parts of the gospel.

The tricky part is in working out how all of those things fit together to make up "The Kingdom of heaven" and all the various situations we find ourselves in.

He preached the gospel that the kingdom of God was at hand. He just happens to be the Door to enter in.
Matt 4:23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.
KJV
Mark 1:15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
KJV
Matt 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
KJV
Matt 11:5 The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.
KJV

II Chronicles 7:14, and Acts 2:38 is for everyone is my thinking. The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent, ... Acts 17:30.
