What are some things you like or dislike about your church?

I'll go first:
- I like that our church is honestly seeking God in prayer and repentance
- I like that our church is reaching out and helping people in need
- I like that our church has a leadership with an open mind
- I like that my church welcomes and nurtures people of all ages

- I don't like all the sermons: some could be better prepared
- I don't like gossip, and that happens in church sometimes
- I don't like that I live 28 miles from my church :sad

I thank God for our church, and for our pastors

-My Church was founded by Jesus Christ
-My Church created the bible
-My Church is protected by the Holy Spirit
-My Church teaches what is revealed to her by God, not merely what men think the bible says
-My Church has never retracted any teachings in 2000 years
-We have 1.1 billion members of our congregation
-I can go to my Church virtually anywhere in the world
-My Church has the sacraments, means of receiving God's grace, beyond baptism
-When Jesus said "This is My Body", He meant it, so He is physically present at every Mass.

My church is 100% perfect in every way because it belongs to God.

Well, I have not found a perfect church, yet, and I'm sure that If I ever do it won't be perfect anymore, once I get there.
What I like about my church is that they believe in the gospel of Jesus, with signs following.
What I dislike is the gossip. I find that in every church and no matter how much the preacher preaches on it no one seems to get it. You know, they think if it's the truth about someone then it is not gossip.

cool beans!

Church...well. How bout this? I'm a Christian who doesnt go to church. I study the bible tho, and pray. I think that its a bad thing that im not a member of a church, but it seems basically impossible for me to go to one... Firstly i live in the middle of no-where....

The church my parents go to, (and which i use to go to) i got absolutely nothing out of. It was all in ancient greek language, and i couldnt comprehend anything which was going on. The people were not too overly friendly either. There was absolutely no young people....infact everyone was old! I sat there, and stared into space, while the men would mumble words which i could not understand, and the priest would read a passage during the end which i couldnt understand!

It seemed to turn me away. There was no worship, no praisful singing.... It was just blah.

Good post Von. Not a speck of pride in your words. I agree with the gossip statement. Sometimes even prayer sessions and Bible studies fall prey to this. I too, have found myself subjected to this. :sad

allright, I gather you are catholic :)

I was actually reffering to the actual church you are attending.

I actually dissagree with a few of your statements:
- your church created the Bible? :sad check your history a little bit.

Sputnik: If you don't mind my asking, _Apple_, where are you located ...geographically speaking? I'm presently (probably permanently) located in North Queensland ...Townsville actually.

_Apple_ I understand your dilemma. It is hard to find a church these days that preaches the truth and I hate a boring church also. It's just not the same as it was years ago. It is very hard to keep your strength up with no church to go to. Hang in there.

things i like about the builing in which the church meets and the church itself.
~the building is gd as its not a building that is yelling I'm a church building, I'm old... if u know wot i mean. it s kinda like sayin that the buildin doesn't mater its the people inside
~its not so big that i don't know almost every1 who goes. I mean i understand that its gd 2 hav alot of people but in our church its important 2 know most of them and we r all like 1 huge family as every1 knows each other and can all talk 2 each other ...
~Margret Walace. A great lady u can tell priti much everything 2 and get comfort from. Who doesn't care hw she looks as she knows she doesn't hav 2 impress any1
~the things that they hav 4 the young people 2 do/go 2 eg YF, JAM time, etc
~ and lots of other things but not really any bad things
in my oppinion i don't just go 2 church 4 praising God although thats a big part but i go 2 meet with my family and hate when i'm not there. I think its important also 2 know who the christians r when u r @ school which is wot YF and level 1 r 4. :-D

my church

I know this will sound rotten but here goes:

I don't like:
The church is boring, we have a regular schedule that everything happens at a particular time. The worship is boring because the songleader has been singing the same songs for all my life, and we don't even have a proper preacher. We listen to a tape of another preacher from another church (this is because no one in the church believes God has set them to be the preacher / pastor)

I know people will probably say that I seem to be a bit conceited or something and they're probably true but it is boring and we need some sort of revival thing to liven it up again.

My parish is merely part of my Church. I sometimes go to two different parishes, but it is really the same Church :)

Sure, the Holy Spirit inspired it, the apostles wrote it and their successors canonized it and labelled it authorative.

ok, whatever...

the apostoles did NOT write the bible.
Yes, the New Testament books were written by apostoles, but the Bible as a whole was not.

Who wrote Genesis? Who wrote the Psalms?

Let's be realistic here.

I do not think there is any denomination that can claim they "wrote" the Bible.

:bday:

Oooh, Aussie! Erm, I live in South Australia... In a small town. Ive been here for a large majority of my life, and hope to change locations oneday. Seems impossible, cause of work...but o well..

Thanks for the kind response there, mate! It is difficult, but i try and study, on my own... I suppose its not the best way to learn Gods word, a Church would be better... but hopefully one day when i move, things will change.
