What do you think of Jesus' teachings?

I believe Jesus' teachings are much more superior than any other religion. I have my own opinion why. Of course besides Messiah-ship. I would like eveyone's thought on this too.

Well, no one wants to perticipate in this thread so will I just go ahead in my bottom line.

I will skip about the main porpose of His existance since most of us know about it.

"Love your enemy"
I believe Jesus is the only one who tells it to the world, but most of us don't seems to understand it. This is the most difficult one for us because we are so selfish naturally.

I'm just going to go right ahead and talk about how we are being inconsistant about this teaching.

Many Christians join the military and churches approve of it. If we are doing the same thing as the rest of the world (approving of joining the military) how can we be His true witnesses? We cannot be His messengers by being one of the world. We have to show His "love" by loving our enemy.

He never carried guns. His sword is the Bible. His soldiers don't carry around guns. He wants us to concentrate on spreading the good news. His soldiers won't get payed to do His will. They even die for spreading the Truth. Many of us don't even know there are many persecuted Christians in many countries. While we are arguing about OSAS and other theologies, many faithful ones are hard at work. Many of them get tortured and imprisoned if they are found spreading the Truth.

Compared to them most of us are playing Christian. We are deceiving ourselves and others at His expense.

This is my last conviction I had to convey for Him.

May God help us to be true to Him with all of our heart, soul, strength and mind.

like something I read from C. S. Lewis once, in regard to those that say Jesus was a great Teacher (or Example). He said Jesus was NOT a great teacher. He was either Lunatic, Liar, or Lord. It is His being our Lord, not our great teacher, that should make a difference in our lives. Yes, He taught in ways unlike any other. But that should not be our emphasis. He is Lord.

We do a disservice to the Gospel, to other humans, and to God when we emphasize His teaching abilities and examples over His Lordship.

Being Lord is something that we can NEVER follow. We can only fall at His feet and worship Him. And that, according to Phillipians chapter 2, is what all creation will ultimately do. Let's beat the rest of creation to the punch, and start calling Him Lord, NOW.

PS..I know you are from Japan, by your name. I lived in Japan. Now I live in China.

Did I say anything against His will? I don't understand sarcastic remarks or vague expressions. I appreciate it if you make your comments in simple terms.

Servant,

If you are in China, you should know about undergraound churches. Do you?

I would like to add that those persecuted servants are not getting much support from rich Christians. Jesus tells us to carry each other's burdens. Why don't we understand and practice this simple teaching? While we know so much about difficult theologies, we cannot practice simple teachings.

Hitomi-You do as well as anyone here with the English language. I would never have know otherwise. It's been said many times that history repeats itself and if you've never read Foxe's Book of Martyrs I encourage you to do so. We are a very spoiled country in that we have never suffered persecution for having a bible in our home or have never been rounded up and tortured/killed for attending a church service. During times of persecution most true Christians went underground to escape sure death simply because they believed in the God of the bible and wouldn't bow the knee to the existing forces of evil that surrounded them.

Many churches have missionaries that go to vaious countries (including China, Japan, Russia, the Philippines, etc) to spread the Good News of our resurrected Lord. Many have been tortured and killed for their efforts. I'm talking about the 20th Century...not 16th Century Europe (although it occured there as well). Even Christians in China today are put into forced labor camps if caught and, I'm sure in North Korea, Cuba, etc., it's the same scenario. Americans are spoiled indeed and take much for granted.

D46, I have read that book too. that's why I know so much about situations of persecuted servants. I also know that we can do much much better to help them out if we want to. Churches and pastors are not talking about persecuted Christians and what they need because they are getting just enough to pay pastors' salaries and new buildings and building upkeep. I have been spraeding this truth and have been avoided and ignored everywhere I go. I still keep on spreading what we are and aren't doing as Christians. I am spreading the truth for true followers who want to know the truth about the fruit of our Christianity.

You're absolutely right...and that's sad indeed. People get into their "comfort zone" and don't like anyone/anything rocking their boat of contentment. It's listen to three songs and a sermon, shake the preacher's hand and head off to McDonald's or KFC after church and then home to kick back and watch TV and/or take a nap. Yep-spoiled, indeed. The vast majority of preachers don't want to speak on anything that may cause turmoil ,dissention or anything that would be "politically incorrect" these days for fear of loosing congregational members and hence, part of their livlihood. They too, have become complacent. We all have a "let someone else do it" mentality that someday may boil down to us.

I have been spraeding this truth and have been avoided and ignored everywhere I go. I still keep on spreading what we are and aren't doing as Christians. I am spreading the truth for true followers who want to know the truth about the fruit of our Christianity.

You're to be commended for this and may the Lord reward you openly and according to your efforts. Don't give up on this and remember...they rejected Jesus for his teachings as well. Paul, as you know was stoned and run out of town more than once for the glory of God.

2 Corinthians 11:25 (KJV) Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep;
