What Do You Think Of This

I agree, Lewis W . It's ever more popular to bash all aspects of Christianity while, at the same time, promote false religions and false gods.

As children of our Lord, we must stand firmly in our faith, and to speak the truths of our Lord. At the same time, support has to be stopped for ministers who seek to belittle our Lord.

Another supposed friend of our Lord. In this day Martin might be compared to Judas; even to the taking of money writing of Him. His subtlety is an art in raising doubt, and of course I believe his reward will be fitting. :shrug

And look at the collar of the dude that said this stuff.

I don't see anything wrong with what he said. All 5 points are supported by Scripture.

I am not nor have never been Catholic.I would tend to shy away from any Catholic beliefs or statements.

And apparently a mind reader in order to know points 2,4, and 5. He quotes other scriptures to make his case, but the bottom line is those are his interpretations.

Or maybe he just read what the Bible says...

2.) Jessus probably didn’t know everything.

But concerning that day or that hour, no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. (Mark 13:32 ESV)
5.) Jesus didn’t want to die.

And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt. (Mark 14:36 ESV)
4.) Jesus needed “me time.”

Although there aren't any verses as clear as those above that support this statement, we do know that Jesus often withdrew from the crowds and even his disciples, as the article states. That he did this because he needed to spend time alone with his Father is not an illogical interpretation.

OK, you're right on point 2. I don't agree with that Jesuit Pastor's interpretations, but I see now that Jesus indeed said there was something he himself didn't know.
Point 4 and 5 still require mind reading. Jesus motivation for asking to take away the cup or withdrawing from a crowd is privileged information. That he didn't want to die or wanted "me time" is just one of many possible reasons.

These points all sound like speculation.

But since both those things (fear of dying and needing time on one's own) are very common to all humans and Jesus was a human being his interpretations are the most likely motivations behind Jesus' prayer in Gethsemane and His temporary social withdrawal.
I - and actually everyone I've been talking to about that - always understood His prayer to take away the cup as Jesus' struggle with the very human fear of death. Although He may have willingly accepted that fate to save us a part of Him was obviously scared, at least in that moment.

Whether that guy is a catholic or not should be secondary to the things he says. I'm not a fan of catholicism, but throughout history individual catholics have been true followers of God.

Even though I know all of those Scriptures' there is just something about the way he said it' that I don't like.

It's a peice for CNN, a general observation of the humanity of Christ. I don't see a problem with it.
Hi Danus, thanks for that. I can be too critical sometimes. I've said to my wife many times I'd rather see a hundred shows/articles/books/pastors that I don't agree with 100% but are positive than one show/article/book/etc that is completely anti-Christian. So CNN highlights the humanity of Christ without consulting me personally. :nag
