In talking to a lost person what should we tell them. What about my testimony? I have a wonderful testimony you know. What about my knowledge, I have almost 45 years of Bible study to draw upon.
Here now is your chance to state, what do you think that the lost need to hear?

Is the purpose to show how great we are or to show how great GOD is. While you might have a 'wonderful testimony' (whatever that means) - it doesn't mean that a person who has less of a "wonderful testimony" cannot be an effective. Because ultimately it is about the Holy Spirit - not us.

We do not save anyone. We do not convict anyone. We need to be thankful to be apart of the process, but recognize that it is not OUR efforts, but the efforst of the Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit alone.

I totally agree with your post. A friend of mine has said that personal testimony used in witnessing to the lost is merely an individual bragging about what the Lord has done for them. The lost are not interested in what the Lord has done for you or me, the loss lost are interested in in what the Lord can do for them. The lost or not interested in what little knowledge I have. No! The lost are interested in how they can be saved. And a clear message as to how they can be saved is the most important message we can deliver when we are witness to the lost.

It is totally contengent on the person or persons that you are trying to reach, how much time you sre allowed, and ultimately how much prayer you have put into the mission (how far are you willing to let God take you).

Reaching a co-worker who is confiding in you about personal burdens, reaching an auditorium with an assortment of people from all walks of life, reaching a Sunday School room full of 4 year olds, and reaching a jungle village who have no written language, will all be approached differently.

God knows how He wants to use you. Being available, telling Him where you would like to be used, and allowing Him to send you are all key.
