Hi :smt006

can someone please tell me what christians believe about why Islam was sent to us?

does it say anywhere in the bible that there would be another religion (Islam)?

I have read through some other threads here but i haven't seen any where this has been discussed before, so if it has could you please point me to that thread :)

Thank you & Happy Easter to you all :)

Here is some prophecies about the coming of the holy prophet of God , Muhammad(SAW), and pilgrimage in Bible.

Isaiah
60:1 Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.
60:2 For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.
60:3 And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.
60:4 Lift up thine eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee: thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be nursed at thy side.
60:5 Then thou shalt see, and flow together, and thine heart shall fear, and be enlarged; because the abundance of the sea shall be converted unto thee, the forces of the Gentiles shall come unto thee.
60:6 The multitude of camels shall cover thee, the dromedaries of Midian and Ephah; all they from Sheba shall come: they shall bring gold and incense; and they shall shew forth the praises of the LORD.
60:7 All the flocks of Kedar shall be gathered together unto thee, the rams of Nebaioth shall minister unto thee: they shall come up with acceptance on mine altar, and I will glorify the house of my glory.

In Isaiah 60:1-7, A prophecy about a Holy man (prophet) bringing the light of God to the world. This holy man would appear in a time of darkness filling the world and covering the earth, He would appear to eliminate the darkness and spread the light of God and his praises.

In Isaiah 60:3 we read "And the Gentiles shall come to thy light ", and that means this Holy Prophet would arise among the Gentiles and his Light would fill his place where the nations would come and visit.

In Isaiah 60:4, we find the people would come from far, the sons and daughters, all would come together for the Light.

In Isaiah 60:5-6 it keeps telling us about the coming of the people from all over the world to the Light.

In Isaiah 60:7, is the clear meaning, it's Kedar (Mekka) , Where its flocks and tribes would be gathered together under the light of God, "they would come up with acceptance on mine altar" (Note: Muslims during the Hajj "pilgrimage" they slaughter the sacrifices as one of the ceremonies and Muslims all over the world share that from their places which is called Eid Al Adha).

"And I Will glorify the house of my glory", and it refers to the Ka'ba in Mekka , the Sacred House for God's glory."

And this prophecy is mentioned in Qur'an :

Surah Al Hajj (the pilgrimage) 22,

26. Behold! We gave the site, to Abraham, of the (Sacred) House, (saying): "Associate not anything (in worship) with Me; and sanctify My House for those who compass it round, or stand up, or bow, or prostrate themselves (therein in prayer).

27. "And proclaim the Pilgrimage among men: they will come to thee on foot and (mounted) on every kind of camel, lean on account of journeys through deep and distant mountain highways; "
(The Noble Quran, 22:26-27)

About "Prophet like unto Moses":

In Deuteronomy 18:18 We find God said to Moses the following:

"I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him."

Regarding this verse, Christians used to interpret it as a prophecy about the coming of the Messiah, and Christian missionaries used to invent so many things to prove the similarity between Jesus and Moses (peace be upon them),but it's self-refuting claim, as it can be refuted by a single verse from Deuteronomy, let's read..

Deuteronomy 34:10 And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face,

So this verse from Deuteronomy refutes the claim of "Prophet like unto Moses" to be Jesus (peace be upon them) as Jesus was one of the Prophets of Israel.

Here is another Prophecy from the Bible,

Micah
4:1 But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it.
4:2 And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

In Micah 4:1-2, We find a prophecy would come to pass in the last days, It's a prophecy about a Mountain of the House of the Lord, The people would flow unto it, And Nations would come to it, It's the Mountain of God.

Where is the House of God?; Where is the Mountain of God?, And Who are the people who would flow unto it?

The answer is only one; It's a prophecy about the Hajj (Pilgrimage) and one of its ceremonies, Standing upon Arafat, which is the main ceremony of the pilgrimage, as the Prophet (SAW) said: "Al Hajj (Pilgrimage) is Arafat".

The House of God is Al Ka'ba, The mountain of God is Arafat, and the people who would flow unto it are the Muslims.

Allah says in Qur'an , Surah Al-Baqara (The Cow) 2;

198. It is no crime in you if ye seek of the bounty of your Lord (during pilgrimage). Then when ye pour down from (Mount) Arafat, celebrate the praises of Allah at the Sacred Monument, and celebrate His praises as He has directed you, even though, before this, ye went astray.
(The Noble Quran, 2:198

Isaiah's vision:

Isaiah saw a vision of two riders.

"And he saw a chariot [with] a couple of horsemen, a chariot of asses, [and] a chariot of camels .." (Isaiah 21:7)

Who was the rider upon the ass? Every Sunday school student will tell us that this was a prophecy of Jesus (peace be upon him), as stated in John:

"And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written," (John 12:14)

but who is the promised prophet who would ride the camel? If it is not Muhammad (peace be upon him) then this prophecy has yet to be fulfilled. Let us read on...

"And, behold, here cometh a chariot of men, [with] a couple of horsemen. And he answered and said, Babylon is fallen, is fallen; and all the graven images of her gods he hath broken unto the ground." (Isaiah 21:9)

Babylon did indeed fall before Islam and the Islamic nation under the guidance of Muhammad (peace be upon him) did indeed succeed in eradicating the worship of idols from Babylon replacing it with the worship of God alone. In fact, the Muslims were the only believers in the God of Isaiah to ever succeed in fulfilling this prophesy.

"The burden upon Arabia ..." (Isaiah 21:13)

What does the word "burden" mean? Let us ask the Scofield Study Bible:

"…which also means an oracle is a word sometimes used in the prophetical writings to indicate a divine message of judgment" (Scofield Study Bible New King James Version, note 1, p. 792)

So the Muslims of Arabia (and subsequently Muslims everywhere) would be assigned the burden of God's message.

"The inhabitants of the land of Tema brought water to him that was thirsty, they prevented with their bread him that fled. For they fled from the swords, from the drawn sword, and from the bent bow, and from the grievousness of war" (Isaiah 21:14-15)

In "The Dictionary of the Bible," bearing the Nihil Obstat, Imprimatur, and Imprimi Potest (official Church seals of approval), by John McKenzi, we read that "Tema" is:

"a place name and tribal name of Arabia; a son of Ishmael.... The name survives in Teima, an oasis of the part of the Arabian desert called the Nefud in N Central Arabia."

This word, Tema, is the name of the ninth son of Ishmael (the father of the Arabs), in Genesis 25:13-15 we read:

"And these are the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, according to their generations: the firstborn of Ishmael, Nebajoth; and Kedar, and Adbeel, and Mibsam, And Mishma, and Dumah, and Massa, Hadar, and Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah" (Genesis 25:13-15).

Strong's concordance tells us that this name was also applied to the land settled by Tema the son of Ishmael. It goes on to explain how this word is "probably of foreign derivation". Indeed, this word, Teima, is an Arabic word which means "Barren desert". It remains the name of a city in the Arabian peninsula just north of "Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah," or "Madinah" for short (Please see Map 1, page 491). Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his companions were given sanction to migrate. They departed Makkah during the night and left all of their possessions behind. Upon reaching Madinah they were greeted by its citizens with open arms and Muhammad (peace be upon him) assigned each one of the Muhajireen (citizens of Makkah) to one of the Ansar (citizens of Madinah) to house and feed them until they could strike out on their own. This became the first year of the Arab "Hijra" (Emigration) calendar used in Islamic countries to this day.

"For thus hath the LORD said unto me, Within a year, according to the years of an hireling, and all the glory of Kedar shall fail. And the residue of the number of archers, the mighty men of the children of Kedar, shall be diminished: for the LORD God of Israel hath spoken [it]." (Isaiah 21:16-17)

Kedar is the second son of Ishmael, the father of the Arabs:

"And these are the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, according to their generations: the firstborn of Ishmael, Nebajoth; and Kedar, and Adbeel, and Mibsam." (Genesis 25:13)

Kedar is also synonymous with all of Arabia in general, as in Ezekiel:

"Arabia, and all the princes of Kedar." (Ezekiel 27:21)

The Arabs of Makkah, the capital of the paganistic tribes of Arabia of the day, were indeed defeated by the Muslims in the second year after their forced immigration from Makkah to Madinah (The Hijra). This victory signaled the turning point for Islam and a transition from a position of weakness to one of power and victory .

It should be pointed out here that, as mentioned at the beginning of this chapter, the children of Israel, from the tribe of Levi, were distinctly aware of this prophesy. Indeed this is the very reason why they had begun to immigrate from the lush and fertile pastures of their holy land of Israel to the barren parched deserts of Arabia, specifically to Madinah and the surrounding areas of Khaibar, Tema, and others. Because they knew that this is where the final prophet would appear. As mentioned above, these children of the Jews were constantly threatening the Arab inhabitants of Madinah (the tribes of Al-Aws and Al-Kazraj) with his impending arrival and how they would follow him and, through his leadership, they would utterly destroy these Arabs. They had hoped that this prophet would be from their tribe and that their presence in this location might facilitate this hope.

When their awaited prophet finally did come, they rejected him. They wanted a Jewish prophet from their own tribe and not an Arab from the sons of Ishmael. Thus, they allowed their pride to come between them and the truth which they recognized. However, their efforts were not totally in vain. So continuous were their efforts in threatening the inhabitants of Madinah with the final prophet's imminent arrival that when Muhammad (peace be upon him) finally did come, the inhabitants of Madinah immediately recognized him and hastened to follow him before the Jews. These inhabitants of Madinah would later become among those very first followers of Muhammad (peace be upon him) who would one year later go on to fulfill the prophesy of Isaiah by defeating the "mighty men of Kedar" in the very first battle of the Islamic nation, the battle of Badr.

As the prophesy requires, one year after prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his followers escaped from the torture and persecution of the people of Kedar and emigrated to Madinah, the men of Makkah decided to once and for all put an end to Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his followers. They assembled an army consisting of 750 footmen and 200 horsemen, all of their very best fighters, and all very well armed. The leaders of this army consisted of the majority of the leaders of Kedar (see chapter ten). They were confident of victory and bragged that after this massacre they would be feared throughout all of Arabia.

The Muslims heard of this amassing of troops and prepared as best they could. They collected 313 footmen with two horses and seventy camels. The Muslims fought long and hard with the men of Kedar and were finally granted victory. This battle ended in the death of these leaders of Kedar and a resounding victory for the Muslims.

In this battle, only fourteen Muslims and seventy pagans from Kedar were killed. Twenty four of those who died from Kedar were their leaders. In addition, seventy others from Kedar were taken as prisoners and later ransomed back to their people (for more see chapter ten).

This was the great turning point for the Islamic nation. This battle could be said to have been the beginning of the end for the reign of idolatry and paganism within the land of Arabia. This Muslim nation would then go on to expand to many other nations until it spread from Spain to China, fulfilling many more prophesies in the Bible, including Daniel 2:44, Genesis 15:18-21, and many others.

An unfortunate misconception which has managed to creep into many Western beliefs is that Islam was only spread through force and the sword. Today, however, this notion is beginning to be recognized for the absurdity that it was. A Christian missionary, Sir Thomas W. Arnold says:

"...of any organized attempt to force the acceptance of Islam on the non-Muslim population, or of any systematic persecution intended to stamp out the Christian religion, we hear nothing. Had the caliphs chosen to adopt either course of action, they might have swept away Christianity as easily as Ferdinand and Isabella drove Islam out of Spain, or Louis XIV made Protestantism penal in France, or the Jews were kept out of England for 350 years. The Eastern Churches in Asia were entirely cut off from communion with the rest of Christendom throughout which no one would have been found to lift a finger on their behalf, as heretical communions. So that the very survival of these Churches to the present day is a strong proof of the generally tolerant attitude of Mohammedan [sic] governments towards them" (The Preaching of Islam, A History of the Propagation of the Muslim Faith, Sir Thomas W. Arnold, Westminster A. Constable & Co., London, 1896, p. 80).

"Against unbelievers he (Muhammad) enjoined his followers to undertake a holy warefare, but only when attacked. The earlier Moslem[sic] leaders did not try to impose their faith upon other nations" (The History of Christianity in the Light of Modern Knowledge, A Collective Work, Harcourt Brace and co., p. 520)

Muslims did indeed wage many wars, just as many Jews and Christians did both before and after this. Muslims waged their wars in self-defense or in order to abolish idolatry, tyranny, slavery, and oppression. Muslims were commanded to not attack those who did not attack them, to not cut down a fruit tree, to not kill the animals, to not take the people's property, to not harm women or children or old people so long as they did not fight with them, and to not burn crops.

When they were victorious, the Muslims were commanded not to destroy the churches nor the synagogues, nor to force the people to convert to Islam. The people were allowed to continue to practice their religion without persecution or being forced to convert (Compare for example with Numbers 31, and Deuteronomy 20. Please also compare with the great Spanish inquisitions).

"There is no compulsion in religion. The right path is henceforth distinct from misguidance" (The noble Qur'an, Al-Bakarah(2):256.)

If Islam was indeed spread by the sword and not by its spiritual appeal, then how do we explain, for example, the fact that Islam is the religion of the majority of the people of the country of Indonesia even though no Muslim army ever set foot on their land and they can by no stretch of the imagination be labeled as Arabs? The only contact these people ever had with Islam was through Muslim traders who passed through their lands.

If the truth were to be known, in almost every single battle the Muslims ever participated in, they were almost always vastly outnumbered. For example, when the Muslims finally overthrew the pagan Byzantine superpower in the battle of Al-Yarmook of the year 636 C.E., the Muslim army consisted of 40,000 fighters verses 200,000 solders in the Byzantine army. So although many historians may like to attribute the fall of this superpower to any number of factors such as claiming that they were taxed and weary from previous battles with the Romans, (while not claiming that the Muslims were taxed and weary from their previous battles), and although they refuse to believe that this victory could have come from the Almighty, still, one needs to wonder if this victory were not through divine intervention then how do we explain the fact that an ill-equipped army of Bedouin sheep herders who were outnumbered more than four to one could so resoundingly defeat one of the two "superpowers" of their age?

"The extinction of race consciousness as between Muslims is one of the outstanding achievements of Islam and in the contemporary world. There is, as it happens, a crying need for the propagation of this Islamic virtue." (The Genuine Islam, Vol. 1, George Bernard Shaw, No. 81936.)

"I have always held the religion of Muhammad in high estimation because of its wonderful vitality. It is the only religion which appears to me to possess that assimilating capacity to the changing phase of existence which can make itself appeal to every age. I have studied him-the wonderful man and in my opinion far from being an anti-Christ, he must be called the Savior of Humanity. I believe that if a man like him were to assume the dictatorship of the modern world, he would succeed in solving its problems in a way that would bring it the much needed peace and happiness: I have prophesied about the faith of Muhammad that it would be acceptable to the Europe of tomorrow as it is beginning to be acceptable to the Europe of today." (Hamilton Gibb, Whither Islam, London, 1932, p. 379).

Prophecies about Islam in the Bible:

#1:

In Deuteronomy 33:2, we see Moses peace be upon him predicting that GOD Almighty will execute His Holy Judgement in the city of Paran by 10,000 of Believers:

"And he said, The LORD came from Si'-nai, and rose up from Se'-ir unto them; he shined forth from mount Pa'-ran [Mecca in Arabic], and he came with ten thousands of saints: from his right hand went a fiery law for them. (From the King James Version Bible, Deuteronomy 33:2)"

We also read about the same prophecy by Prophet Enoch peace be upon him:

"And Enoch [Idris in Arabic, one of Allah Almighty's Prophets peace be upon all of them to the people of Israel.] also, the seventh generation from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord came with ten thousands of his saints, to execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard [speeches] which ungodly sinners have spoken against him. (Jude 1:14-15)"

Now, according to the Islamic history, the city of Mecca (Paran) was liberated by Prophet Muhammad's 10,000-men army. The irrefutable historical proofs for this are located in this article: The story of the 10,000 Muslims who liberated Mecca (Paran) in the Bible.

Now, since these prophecies were foretold in the Bible's Old Testament, I would like to openly challenge any Jewish Rabbi or Christian Priest or Minister to answer the following question for me:

Where in the Bible do we see any Prophet executing the Judgement of GOD Almighty specifically in the city of Paran (Mecca, the city that Abraham took Hagar and Ishmael to)?

If Muhammad who liberated the city of Paran (Mecca) with 10,000 Believing Men (Saints) wasn't the one who fulfilled this Biblical Prophecy, then who was that Prophet?

Wasn't Muhammad through the Divine Religion of Islam the one who ended the idol worshiping of the 365 gods, and ended the brutal slavery and the torturing of women (burying daughters alive at the age of 4 was the pagan Arabs custom)?

Didn't Muhammad bring the Arabs from the total darkness of polytheism and evil to the Light of Worshiping the One True Living GOD Almighty and associated no partners with Him?

Wasn't Muhammad fruitful, and a true man of GOD Almighty?

Again, please visit The story of the 10,000 Muslims who liberated Mecca (Paran) in the Bible.

The proof that the city of Paran is Mecca. See the most recent archeological discoveries that prove that the desert of Paran is located in Saudi Arabia and not in Egypt's Sinai desert.

#2:

Prophet Isaiah peace be upon him prophesied that two leaders whom he called "Chariot" would come -- one riding a donkey, and another riding a camel:

"And he saw a chariot with a couple of horsemen, a chariot of asses, and a chariot of camels; and he hearkened diligently with much heed: (From the King James Version Bible, Isaiah 21:7)"

Who are the "couple of horsemen"? They are Jesus and Muhammad peace be upon them. Let us see the proof:

Jesus fulfilled the riding of the donkey prophecy: "And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written, (John 12:14)"

The quote "as it is written" is referring to Isaiah 21:7. It is important to know that no where in the New Testament do we see Jesus riding any camel. No where in the New Testament do we see any fulfillment of any kind about the prophecy of riding the camel.

When we look at Muhammad peace be upon him, he rode the camel several times in his life time. The most popular event of him riding the camel is when he migrated from Mecca to Medina to escape the torture of the pagans.

Not only that, but when the Muslims in Medina wanted to build the first Islamic Mosque and the Prophet's humble Home next to it, they had conflicts among each others about the location, because each group/tribe wanted the location to be as near to them as possible. So, to avoid the conflict of "favoritism", the Prophet peace be upon him ordered for his camel to decide the location by letting it walk and settle in the place that it naturally chooses.

This wisdom from Prophet Muhammad which relied solely on his camel solved the problem.

Now, my open challenge to any Jewish Rabbi or Christian Priest or Minister is as follows:

Where in the Bible do we see the riding of the camel Prophecy being fulfilled?

Who in the Bible was the Prophet that rode the camel to fulfill the Prophecy of Isaiah 21:7? The New Testament only fulfills the riding of the donkey prophecy in John 12:14, and it claims that it only fulfilled that prophecy.

There is still a missing fulfillment of the riding of the camel in the New Testament. Why?

If Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him wasn't the one who fulfilled the remaining of Isaiah 21:7 prophecy, then who was that Prophet?

Please visit Isaiah's Vision: He saw Jesus riding a donkey and Muhammad riding a camel. He also saw the destruction of Babylon (i.e. Iraq today) and its idol gods, and replacing them with a Divine Religion (i.e. Islam today).

#3:

In the Old Testament, we read about GOD Almighty promising to create "Great Nations" from Ishmael, Abraham's first Son and the father of the Muslims:

Genesis 12:1-3

1 The LORD had said to Abram, "Leave your country, your people and your father's household and go to the land I will show you.
2 "I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.
3 I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you."

The quote "go to the land I will show you" is referring to the city of Paran (Mecca). See the Biblical proofs here.

The quote "I will make you into a great nation" is quite interesting. How can GOD Almighty call the Muslims, who came from Ishmael, a "great nation" if they are as the modern Christians of today consider them to be "Satan's followers"? How can we be a "great nation" in the eyes of GOD Almighty if we are hated by Him?

The quote "I will bless those who bless you" perfectly fits the Muslims. As you probably know, we Muslims worship Allah Almighty by prostrating to Him. Every time we pray and prostrate, we end our prayer by sitting on our knees and say the following exact quote:

"........and bless Prophet Muhammad and the people of Prophet Muhammad, like You blessed Prophet Abraham and the people of Prophet Abraham........"

As you clearly see, we bless Prophet Abraham every single day of our lives when we pray to Allah Almighty. We also do say "peace be upon him" or "peace and blessings be upon him" when we refer to his name or any other Prophet's name.

My open challenge to any Jewish Rabbi or Christian Priest or Minister is:

How can the Muslims be cursed and considered satan followers when GOD Almighty in Genesis 12:3 blesses them because they bless Abraham?

How can the Muslims be cursed by GOD Almighty when they bow down to Him and only Him in prostration?

Yes, the Muslims are the "great nation" that GOD Almighty talked about, they are blessed by Him because they worship non but Him, and they bless Abraham everyday in their Prayers.

There is one very telling verse about Muhammad in the Bible

Jesus warned us about false prophets. Jesus said we would know false prophets by their deeds.

Jesus said: Matthew 7:15-20

15“Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. 16By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

We know that the fruits of Muhammad's tree are rotten. It leads to murder and terrorism.

:)

The fruits of Muhammad....

After Muhammad died, his thugs immediately started fighting amongst themselves.... cheating and lying and murdering each other.

The Fruits of Islam's Royal Family

.... from the last section, "The Fruit of Islam Judged", the conclusion is damning.

ALI’S FRUIT

Ali was Muhammad’s son in law, he was married to Muhammad’s daughter Fatima. Ali was raised by Muhammad starting at the age of five. At the battle of Khaibar Muhammad attested to Ali’s love of Allah, and Allah’s love of Ali. Ali was the fourth of the “rightly guided Caliphs.†Ali had two sons: Hasan and Husayn (both are important later on). Eventually Ali became a co-Caliph. A few years later he was murdered by a fellow Muslim.

The day after Muhammad’s death, Ali’s greed surfaced and he demanded that Abu Bakr give him a share of Muhammad’s ample wealth. His greed motivated him to move against Muhammad’s commands regarding his inheritance. Abu Bakr refused and Ali was enraged. He even stated that Muhammad himself did not know the Quran (in this Ali was correct) because the Quran details prophets leaving an inheritance to their sons (as does the Old Testament). As a result, Ali hated Abu Bakr deeply. He thought Abu Bakr to be “sinful, treacherous, dishonest, and a liar.†Remember, Abu Bakr was Islam’s 1st “Rightly Guided†Caliph. Obviously Ali did not think he was so “rightly guided!†When Muhammad’s daughter Fatima died, Ali was so embittered towards Abu Bakr that he did not bother to tell him, rather he buried Fatima in secret. Ali was censored by the people for his hatred towards Abu Bakr, therefore he went through the false motions of reconciliation with Abu Bakr to regain favor with the Muslim community.

Following Abu Bakr’s death, Ali made the same financial demands upon Umar. Umar told Ali to his face that he knew he hated him and that he knew Ali thought him to be a “sinful treacherous dishonest liarâ€Â. However, under Ali’s pressure, Umar relented, compromised Muhammad’s commands, made some trite stipulations, and gave a share of the wealth to Ali.

Following Uthman’s murder Ali did not attempt to punish the murderers. Instead he acted lamely, claiming he did not have sufficient force to deal with the murderers. Later when he had ample troops, instead of punishing Uthman’s murderers, he incorporated them into his service.

After he became Caliph he used compulsion and forced az-Zubayr and Talha to give him allegiance. When it became apparent that not all thought he should be Caliph, instead of working to keep unity within the Islamic community, he demanded allegiance. His lust for power caused him to go to war to force all Muslims to obey him. This caused the deaths of tens of thousands of Muslims through various battles. Later, Ali murdered Muslims who had converted to Islam, realized it was a big mistake, and reverted back to Christ.

FATIMA’S FRUIT

One of Muhammad’s daughters, later married to Ali. The day after her father died, she went against her father’s wishes and demanded a share of his wealth. She hated Abu Bakr for refusing her demand. She thought him to be a “sinful, treacherous, dishonest, liar.†She died some 6 months after Muhammad died.

IBN ABBAS’ FRUIT

Like Ali and Fatima, Ibn Abbas was greedy and made a demand upon Abu Bakr, and later Umar, for the inheritance. Ibn Abbas thought them to be “sinful, treacherous, dishonest, liars.†He did not care to respect Muhammad’s wishes. In his lust for the money, he even cursed Ali in front of Umar. Later in life he betrayed Ali, stole from the public treasury, lied about his actions, and murdered those that opposed him.

ABU SUFYAN’S FRUIT

Abu Sufyan should not be considered as part of the Royal family or one of the best Muslims. However, he became prominent even during Muhammad’s lifetime. I’ve noted him here because of the position his sons were to occupy later. After forcing Abu Sufyan to convert to Islam, Muhammad gave him financial rewards for accepting Islam and foolishly appointed him as a governor over a city. Muhammad’s corrupt folly here proved to be fatal to his own family not many years later.

Islam’s Royal family knew of Sufyan’s intentions, for they heard him say, “By God, I see a cloud of smoke,†which nothing but blood will clearâ€Â, but they did nothing to check this. And, Sufyan’s prophecy proved true. Sufyan held malice against Abu Bakr and denigrated the choice of Bakr as Caliph. He considered himself and his clan to be superior to Abu Bakr. Later, his family destroyed Muhammad’s family, and took the Caliphate for themselves.

AL-ZUBAYR’S FRUIT

He was a very prominent Muslim, a close friend of Muhammad’s, and a leader in the Islamic community. After Muhammad died, he was willing to murder those that opposed Ali as Caliph. However, he desired the Caliphate and when he thought the time was right he rebelled against Ali. His leadership also caused the deaths of thousands of Muslims in the Battle of the Camel.

UTHMAN’S FRUIT

Uthman was the 3rd “Rightly Guided Caliphâ€Â. His caliphate marked the inward deterioration of the Islamic community. By this time, Muhammad’s empty legalistic rule had run its course and the Muslim community began to live in the flesh to the fullest. Uthman was a weak, corrupt leader and allowed the corruption to flourish throughout the Islamic empire. Uthman was murdered by Muslims, Abu Bakr’s son was one of the ringleaders of the murder. When his final crisis occurred, he lied to Ali and the people by saying he wanted time to set good things in order. Instead he prepared for war.

TALHA’S FRUIT

Another prominent Muslim, a close friend of Muhammad’s, and a leader in the Islamic community. He his desire for the Caliphate he rebelled against Ali. His leadership also caused the deaths of thousands of Muslims in the Battle of the Camel.

MUAWIYAH’S FRUIT

Muawiyah was Abu Sufyan’s son and was appointed to the governorship of Syria by Umar. He went to war with Ali. He later became the 5th Caliph of Islam. He treated Uthman with duplicity by not sending help when he needed it most. In his deceit and lust for power he rebelled against Ali. He led thousands of Muslims to their deaths in his war with Ali. He lied about seeking peace while all the while he moved against Ali. Later he lied to Hasan in promising Hasan that he would have a council held to determine the next Caliph. Instead, prior to his death, he installed his son Yazid as Caliph.

AISHA’S FRUIT

She was Muhammad’s 9 year old child bride. She hated Ali for most of her life. She was one of the leaders in Islam’s first civil war. She had previously despised Uthman, but she used his murder as a pretense to move against Ali. Her hatred and rebellion toward Ali led to the deaths of some 15,000 Muslims. In her bitterness towards Ali, she rejoiced when Ali was murdered.

HASAN’S FRUIT

Hasan was Ali’s older son and initially claimed the Caliphate for himself following his father’s murder. However, just as things went wrong for Ali, so things deteriorated for Hasan very quickly. He sold out his “birthright†for a large sum of money. Thereafter he spent his wealth on debauchery with women.

YAZID’S FRUIT

Yazid was Muawiyah’s son. By using threat of death Yazid tried to force many Muslims to accept his Caliphate. Those that refused were tortured and killed. Entire towns of people were persecuted and oppressed. Yazid was a drunkard. It was Yazid’s forces that killed Husayn. Yazid, the Caliph of Islam desecrated the head of Muhammad’s grandson – Husayn. He was rebuked by another Muslim who told him that he had seem Muhammad kiss the lips of that severed head!

ABDALLAH IBN AL-ZUBAYR’s FRUIT

Ibn Zubayr was the son of Az-Zubayr, one of Muhammad’s most prominent Companions. Following Husayn’s death Ibn Zubayr also claimed the Caliphate. He died during another later civil war in 692. Ibn Zubayr was the son of one of the most prominent Companions. When he was persecuted by Yazid he fled as Husayn but even in this dire time, jealousy of Husayn and selfish ambition ruled in his heart. Deep down he coveted the prize of ruling the Muslims as Caliph.

THE ISLAMIC COMMUNITY’S FRUIT

We must not forget how the Islamic community behaved after Muhammad’s death. The day after Muhammad died they nearly came to war trying to choose the next Caliph. The Muslims were already ready to fight and kill each other. As things deteriorated under Uthman’s reign, from all over the Islamic empire they rebelled against him and journeyed to Medina to fight him. In the end many of Uthman’s closest friends deserted him. The son of the 2nd Rightly guided Caliph – Abu Bakr, was one of the ringleaders in Uthman’s murder. Following that, these renegade Muslims threatened Medina with annihilation if they did not quickly choose another Caliph. Throughout the times sons of Caliphs fought against sons of other Caliphs. Even the sons of a prominent Companion (Az-Zubayr) hated and fought against each other. During Ali’s through Yazid’s reign the Muslims fought war after war, carried out assassinations, rebelled against and betrayed each other. As time wore on they made war in Mecca and destroyed their own Kaba. Thousands of Basrans died, thousands of Kufans died, thousands of Syrians died, thousands of Meccans died, thousands of Medinans died, thousands of Yemenis died, and thousands of Egyptians died.

The early Muslims were no more dependable and virtuous than a nest of poisonous snakes.

The fruits of Muhammad (cont.)

What would you expect to see from the closest followers of a “prophet†of a new religion? If they believed Islam was true, and that it was God’s path for mankind, I would expect to see some type of inner spirituality, and bonds of brotherhood form. We’ve seen that actually the opposite occurred.

Why didn’t the early Muslims obey Muhammad’s commands to treat each other properly?

Why did Allah fail to knit their hearts together? The statement in the Quran:
And He has united their (i.e. believers') hearts. If you had spent all that is in the earth, you could not have united their hearts, but Allah has united them. Certainly He is All-Mighty, All-Wise. (8:63)
..... certainly has not borne out. If anything it is a false statement. Pretty shoddy job done by “allah†if you ask me. I’d expect that Islam’s supreme being could have done a better job at fulfilling his word that what history records. Allah must have been quite weak if he was unable to do what was implicitly promised. If anything, God cursed Islam and made them exquisite biters and devourers of each other.

Muslims repeat over and over that Islam is a religion of peace. I ask, “Where and when?†Even during the heyday of Islamic civilization, they were engaged in civil wars and conquests of non-Muslims. Peace was a rare commodity in the Islamic world. Islam is not now, nor has it ever been, a religion of peace. When Muslims were not fighting non-Muslims, be they Christian, Jewish, Hindu, Buddhist, animist, or pagan, the Muslims were fighting each other.

What’s it going to take for people, including Muslims to wake up and realize just how deeply Islam has polluted their souls?

Muhammad or Jesus?

Jesus taught that external forms of religion were of little value. Muhammad never truly knew this. Muhammad taught an austere form of religion, but the inward aspects of his teachings seem to have been mere rhetoric.

In Islam, outward obedience is primary, inward purity is not emphasized heavily. Hence a butcher like Ali would lead his people in prayer, but later murder and kill Muslims that did not accept his leadership. Aisha, Muhammad’s child bride, would live in bitterness towards Ali, to his dying day. Uthman, fostered corruption in Islam because he wanted privilege for his clan. Hasan sold his assumed birthright for wealth, and squandered it upon hundreds of wives and concubines. The tale of the Royal Family is not a joyous tale. No Muslim could be proud of these examples. The Royal Family’s story reads like a Shakespearian tragedy.

Satan’s blood lust lives through Islam. Satan or one of his servants met with Muhammad in the cave. Later, Satan even played Muhammad and spoke his words through Muhammad! Where real Islam reigns it kills and oppresses those not in conformity with its doctrines. Even fellow Muslims are butchered by their brethren.

My My pretty desperate aren't we?
This is about Jerusalem and JESUS there is no light in Muhammad there is only darkness and so it is with Islam period, make up your mind is the Bible corrupt or not?
Shalom and love in the YESHUA the only true LIGHT OF THIS WORLD.

No as usually a pack of liars from Islam the Mountain is Jerusalem and the house of the GOD is as usually the Temple.
And as you can se it is the GOD of JACOB not the god of muhammed ELI you will stop at nothing I just can't imagine people being so desperate as to stoop this low.

And the law that shall go forth of ZION is the Torah (in hebrew the meaning of the word law is the Torah the 5 books of Moshe)

And as always the answer is wrong and a distortion ELI when will you wake up and realize you have been feed a pack of liars I really feel sorry for you the day you will stand face to face with JESUS and have to explain the pack of liars you have feeding us with and not only that your stealing the words of the LIVING GOD AND MISUSING THEM FOR YOUR OWN NO GOOD PURPOSE.
Allah says in Qur'an , Surah Al-Baqara (The Cow) 2;

Just where is this mount Arafat could it be the mounting where the ark stranded? is this the mounting Arafat is named after?
And who went astray?

And what is this Sacred Monument?

Yes hope to see that day coming soon to see your face when you will stand face to face with JESUS and have to explain the pack of liars you have feeding us.

25:27 The Day that the wrong-doer will bite at his hands, he will say, "Oh! Would that I had taken a (straight) path with the Messenger!

(116. And (remember) when Allah will say (on the Day of Resurrection): "O `Isa, son of Maryam! Did you say unto men: `Worship me and my mother as two gods besides Allah''' He will say: "Glory be to You! It was not for me to say what I had no right (to say). Had I said such a thing, You would surely have known it. You know what is in my inner self though I do not know what is in Yours, truly, You, only You, are the Knower of all that is hidden and unseen.'') (117. "Never did I say to them ought except what You (Allah) did command me to say: `Worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord.' And I was a witness over them while I dwelled amongst them, but when You took me [up], You were the Watcher over them, and You are a Witness to all things.'') (118. "If You punish them, they are Your servants, and if You forgive them, verily You, only You are the Almighty, the All-Wise.'')

`Isa Rejects Shirk(associate partner with God) and Affirms Tawhid(monotheism)
Allah will also speak to His servant and Messenger, `Isa son of Maryam, peace be upon him, saying to him on the Day of Resurrection in the presence of those who worshipped `Isa and his mother as gods besides Allah,

(O `Isa, son of Maryam! Did you say unto men: `Worship me and my mother as two gods besides Allah') This is a threat and a warning to Christians, chastising them in public, as Qatadah and others said, and Qatadah mentioned this Ayah as evidence,
("This is a Day on which the truthful will profit from their truth.'') [5:119] Allah's statement,
(Glory be to You! It was not for me to say what I had no right (to say)...) contains Allah's direction for `Isa to utter the perfect answer. Ibn Abi Hatim recorded that Abu Hurayrah said, "`Isa will be taught his argument in reply to what Allah will ask him,
(And (remember) when Allah will say (on the Day of Resurrection): "O `Isa, son of Maryam! Did you say unto men: `Worship me and my mother as two gods besides Allah') [5:116].'' Abu Hurayrah then narrated that the Prophet said that Allah taught `Isa to say,
(Glory be to You! It was not for me to say what I had no right (to say)...) Ath-Thawri narrated this Hadith from Ma`mar from Ibn Tawus from Tawus. `Isa's statement,
(Had I said such a thing, You would surely have known it.) means, had I said it, You, my Lord, would have known it, for nothing escapes Your knowledge. Rather, I have not said these words nor did the thought even cross my mind, this why he said,
(You know what is in my inner self though I do not know what is in Yours, truly, You, only You, are the Knower of all that is hidden and unseen. Never did I say to them ought except what You (Allah) did command me to say...) and convey,
(Worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord.) I only called them to what You sent me with and commanded me to convey to them,
(Worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord) and this is what I conveyed to them,
(And I was a witness over them while I dwelled amongst them,) I was a witness over what they did when I was amongst them,

Al-Masih: Jesus the Messiah

Jesus alone is called the Messiah in the Qur’an. No other prophet, patriarch or priest is given this title. In Arabic it is simply al-Masih. The Qur’an makes no attempt to define the title but it does award it to Jesus on no less than eleven occasions. Sometimes it is simply al-Masih, "the Messiah" (Surah 5:72), elsewhere it is al-Masihu Isa, "the Messiah Jesus" (Surah 4:157), while it also appears as al-Masihubnu Maryam, "the Messiah son of Mary" (Surah 5:17). It is a unique title, given to no one else, but applied to Jesus nearly a dozen times.

If you were to ask a Muslim what it means, he really could not tell you other than to say, "Jesus is the Messiah." The title actually has no meaning in Islam and is not derived from any Arabic word. It is an arabised form of ha-Mashiah, the Hebrew title which does have a meaning, namely "the Anointed One." The Jews had long awaited this coming figurehead, especially after his advent had been announced through all the prophets as we have seen. It was Daniel, however, who first gave the coming Son of David the express title Messiah (Daniel 9:25). Without an explanation in Islam one has to go to the Jewish and Christian scriptures to find its meaning.

Surah 4:171 says Jesus was no more than a messenger but all Jews and Christians know that this specific title, the Messiah, speaks of a man who stands out above all other men, including the other messengers of God. The Old Testament prophecies we have considered, and many more, show that he would be possessed of a regality, majesty, splendour and excellence above all other men. While denying that Jesus is the Son of God, the Qur’an, nevertheless, is giving him a title that implies that he is the ultimate man of human history and the holy one who was to be the final expression of the revelation of God to men. "God was in the Messiah, reconciling the world to himself" (2 Corinthians 5:19).

The most important issue here, in considering Surah 4:171, is to show Muslims that while the Qur’an denies that Jesus is the Son of God, it is giving him a title that proves unreservedly that he is! In Biblical times the expressions Messiah and Son of God were synonymous. Let us look at some key texts you can quote to Muslims to prove the point.

1. Jewish believers in Jesus

  • The Jewish disciples of Jesus freely used the two titles, Messiah and Son of God, interchangeably. (Although the Greek texts use the word Christos, the Greek word for Messiah meaning "Christ," we will use the original Hebrew designation as it makes the point more forcefully). Simon Peter was one of the first Jewish followers of Jesus to do so:

You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God. Matthew 16:16

Nathaniel was another who simultaneously called Jesus the Son of God and the King of Israel, another synonym for Messiah (John 1:49). Martha, the sister of Lazarus and Mary, also used the two titles simultaneously in her expression of belief in Jesus:

I believe you are the Messiah, the Son of God, he who is coming into the world. John 11:27

2. Caiaphas, the Jewish High Priest

  • When Jesus was brought before Caiaphas, the High Priest of Israel, on the night of his trial, Caiaphas also used the titles synonymously when placing Jesus on oath to declare whether he was the Son of God:

I adjure you, by the living God, tell us if you are the Messiah, the Son of God. Matthew 26:63

3. The Early Christian Gospel-Writers

  • The closest followers of Jesus during his lifetime, and others who followed him shortly after his resurrection and ascension to heaven, also used the titles together in various contexts to declare who Jesus really was. Here are two examples:

The beginning of the Gospel of Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God. Mark 1:1

These are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in his name. John 20:31

4. Demons who Recognised Him

  • Even the demons who were chased out of many they had possessed knew that Jesus was both the Messiah and the Son of God. They knew him from all eternity as the eternal Son from the Father and recognised him in human form when he commanded them with authority to depart.

And demons also came out of many, crying, "You are the Son of God!" But he rebuked them, and would not allow them to speak, because they knew that he was the Messiah. Luke 4:41

From all these texts we can see how unique the title Messiah is. It is no ordinary title, it is one of the highest eminence and only the Son of God in human form could claim it. This much is obvious from the texts we have quoted. Both the followers of Jesus and his enemies knew who the Messiah really would be.

By admitting that Jesus is the Messiah and by confirming his own emphatic declaration to this effect (John 4:25-26), the Qur’an has duly given Jesus a title which implies that he is the very person that the Qur’an is otherwise at such pains to deny, the Son of God himself.

Ha Mashiah: The Hope of Israel

For centuries, from the time of the great prophetic period, when Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel and a host of other prophets had foretold the final purposes of God for the Israelite nation and the world as a whole, to the time of the Roman occupation, Israel had longed for its promised Messiah, the Son of David, who they believed would redeem them from all their troubles. The nation longed for its Deliverer and, knowing from prophecies we have already considered in this book that he would be descended from their great king David, named him the Son of David. Yet they chose a more popular title to readily define him, namely the Messiah. By the time of Pontius Pilate, Herod Antipas, and the high priests Annas and Caiaphas, Messianic fervour among the Israelites was at fever pitch. His advent seemed overdue as they yearned for a glorious king who would establish their nation as the dominant nation over the whole earth.

The title Messiah comes from the Hebrew ha Mashiah, meaning "the Anointed One." Mashiah is a common Hebrew word and, in the Hebrew Old Testament, is applied to the anointed high priest (Leviticus 4:3), the nation’s king (2 Samuel 1:14), the prophets of God (Psalm 105:15) and even the Persian king Cyrus (Isaiah 45:1). All of these were anointed by God for some specific ministry or purpose, yet, from the abundance of prophecies of a supreme deliverer to come, who is called mashiah in Daniel 9:25, the people of Israel determined that a supremely anointed figure would arise whom they named the Messiah.

Because the Qur’an acknowledges this title (al-Masih) and applies it exclusively to Jesus Christ eleven times, this subject is a valid and crucial one for Christian witness to Muslims. The Qur’an, as a rule, teaches that all the prophets of God were the same and that Jesus was no more than a prophet, yet here we have a title obviously derived from its Hebrew equivalent, which to the Israelite nation implied so much more. Prophets had come and gone yet one supreme ruler, who would overshadow them all, had been promised in their prophetic writings and they longed for his coming.

The New Testament confirms that Jesus was indeed the Messiah and, while it generally uses the Greek title ho Christos ("the Christ") to describe him, it does on two occasions confirm that this is a translation of the word Messias, the Greek word for Messiah (John 1:41, John 4:25). Once again, therefore, we find common ground with Muslims and you have a solid foundation from which to witness to the saving grace of our Saviour Jesus Christ and just what the title Messiah means. In the chapter on the prophecies of Isaiah I quoted a number of prophetic texts you can use in witness on this subject but a few others from other Old Testament prophets are useful as well. Here is one from the prophecy of Zechariah:

  • Behold the man whose name is the Branch; for he shall grow up in his place, and he shall build the temple of the Lord. It is he who shall build the temple of the Lord, and shall bear royal honour, and shall sit and rule upon his throne. Zechariah 6:12-13
It was texts like these that made the Jews expect a glorious king who would rule over the world from Jerusalem but, as we saw in the chapter on Isaiah, prophecies of his regal glory were interwoven with prophecies of suffering, obscurity and humiliation. The Jews failed to realise that he would come in humility the first time as a suffering servant to become exactly like us and, through his death on the cross, deliver us from our sins. Only at his second coming would he come as the divine ruler of the universe to establish his eternal kingdom and raise his followers to glory, to become as he is in his perfect righteousness. The Jews thought he would deliver the nation from the Romans. Jesus, God’s Messiah, came to deliver all of us from ourselves, as well as from the powers of the world, the flesh and the devil, who pull us down into a state of hostility with God.

It is important, in witnessing to Muslims on the title al-Masih, to show that all the promises made by the earlier prophets had this twofold emphasis, a suffering servant and a glorious king. The people of Israel seem to have conveniently overlooked the first, yet Muslims recognise that Jesus will have two lifetimes on earth, the first when he was God’s servant, born of Mary, and the second when he will return as a ruler of all the earth for forty years. Many Christians also hold the view that Jesus will return to reign over the earth, expecting him to govern it from Jerusalem for a period of a thousand years. In my view both the Muslims and Christians who hold this belief are making the same mistake the Jews made - expecting an earthly king who would rule from an earthly throne. The Bible makes it plain he will usher in an eternal kingdom and that he will rule directly from his Father’s throne in heaven (Revelation 3:21). You need to draw this contrast, otherwise the Messiah of God looks like nothing more than another King David.

:)

The Messiah: Greater Than All the Prophets

In witnessing to Muslims on the identity of the Messiah, this point is crucial before you go into the greater work he was called to perform. He was not just another prophet in a long line of earthly messengers, he was the eternal Saviour, the anointed Messiah, who came down from heaven to reconcile men to God.

John the Baptist is regarded as a prophet in Islam, Yahya alayhis-salaam (John on whom be peace), just like all the other prophets. What is unique about him is that he lived at the same time as Jesus and was able to witness directly to him. This is what he said of him in his Messianic vocation:

  • You yourselves bear me witness that I said, "I am not the Messiah but I have been sent before him" ... he must increase but I must decrease. John 3:28,30

This is he of whom I said, "After me comes a man who ranks before me, for he was before me." John 1:30
John clearly regarded the Messiah as a representative of God far greater than himself, and in this he was only emulating all the prophets who went before him. As Jesus said, Abraham rejoiced to see his day (John 8:56), Moses foresaw his coming (John 5:46), and David called him his Lord (Matthew 22:45). John the Baptist knew that he had only been sent as a forerunner of the Messiah. As the New Testament says, "he was not the light, but came to bear witness to the light" (John 1:8). Jesus is the light of the world, as he himself said (John 8:12), and everything that was written of him in the law of Moses, the psalms of David, and the writings of the other prophets, had to be fulfilled (Luke 24:44). The Samaritan woman who met Jesus at Jacob’s well near Sychar in Samaria also knew the Messiah would be far greater than all the prophets who preceded him. She said to Jesus:

  • I know the Messiah is coming, he who is called Christ; when he comes, he will show us all things. John 4:25
To this statement Jesus openly replied, "I who speak to you am he" (John 4:26). You can show Muslims that this question was a direct invitation to Jesus to disclose his true identity - was he just another prophet or was he the long-awaited Messiah, God’s supremely Anointed One?

The key passage here is the question Jesus put to the Jewish leaders gathered before him one day in the Temple. These self-appointed masters of the nation’s religious welfare, both Pharisees and Sadducees, had plied him with many questions, vainly attempting to trap him in his answers. Now Jesus had one for them:

  • How can they say that the Messiah is David’s son? For David himself says in the book of Psalms, "The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand, till I make your enemies a stool for your feet." David thus calls him Lord; so how is he his son? Luke 20:41-44
Although Jesus was descended from David, and so was his offspring, yet he was also the coming Messiah, and so was his Lord. He was the root of David as well as his offspring (Revelation 22:16) and David knew he would reign over the kingdom of God for ever. This is the implication of the title Messiah, and it is very useful, before you cover the redeeming work of Jesus in witness to Muslims, to first establish his pre-eminence over all the other prophets of God. Then the uniqueness of his salvation through his crucifixion, death and resurrection, gains more meaning and significance.

Moses foretells of Muhammad's coming

"I (God) will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee (moses), and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him."

Deuteronomy 18:18

There are many verses in the Old Testament that predict the coming of Jesus (pbuh). This one, however, is not one of them. This can be clearly seen from the following four points:

a) Like unto moses

Muslims believe in all of the previous prophets. They make no distinction between them, nor do they place one above the others in piety. However, they are all human, and as humans they differ from one another in their characteristics. Let us compare these characteristics:

1) Both Christians and Muslims agree that both Moses and Muhammad (pbut) had fathers and mothers. They both also believe that Jesus (pbuh) had only a mother and no father. Therefore, Muhammad is like Moses, but Jesus is unlike Moses.

2) Both Moses and Muhammad (pbut) married and begat children. Jesus (pbuh) never married nor had any offspring. Therefore, Muhammad is like Moses, but Jesus is unlike Moses.

3) Moses (pbuh) was accepted by the Jews and to this day, as a nation, they accept him as their prophet. Muhammad (pbuh) was accepted by his people, and as a nation, over one billion Muslims around the world accept him as the prophet of Allah. Jesus (pbuh), however, was rejected by his people (the Jews) as stated in the Christian's own Bible: "He (Jesus) came unto his own, but his own received him not" (John 1:11) Therefore, Muhammad is like Moses, but Jesus is unlike Moses.

4) Both Moses and Muhammad (pbut) were kings on Earth in the sense that they had the ultimate power of government, the power to inflict capital punishment. When the Jews brought before Moses (pbuh) the Israelite who had been caught collecting firewood on the Sabbath, Moses had him stoned to death (Numbers 15:36). Muhammad (pbuh) had similar authority. When a woman came before him confessing (with no witnesses) to having committed adultery, he gave her a chance to consider the severity of her claim and the punishment she would receive. When she insisted, he ordered her stoned to death and ordered his companions to respect her for her sincere repentance. Jesus (pbuh), however, explicitly refuted the claim that he had a kingdom on earth. When he was dragged before the Roman Governor Pontious Pilate with a charge of sedition he said: (John 18:36) "Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence." Jesus (pbuh) would not resort to lying to save his skin. Thus, he had no earthly kingdom. Further, in John 8:1-7 we read the story of the woman who was taken in adultery by the Jews and brought before Jesus (pbuh). They were hoping to trap him by either having him contradict the laws of Moses (pbuh) by not stoning her, or by placing him in a bad position with the Roman empire by taking the law into his own hands and ordering her stoned. Jesus cleverly extracted himself from this predicament by commanding them: "He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her." So the woman was set free. Therefore, Muhammad is like Moses, but Jesus is unlike Moses.

5) Both Moses and Muhammad (pbut) came with a new and comprehensive set of laws for their people. The law brought by prophet Moses was named the Judaic Law, and the law brought by prophet Muhammad was named the Shari'ah. Jesus (pbuh) however, as witnessed by Matthew, claimed to have not introduced any new laws, but to have come to renew the law of Moses (pbuh) and to have neither added nor subtracted from it. In Matthew 5:17-18 we read: "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled." Therefore, Muhammad is like Moses, but Jesus is unlike Moses.

6) Moses lead his people in a secret mass exodus from their hometown to Median in an attempt to flee the persecution of their enemies. Muhammad (pbut) too emigrated with his followers from their home town to Madinah in secret in order to flee the torture of their enemies. Jesus, however, never led his followers in a any sort of mass exodus from their hometowns . Therefore, Muhammad is like Moses, but Jesus is unlike Moses.

7) Moses was victorious over his enemies both morally as well as physically. Pharaoh was defeated by Moses and all of his army were drowned in the sea. Muhammad (pbuh) too met his enemies in battle and defeated them all. This too was a moral as well as a physical victory. Jesus (pbuh) on the other hand is claimed in the Bible to have been crucified by his enemies. Thus, his victory was only a moral one. Therefore, Muhammad is like Moses, but Jesus is unlike Moses.

8) Both Moses and Muhammad (pbut) died natural deaths. Jesus (pbuh), is claimed by the Christians to have died violently on the cross. Therefore, Muhammad is like Moses, but Jesus is unlike Moses.

9) Both Moses and Muhammad (pbut) lie buried in the ground. Jesus (pbuh), however, is claimed by the Christians to abide in heaven. Therefore, Muhammad is like Moses, but Jesus is unlike Moses.

10) Most Christians claim that Jesus (pbuh) is God. No Christian or Muslim, however, claims that Moses or Muhammad (pbut) was God. Therefore, Muhammad is like Moses, but Jesus is unlike Moses.

11) Both Moses and Muhammad (pbuh) began their prophetic missions at the age of forty. The Bible tells us that Jesus (pbuh) began at thirty. Therefore, Muhammad is like Moses, but Jesus is unlike Moses.

12) Christians claim that Jesus (pbuh) was resurrected after his death. Neither Muslims nor Christians claim that Moses or Muhammad was resurrected. Therefore, Muhammad is like Moses, but Jesus is unlike Moses.

There are many additional points that could be mentioned but we will suffice with these for now.

b) Cannot be a Jew

Well, is Muhammad (pbuh) the only prophet who is "Like unto Moses"? For example, what about Jesus (pbuh)? Well, we should then notice that Jesus (pbuh) was a Jew,

"Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou (Jesus), being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria?"

John 4:9

and the Bible specifically denies that this awaited prophet will be a Jew. We are told that in Deuteronomy:

"And there arose NOT a prophet since in Israel LIKE unto Moses."

Deuteronomy 34:10

This awaited prophet, however, must be "LIKE unto thee (Moses)." So he will come from OUTSIDE of Israel.

c) Is from the BRETHREN of the Jews

If this prophet can not be a Jew, then what is left? In this verse, God speaks to Moses (pbuh) about the Jews as a racial entity. The awaited prophet is claimed to not be "from the Jews" or "from among themselves" but rather "from among their (the Jew's) brethren." Who are the brethren of the Jewish nation? The Jews are the sons Jacob, the son of Isaac, the son of Abraham. Isaac's older brother was Ishmael, the father of the Arabs. Thus, the brethren of the Jewish nation is the nation of the Arabs. This statement is further reinforced by the following definition of "Brethren" in the Hebrew Dictionary of the Bible:

"personification of a group of tribes who were regarded as near kinsmen of the Israelites."

Muhammad in the Bible, Jamal Badawi, p. 16

Please compare this expression with that of the Qur'an:

"Indeed Allah has conferred a great favor upon the believers (Muslims) when He sent among them a messenger from among themselves, reciting unto them His verses, purifying them and teaching them the Book and wisdom; although before that they were in manifest error."

The noble Qur'an, Aal-Umran(3):164

There has come unto you (O Muslims) a messenger from among yourselves (Muhammad, pbuh). It grieves him that you should receive any injury or difficulty, full of concern for you, for the believers [he is] full of pity, kind and merciful.

The noble Qur'an, Al-Tawba(9):128

d) Put my words in his mouth

If we were to read the Qur'an we would find that it contains many verses stating "I am your Lord, so worship Me" (Al-Anbia: 92, Al-Muminoon: 52), "Verily, I am Allah" (Taha: 14, Al-Namil: 9, Al-Qasas: 30), "I am thy Lord" (Taha: 19). These verses are not preceded by "I heard God say.....," or "And God said....," or similar statements which would be the words of a man transmitting the words of God, rather, their form is that of the first person who speaks of himself. Neither Muhammad (pbuh) nor any Muslim ever claimed that Muhammad (pbuh) was God, therefore, Muhammad (pbuh) was speaking with his mouth the words of God. Similarly, we can find in the Qur'an more than four hundred verses of the form "Say (O Muhammad) : ........" In other words God Almighty is putting His words into Muhammad's (pbuh) mouth and commanding him to speak them.

We also find in the Qur'an verses which command Muhammad (pbuh) to perform a certain action, such as the opening verses of Al-Muzzamil(73), or which even go so far as to reproach Muhammad (pbuh), such as the chapter of Al-Tahreem(66) or the chapter of Abasa(80).

Christians claim that the Bible has many "authors," and that while the "inspiration" is from God, still, the words are those of mortal men.

Dr. W Graham Scroggie of the Moody Bible institute, Chicago, says on page 17 of his book "It is human, yet divine":

"...Yes, the Bible is human, although some out of zeal which is not according to knowledge, have denied this. Those books have passed through the minds of men, are written in the language of men, were penned by the hands of men and bear in their style the characteristics of men...."

Kenneth Cragg, the Anglican Bishop of Jerusalem, says on page 277 of his book, "The call of the minaret":

".....Not so the New testament....... There is condensation and editing; there is choice reproduction and witness. The Gospels have come through the mind of the church behind the authors. They represent experience and history....."

(Both quotes have been obtained from the books of Ahmed Deedat)

The Qur'an, however, is the book of God in both word and meaning. An example of this is a teacher who sends two students to teach what they have learned from him. The first is told to "teach them what I taught you." While the second is given a textbook written by this teacher and told to read verbatim from this book and say nothing of his own accord. The first will convey the thoughts of the teacher. The second will convey both his thoughts and his words.

Sir William Muir says:

"There is probably in the world no other book which has remained twelve centuries (at the time of this quote) with so pure a text"

Life of Muhammad from original sources, Sir William Muir, Edinburough, J. Grant, p. xxii-xxiii

This matter becomes clearer when studying for example the personal greetings and salutations of Paul and his friends at the ends of Titus (3:15), 2 Timothy (4:19), 1 Thessalonians (5:26) ..... etc. These words are not the word of God but the personal greetings of Paul and his friends. There are many such examples to be found in the Bible. The Qur'an contains no such verses from Muhammad (pbuh). The words of Muhammad (pbuh) are collected in a completely separate reference from the Qur'an called "The Sunnah" (or the "Hadeeth"). We notice from all this that even the Church itself does not claim that the Bible is the actual word of God, but His "inspiration" (his teachings) through the words of men. The Qur'an, however, is the actual word of God.

"And (remember) when Abraham and Ishmael were raising the foundations of the House (the Ka'aba in Makkah), [praying]: Our Lord! Accept from us [this service]. Verily! You, [only You,] are the Hearer, the Knower. Our Lord! And make us submissive unto You and of our offspring a nation submissive unto You, and show us our ways of worship, and relent toward us. Verily! You, [only You,] are the Relenting, the Merciful. Our Lord! And send among them a messenger from among them who shall recite unto them Your verses, and shall instruct them in the Book and in wisdom and shall purify them. Verily! You, [only You,] are the Mighty, the Wise. And who desires other than the path of Abraham except he who befools himself? Truly, We chose him in this world, and Verily! In the Hereafter he shall be among the righteous. When his Lord said unto him: Surrender! (literally: 'Be a Muslim!') he said: I have surrendered (Literally: 'I have become a Muslim') to the Lord of creation."

The noble Qur'an, Al-Baqarah(2):127-131

e) Grave Warnings for all who do not follow him:

So what shall we say to those who say: "Jesus has redeemed us. We have no need to follow any future prophets."? After the above verse of Deuteronomy, God himself threatens severe retribution against all those who do not follow this awaited prophet. In Deuteronomy we read:

"And it shall come to pass, [that] whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require [it] of him." (in some translations: "I will be the Revenger")

Deuteronomy 18:19

Well, do Muslims read the word of God (The Qur'an) in His name? The answer is: Yes. Muhammad (pbuh) never in his lifetime claimed that the Qur'an was his words, but the words of God it is only the West which claims that it is his words. Further, when a Muslim reads a verse or chapter of the Qur'an, you will find that they have been taught to always start their recitation with the words: "In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful." The Qur'an contains 114 Chapters. If we were to follow them on down we would find that the first chapter, second chapter, third chapter, and so on all begin with the words "In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful." (there is one exception). So not only Muhammad (pbuh), but all Muslims in general recite the words of God in His name. Indeed, the Qur'an does even confirm this same warning of Deuteronomy:

"And whosoever seeks other than Islam as their religion it will not be accepted from him, and he shall be in the hereafter among those who have lost"

The noble Qur'an, A'al Umran(3):85

Moses foretells of Muhammad's coming?

Deuteronomy 18:18

"I will raise up for them a prophet from among their brethren, like unto the (Moses) and will put my words into his mouth and he shall speak to the all that I command him." [KJV]

Important verses Muslims like to ignore

Al-Kahdi's strategy in this section is to use a well known Bible verse which predicts the coming of a prophet after and like Moses, and claim this Prophet is Muhammad. What Al-Kahdi like many other Muslim apologists tend to ignore when trying to reason from the Bible, is that the Bible actually describes the fulfilment of this prophecy by Jesus Christ.

Two verses that are often glossed over is an account from the book of Acts where the Apostle Peter is speaking to fellow Israelites in Jerusalem, about Jesus Christ.

"He [Jesus] must remain in heaven until the time comes for all things to be made new as God announced through his Holy Prophets." Acts 2:21
Both Muslims and Christians both share the unique belief that Jesus now lives in Heaven and will return again to bring salvation to those who follow God's will. Now let us move on to the following verse, remember in the previous verse Peter was speaking of Jesus, and so he continues,

"For Moses said, `The Lord your God, will send you a prophet just as he sent me and he will be of your own people. You are to obey everything he tells you to do.'" Acts 2:22

So, the Apostle Peter was in fact quoting Deuteronomy 18:15 and claiming fulfilment of this prophecy by Jesus.

Putting Words into whose mouth?

One of the attributes that Al-Kahdi sets aside for this prophet is that God's words will be `put into his mouth'. Al-Kahdi's reasoning like so many other Muslim apologists goes along the following lines.

The Quran is the `word of God', Muhammad recited the Quran and so this description fits Muhammad. He then goes on to quote extensively from the Quran as proof.

Al-Kahdi makes a staggering assumption, that is Christians believe the Qur'an to be the word of God, they do not. So to argue the Christian side from an Islamic view point achieves nothing.

Even if Christians were for a moment, to take the Islamic viewpoint and assume the Qur'an was the Word of God we shall see that this description does not uniquely describe the prophet that Moses spoke of.

For God said to the prophet Jeremiah;

"Behold, I have put my words into your mouth." Jeremiah 1:9
Jesus is also identified with this special attribute,

"I have given them words from which thou [God] gavest me." John 17:8
So this attribute does not uniquely identify the prophet, let us consider the other attributes that Al Kahdi proposes.

A similar argument

In order to support his case for Muhammad, Al-Kahdi draws upon several similarities between Moses and Muhammad in order to satisfy the pre-requisite that the prophet is `like unto thee (Moses)'. So Al-Kahdi lists off several attributes that are common to both Moses and Muhammad, such as the fact that they both had an earthly mother and father, they were both 40 years of age when they started their missions, they married and that they now reside in earthly graves. He then argues that because attributes do not apply to Jesus and so therefore Jesus is not the prophet spoken by Moses, it is true that Jesus did not posses such attributes, which are attributes associated with normal men, but the absence of these attributes go to illustrate how much more of a special position Jesus has over mankind and reveal something of his divinity.

Such attributes could be applied to many of the prophets that followed on from Moses, they do not uniquely identify the particular single prophet that Moses was speaking of. In order for us to determine the prophet we need to use attributes that are distinct to Moses.

Can be a Jew

Another argument Al Kahdi puts forward is that the one promised by God, `cannot be a Jew'. He uses a verse from Deuteronomy to support this point, re-reading of the verse however, refutes this theory. First let us consider the argument put forward, from Deuteronomy 34:10

"There has never been a prophet in Israel like Moses." Deuteronomy 34:10

The first thing we notice about this verse is that it comes from the Book of Deuteronomy from the Torah written about 1450 years before the time of Christ. The second thing we notice is that the verse is not prophetic, rather a comment of the history up to that point in time, if it were a prophecy it would read something like

"There never WILL be a prophet in Israel like Moses."
When in fact the verse is simply making a historical comment about what had already passed hence

"There never HAS been a prophet in Israel like Moses." Deuteronomy 34:10

This is only a part of the verse we shall cover its entire meaning later on, in the section entitled `The real attributes of the prophet to follow Moses'.

Who are 'their brethren'?

"I will raise up from THEM a prophet like you from among their brethren."
From this verse Al Kahdi goes onto state that `their brethren' in the verse above in fact means the brethren of the Israelites as a nation, i.e. the Ishmaelites. He goes further to contend that Muhammad is a descendant of Ishmael and qualifies as being the prophet as he fits the criteria mentioned in the verse above. This is fine, but we are speaking of a Biblical prophecy and we need to ask more importantly, "who does the Bible say `their' and who `their brethren' are"?

The key to understanding what the verse is speaking about is to read it in context with the rest of the text, if we go to the beginning of chapter 18 we read the following;

"The priestly tribe of Levi is not to receive any share of the land in Israel.. they shall have no inheritance amongst their brethren." Deuteronomy 18:1

As we continue to read through the chapter we notice that the priestly tribe of Levi, one of the twelve tribes of Israel is the main subject of what is being spoken of in this chapter, and the brethren of the tribe of Levi would be in fact the other 11 tribes of Israel, in this case the other 11 tribes of Israel would receive a share of the land distribution.

Thus in context the verse of Deuteronomy 18:18 can only be logically and contextually interpreted as

"I will raise up for them (the Tribe of Levi) a prophet like you from among their brethren (the other 11 Tribes of Israel)"

The Bible often speaks of the brethren of a tribe being the other 11 tribes of Israel,

"But the Children of Benjamin would not listen to the voice of their brethren the Children of Israel." Judges 20.13
(Examples taken from Is Muhammad Foretold in the Bible - John Gilchrist)

So in fact we can conclude that there is no Biblical or logical basis for assuming that the brethren mentioned in Deuteronomy 18:18 refers to the Ishmaelites or descendants of Ishmael, rather a descendant from one of the other 11 tribes of Israel other than the tribe of Levi.

However, if we look at the genealogy of Jesus in the gospels we see that Jesus is a descendant from the Israelite tribe of Judah (Luke 3:33, Matt 1:2-3), the tribe of Judah qualifies as the brethren, and so we can see that Jesus fits this criteria of the promised prophet.

The real attributes of the Prophet to follow Moses

We know that Moses grew up in Egypt as an exile from his own country, Jesus was also exiled into Egypt where he grew up, Luke 2:13-15. There seems to be no Muslim record or other sources of Muhammad ever having lived in Egypt.

As a consequence of Moses' birth the ruler of the day Pharaoh put out an edict to kill all baby boys, Exodus 1:16.

When Jesus was born the ruler of the day, King Herod also put out an edict to kill all the baby boys, Matthew 1:16.

Moses left Egypt to follow God's plan, "By faith he forsook Egypt" (Hebrews 11:27). Jesus left Egypt to follow God's will, "Out of Egypt I have called my Son" (Matthew 2:15).

Again there seems to be no Muslim or other source that records Muhammad as ever having faced the possibility of being killed at Birth because the ruler of the day had set out an edict to kill all baby boys. Neither do we record of Muhammad leaving Egypt to follow God's plan for him.

Three more important points that distinguish the mission of Moses from the other prophets recorded in the Taurat can be identified as the following.

1. God spoke to Moses face to face, there was direct contact between Moses and God on a very close level.

"Thus the LORD used to speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to a friend." Exodus 3.11

The Quran also identifies this unique attribute with Moses "...and Allah spoke directly unto Moses" Quran 4:164

If we consider Moses' initial encounter with God the burning bush in which God appeared to Moses is recorded in the Taurat (Exodus chapter 3) and the Quran 20:9-12.

There is no record in the Qur'an of Muhammad meeting God face to face.

2. God confirmed Moses' prophet-hood by allowing him to perform great miracles and signs, such as the feeding of the people of Israel, and the spectacular parting of the Red Sea.

Although the Hadith may say otherwise, the Qur'an records Muhammad as not performing miracles or signs, in fact when tested by his opponents to produce such a sign his response is to say that if God had willed him to produce such signs he would have done so, but in fact God had not chosen to empower Muhammad with such attributes. It is interesting to note how one challenge even brings Moses into the equation

"Why are not (signs) sent to him, like those which were sent to Moses?" Quran 28.48

3. Moses was also the mediator of a Covenant between God and the people of Israel.

Muhammad did not receive direct revelation from God, rather the Qur'an it is claimed by Muslims was transmitted to Muhammad by the angel Jibril (Gabriel). The Qur'an also does not record Muhammad as mediating a covenant between God and the people of Israel.

These three criterion are summed up in three verses that were touch upon earlier.

"And there has not arisen a prophet since in Israel like Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face, none like him for all the signs and wonders which the LORD sent him to do in the land of Egypt, Pharaoh and to all his servants and to all his land, for all the mighty power and all the great and terrible deeds which Moses performed in the sight of all Israel" Deuteronomy 34:10-12

Is Jesus the prophet `like unto Moses'?

So we now need to consider whether the distinguishing features of Moses' prophet-hood apply to Jesus or not, and it is important to remember that all three have to present for this prophet to be `like unto Moses'.

1. He knew God face to face

The following verse from the Gospel reveals the following special attribute, in speaking of Jesus,

"No one has seen the Father, except the one who is from God; only he has seen the Father." John 6:46

The following verse reveals a similar unique office,

"No one knows the Father except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him." Matthew 11:27

This verse tells us not only that Jesus is the one who exclusively knows the Father but he also has the ability to reveal the Father to those that he chooses.

2. Performed miracles and signs to confirm his prophet-hood.

Moses was given powers to control the sea,

"Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind." Exodus 14:21

What do we read of Jesus, he was able to still the sea at Galilee and his disciples response was,

"What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him?" Matt 8:27

Another great sign that Moses performed was to feed the Israelite people whilst they were on exodus through the desert. Jesus also performed a similar miracle by feeding 5000 people with just five loaves of bread. Jesus was actually queried on this point knowing that Moses had performed such a feat the question was posed,

"What sign do you do that we may see and believe you?" John 6.30
Jesus replied,

"I am the Bread of Life. Your fathers ate manna in the wilderness, and they died. This is the bread which comes down from heaven that a man may eat of it and not die. I am the living bread which came down from heaven; if anyone eats this bread, he will live for ever; and the bread which I shall give for the life of the world is my flesh." John 6.48-51

3. The Mediator of a covenant between God and his people

The outstanding feature of Moses' prophet-hood is that a covenant was established between God and his people. In speaking of the new prophet, a new covenant would be established,

After the time of Moses the prophet Jeremiah writes,

"Behold, the days are coming says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah." Jeremiah 31:31

In the book of Hebrews we read,

"Therefore Jesus is the mediator of the new covenant." Hebrews 9:15
The first covenant was sealed with blood,

"Moses took the blood and threw it upon the people, and said, `Behold the blood of the covenant which the LORD has made with you in accordance with these words." Exodus 24:8

In the same way the new covenant is also sealed with blood,

"This cup is the new covenant in my [Jesus'] blood." 1 Corinthians 11:25
The warning is in the name

After giving such an important prophecy given to Moses God tells the people of Israel one of the major criterion on which to identify the prophet. the warning comes directly after the prophecy,

"How shall we know that the LORD has not spoken." Deuteronomy 18:20
The answer is in the following verse

"When the prophet speaks in the name of the LORD and the word does not occur or come true..." Deuteronomy 18:21

There are two criteria one obviously being that the prophecy should come true, the first being that the prophet should speak in God's name.

Quite rightly Al-Kahdi picks up on this and in concluding, Al-Kahdi makes a big issue about the `prophet' Muhammad using God's name and he concludes that because every chapter of the Quran always begins with the words, "In the name of God..." and so he concludes that the name of God is being used.

A glaring omission that Al Kahdi seems to make from his reasoning, is to ask, what exactly is God's name?

It was Moses who asked the question when first called by God before the Exodus from Egypt (Exodus 3:13), that God revealed his name to be Yahweh (Exodus 3:14-15) sometimes transliterated as Jehovah and is usually written in Bible translations as LORD.

The name is used throughout the Bible up to 6,828 times. There is no record of Muhammad using the name of God within the Quran, so his claim to prophet-hood fails this attribute, and the claim to divine prophecy.

ISLAM in the Old Testament!!

In the book of Isaiah 29:12:

we find (a sign of Allah) that speaks about the way the revelation was first revealed to Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him in the Cave and what happened and what the Angel Gabriel told him in the cave and with utmost accuracy.

The verse says:

And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned. (KJV)

" When it is handed to one who cannot read, with the request, " Read this" he replies, " I cannot read" (NAB)

Notice how this compares, to the narrated hadiths (sayings) that narrate what happened with Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him in the cave:

Sahih al-Bukhari : Hadeeth 3

The angel came to him and asked him to read. The Prophet replied, "I do not know how to read."

The first verse revealed from the Quran starts with the word READ as mentioned in the verse in Isaiah:

Read! in the Name of your Lord Who has created.
He has created man from a clot.
Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous.
Who has taught by the pen.
He has taught man that which he knew not....
Quran (Chapter 'The Clot' 96: 1-5)

Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in the Old Testament:

The Qur’an mentions in Surah Al-Araf chapter 7 verse 157:

"Those who follow the Messenger, the unlettered Prophet, whom they find mentioned in their own (scriptures) in the law and the Gospel".

1.
MUHAMMAD (PBUH) PROPHESISED IN THE BOOK OF DEUTERONOMY:

Almighty God speaks to Moses in Book of Deuteronomy chapter 18 verse 18:

"I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and I will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him."

The Christians say that this prophecy refers to Jesus (pbuh) because Jesus (pbuh) was like Moses (pbuh). Moses (pbuh) was a Jew, as well as Jesus (pbuh) was a Jew. Moses (pbuh) was a Prophet and Jesus (pbuh) was also a Prophet.

If these two are the only criteria for this prophecy to be fulfilled, then all the Prophets of the Bible who came after
Moses (pbuh) such as Solomon, Isaiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, Hosea, Joel, Malachi, John the Baptist, etc. (pbut) will
fulfill this prophecy since all were Jews as well as prophets.

However, it is Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) who is like Moses (pbuh):

i)
Both had a father and a mother, while Jesus (pbuh) was born miraculously without any male intervention.

[Mathew 1:18 and Luke 1:35 and also Al-Qur'an 3:42-47]

ii)
Both were married and had children. Jesus (pbuh) according to the Bible did not marry nor had children.

iii)
Both died natural deaths. Jesus (pbuh) has been raised up alive. (4:157-158)

Muhammad (pbuh) is from among the brethren of Moses (pbuh). Arabs are brethren of Jews. Abraham (pbuh) had two sons: Ishmail and Isaac (pbut). The Arabs are the descendants of Ishmail (pbuh) and the Jews are the descendants of Isaac (pbuh).

Words in the mouth:

Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was unlettered and whatever revelations he received from Almighty God he repeated them verbatim.

"I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him."

[Deuteronomy 18:18]

iv)
Both besides being Prophets were also kings i.e. they could inflict capital punishment. Jesus (pbuh) said, "My kingdom is not of this world." (John 18:36).

v)
Both were accepted as Prophets by their people in their lifetime but Jesus (pbuh) was rejected by his
people. John chapter 1 verse 11 states, "He came unto his own, but his own received him not."

iv)
Both brought new laws and new regulations for their people. Jesus (pbuh) according to the Bible did not bring any new laws. (Mathew 5:17-18).

2.
It is Mentioned in the book of Deuteronomy chapter 18:19

"And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not harken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him."

3.
Muhammad (pbuh) is prophesised in the book of Isaiah:

It is mentioned in the book of Isaiah chapter 29 verse 12:

"And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned."

When Archangel Gabrail commanded Muhammad (pbuh) by saying Iqra - "Read", he replied, "I am not learned".

4.
prophet Muhammad (pbuh) mentioned by name in the old testament:

Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is mentioned by name in the Song of Solomon chapter 5 verse 16:

"Hikko Mamittakim we kullo Muhammadim Zehdoodeh wa Zehraee Bayna Jerusalem."

"His mouth is most sweet: yea, he is altogether lovely. This is my beloved, and this is my friend, O daughters
of Jerusalem."

In the Hebrew language im is added for respect. Similarely im is added after the name of Prophet Muhammad
(pbuh) to make it Muhammadim. In English translation they have even translated the name of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) as "altogether lovely", but in the Old Testament in Hebrew, the name of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is yet present.

Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in the New Testament:

Al-Qur'an Chapter 61 Verse 6:

"And remember, Jesus, the son of Mary, said, 'O Children of Israel! I am the messenger of Allah (sent) to you, confirming the Law (which came) before me and giving glad tidings of a messenger to come after me, whose name shall be Ahmed.' But when he came to them with clear signs, they said, 'This is evident sorcery!' "

All the prophecies mentioned in the Old Testament regarding Muhammad (pbuh) besides applying to the Jews also hold good for the Christians.

1.
John chapter 14 verse 16:
"And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever."

2.
Gospel of John chapter 15 verse 26:

"But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which
proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me."

3.
Gospel of John chapter 16 verse 7:

"Nevertheless I tell you the truth; it is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not
come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you".

"Ahmed" or "Muhammad" meaning "the one who praises" or "the praised one" is almost the translation of the
Greek word Periclytos. In the Gospel of John 14:16, 15:26, and 16:7. The word 'Comforter' is used in the English translation for the Greek word Paracletos which means advocate or a kind friend rather than a comforter.
Paracletos is the warped reading for Periclytos. Jesus (pbuh) actually prophesised Ahmed by name. Even the
Greek word Paraclete refers to the Prophet (pbuh) who is a mercy for all creatures.

Some Christians say that the Comforter mentioned in these prophecies refers to the Holy Sprit. They fail to realise
that the prophecy clearly says that only if Jesus (pbuh) departs will the Comforter come. The Bible states that the
Holy Spirit was already present on earth before and during the time of Jesus (pbuh), in the womb of Elizabeth, and again when Jesus (pbuh) was being baptised, etc. Hence this prophecy refers to none other than Prophet
Muhammad (pbuh).

4.
Gospel of John chapter 16 verse 12-14:

"I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth is
come, he will guide you unto all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me".

The Sprit of Truth, spoken about in this prophecy referes to none other than Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)
