What Genre of Music Will Be Remembered this Decade?

It's almost 2010.

What genre of music will this past decade be known for? Any? Or are we too fragmented in our tastes now?

I think of these examples:

60's as rock (Beatles, Beach Boys, Elvis, Rolling Stones) & motown (Diana Ross, Four Tops, Temptations)
70's as hard rock (Kiss, Led Zepplin, AC/DC) & Disco (Bee Gees, Saturday Night fever)
80's as alternative (Depeche Mode, REM, The Cure) & metal (Metallica, Ozzy) & hairbands (Motley Crue, Poision, Cinderella)
90's as grunge (Peral Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains) & hip hop (Ice Cube, Beastie Boys, Jay-Z)
2000's - ???

Probably lame emo and metalcore or nickelback lol. I would hope metal has made it's comeback though with bands like The Agonist, Lamb of God, Devildriver, Orphan Hate, As I Lay Dying, and many other good ones.

By the way, you forgot the best bands of the 90's, Nirvana, Rage Against the Machine, Pantera, System of a Down, and the list goes on. :) Can you tell the 90's was my decade. Some of the best music came out in the 90's. Anyways back to the present decade.

Indie Folk / Baroque Pop. Decemberists, Sufjan Stevens, Andrew Bird, Fleet Foxes (if they keep their current momentum going), Iron and Wine, Bright Eyes, Devendra Banhart, Arcade Fire, Rufus Wainwright, and Belle and Sebastian.

Most Listens =/= Most Remembered / Valuable / Revolutionary

R&B and Hip-Hop would probably jostle with Country for 'most listens'. Both genres tend to be pretty terrible.

Most revolutionary.

Post Rock, Noise, and Avante garde inspired Metal bands.

Bands that will probably be remebered - Gorillaz, Fall Out Boy, Slipknot, Lady Gaga, UneXpect, Diablo Swing Orchestra, Marzbow, God Speed you Black Emperor, Tortis, Rusian Circles, Mesona, Sunn O))), Boris, Fantomas, The Mars Volta, Coheed and Cambria, and Scissor Sisters.

The first 4 because they are massively popular, but still did somthing new to be remebered. Everything after taht has either revived long dead styles ( 70s rock and prog rock), or have broken down pre existing genres of music.
