What if you decided that you hate your mother, despise her, and never talk to her again from this day, till she dies, and you steal all her money as well.
Is she still your mother?
Are you still her son or daughter?
So, is there anything you can DO, that will create a situation whereby you are no longer her son/daughter and she your birth mother?
NOPE.
NOPE.
NOPE.

And why is that?
Its called BIRTH.
BIRTH.

See, BIRTH< cant be undone later by your actions OR YOUR desires..
You ARE your mother's by birth, (birth mother) and you cant undo this by murder, blasphemy, homosexuality, backsliding, or by any crime or desire.
Once you are BIRTHED, you are by BLOOD become your mother's SON or DAUGHTER, and this cant be UNDONE = because you cant undo BIRTH and what it created you to be.

So, is a Christian BORN AGAIN?
Is this a BIRTH?
Is it a "New Birth"< or is the Christian Bible a pack of lies like the quran?
So, is it possible to be "unborn again" and unbirthed when the BLOOD ATONEMENT has made you a CHILD of Father GOD?
Aren't you born again by the Blood of Christ being accepted on your sinful behalf so that you are accepted by God and SAVED?
This is a BIRTH.
"Jesus said, YOU MUST BE BORN AGAIN" = A BIRTH....John 3:7
SO, EVERY Christian has this "Birth", and you cant undo a birth by bad deeds or wrong desires.
Birth is a fixed and eternal state and cant be undone., and THAT includes both being born of your Mother and being born again via the Spirit of God.
So, in both cases, BIRTH cannot be undone (or lost) by BEHAVIOR.......ever.

Interesting. Baptist theology has always addressed this situation The main question would be, "is the person biblically saved?" Good example #1 John 2:23 "Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover Feast, many believed in his name when they saw the signs that he was doing.
2:24 But Jesus on his part did not entrust himself to them, because he knew all people
2:25 and needed no one to bear witness about man, for he himself knew what was in man." (ESV)

Example #2 Matthew 7:22 "On that day many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?'
Mat 7:23 And then will I declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness." (ESV)

Now, If the person in question is a biblical believer in Christ Jesus, has works to prove it, then I agree with your statement. Good analogy using the mother.

Yes, the wonder of the New Birth, is that Salvation is impossible without it, and a believer cant undo it, as the New Birth cant be changed, undone, or lost.
WE, are fortunate that God in the richness of His wisdom towards us, also designed salvation with the impossibility of failure, once applied.
This "fail safe" particular would be the "Blood of Christ" and also the fact that God is smart enough to put the entire responsibility of eternal life on Jesus finished work and Jesus Himself, instead of on our good deeds or any deeds or any lifestyle.

And i do agree that we are to discern works, and we are to be careful to maintain good works.
However, as the Devil and his own also come with good works and "Light", (2 Corin 11:14) often exactly as a Christian would operate, then, it is once again the "new birth" that differentiates between the worldly religious devils out doing good, and the truly born again who should be doing good more often.

God's not your mother. (Straw man fallacy)
But going with your false analogy, even though you will always be your mother's son, if you choose to separate yourself from her, she won't stop you. And she won't stop loving you.
BUt you still don't get to live with her because of your choice.
So if you are a child of God and decide you want nothing to do with Him, He will still love you but He will also respect your decision to be separated from Him and will allow you, according to your choice, to go to hell rather than spend eternity with Him.

A believer cannot undo the new birth?

Let's see:

Ephesians 2:8
We are saved by faith.

Romans 10:17
Faith comes by believing and believing in the Word of God.

So we need faith to be saved. We need to believe in Christ's redemptive work.

I BELIEVE, I HAVE FAITH = I'M SAVED

I DON'T BELIEVE, I DON'T HAVE FAITH = I'M SAVED

Matthew 7:21 "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."

Hey, just look at what these unsaved workers of iniquity did, using the powerful Name of Jesus, the Christ of God. They prophesied, cast out devils, and many other wonderful works. What does that say for us? We are genuinely saved, have the operation of the Holy Spirit working in us and thru us, and hardly ever get into a situation that we call on the Name of the Lord to accomplish the "many wonderful works" that those unsaved rascals did.

Shame on us!! We're in the last days!! Jesus is coming SOON. We need to take the "Name of Jesus" and allow the Holy Spirit to accomplish some "wonderful works" thru us....Lets Roll.
