What if Christianity were false?

What if Christianity weren't true, but some God did exist, and you still get to go to heaven?

  • Marvelous -- in that circumstance, it wouldn't matter at all that Christianity were a false religion

  • What matters is that Jesus is *truth*, and I would be horrified if he weren't.

Would you all be that bothered if it turned out that Jesus wasn't really, "the way, the truth, and the life"?

Dear undertow,

It would depend on the alternative? But because of the prophesies that He has fulfilled Himself regarding the coming Messiah, I bet my life He is everything He claimed to be...

THE CHRIST< THE SON OF THE LIVING GOD :)

This is a silly what if question, like what if the sun where made of water and donuts how would the summers be.

Over the years, I've come to perceive that the whole point of Christianity is that Jesus is the truth, way, and life.
I'm speaking, of course, form the perspective of a former Atheist myself, who has investigated this religion. I have always felt that being a true Christian has meant taking the things that bind you to this world-your possessions, your greed, your lust for more of something, etc. and casting them off to follow Jesus. Obviously I would be mortified if this were completely false and there was no more to my life than the frail possessions I have. However, in my perspective:
a.) I feel that Jesus truly is real, and that only he can light my path to heaven,
and b.)If that WEREN'T true, i wouldn't find out until I'm dead anyway.
I think the question is a little irrelevant, personally. I can only have faith that I am correct in choosing Jesus.

What if which Christianity wasn't true? All versions, or one in particular?

It doesn't matter to me-I have been presented no good reason to see any version of christianity as true.

who cares about Chrisitianity, it is about Jesus not some religon and there is but ONE true JESUS. :)

Dear undertow,

The alternative was described in the question:

"What if Christianity weren't true, but some God did exist, and you still get to go to heaven?"

That a question is hypothetical doesn't automatically make it "silly". If you think this one is then you are entitled to your opinion I guess. I ask the question as an indication of what is important to Christians. That there is a nice God who created the world and a blissful future for humanity? Or that their own particular version of religion should be true?
