What is a good documentary?

You learn something new. You get insights from less known people.
The sound is good .
Focus on the person being interviewed more than interviewer/host.
The camera work is interesting and varied.
The production feels professional, even sophisticated, though that sounds snobbish.
You come away with fresh insights.
I saw a documentary on Gacy recently.
By Peacock productions. This was riveting. Fascinating. They interviewed so many people close to Gacy.
It was organised. Well set up.
Praise the Lord for good documentaries.

Then you get those documentaries where they just repeat themselves. And have a small carousel of still photos that they regurgitate.

For me a good documentary is one that tells the truth. I love David Attenborough's natural life documentaries but I get tired of his rdiculous pronouncments that this has been here for 20 million years and that has been there for 10 million years.

I don't watch his docs. Maybe I should.
