What is a troll?

There was a porn/gore spammer/troll recently on one forum I'm on. Fortunately, the block button does wonders and saved my poor eyes until a mod could get on and ban the guy.

What are some of the examples of a troll?

I know those guys still post those on this forum. they did years ago when I was a mod.

I'd say it's been a long time since I've seen one (unless it was while I was offline), but I don't want to speak too soon.

everyone has that button. I have my "ptsd" triggers that aren't abled to be triggered here without posting audible sounds of fireworks that have the canon on them or the other trigger. which that latter one, no mod would allow.
Huh?. So your saying that you could be reading a post about a combat situation that reminded you of one of your own, but it would only trigger your ptsd if you had something like machine gun fire going off at the same time?

no if it had fireworks. the sounds of an ak-47, a zuke, zsu-57-2, and 23-4. no longer trigger that. my triggers are the rgp like sound of the cannon for the fireworks during july 4th, and also gore from movies that are most realistic. I learned to lower the responses to the other triggers that no longer bother by immersion therapy given to me as a joke by a coworker that understands ptsd.

The men of our church sometimes go to see "macho" movies. Some time ago, we went to see Lone Survivor. I had to get up and leave at a couple of the scenes. That caught me by surprise, but it still happened. (And, I never really experienced exactly those kinds of things.)

that movie was near where I was stationed. it is very likely that either I would have to debrief myself before I watched it or simply avoid it. I cant remember if I met that team as they operated out of abad.

I had to debrief myself to watch the passion of the Christ. gore does that to me. I hate that I can watch that and not be moved or overreact. I choose to numb myself to be able to watch the passion. it still didn't work.

I have the Passion on DVD, but I just don't drag it out anymore.

its not really that bad as far as gore, just that I didn't want to do what I normally will do if I don't stop that . I can talk about this easily but the looks from the members and others in a judgemental manner is what no vets want. as a vet you know that to be the case. the odd way we had to find humour in what we saw and did. the fact that we can shrug that off in that manner is itself bothersome. it never will be taken unless God sees fit. just learned to be dealt with.

I don't think I troll, but I DO deliberately ask questions that I suspect will be answered a particular way because of the views and leanings of the recipient. Maybe that could be construed as "setting someone up", but I don't see it that way.

I ask questions because I am looking for the truth.I am by nature a curious person.Sometimes I get the answer I am looking for.A true Biblical answer and I appreciate that.

What's with the "Eek!"? You know very well that if you just ask a question that is almost answered with a pat, standard scriptural "cop-out", so to speak, that is all you will hear.... Whether the person replying has any idea what the verses may mean, or not even a clue.

Ask something in a way that invites them to give an honest answer - one that comes from the life they really live - and, you're finally conversing on a personally honest level. (A harder level to reach than you might think, especially with indoctrinated Christians.)

But then, as a PK, you know what I'm talking about.

Some folks are afraid to answer... questions...

yes you do ... on topic or off :)
Answering questions allows others to know you..
