What is our true reward in life?

Those who practice true love never seek reward for acts of love for the following reasons. 1) The privilege to love and serve others itself is the greatest reward, because, this give them a share in God’s life. They are, therefore, exceedingly thankful to God, for performing acts of love through them. 2) To love others is their heart’s desire. Therefore, when they love others by their acts, it is a reward or a gift to them. God gives us a free gift. His gift is the gift of His own life, which He gave us by sacrificing His own life. It is the only gift that is real, because, it is the only gift that gives us life and is eternal. To accept this gift, is to live His life of sacrificial and life giving forgiveness. To live this life is our reward.

How do you interpret this? - taken from Colossians 3. "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving."

So you are saying your 'inheritence' or 'reward' is here and now rather than in heaven?
