Is Salvation just about going to heaven, or is there more to it during our life here on earth ?

SOZO definition

Sozo (greek) = Salvation

What is “Salvation’ ( Sozo ) ?

= the Greek word means to heal, cure, to make well; to rescue from danger, to save; to cause something to change to an earlier, correct or appropriate state; to renew.

Tina,

I will begin with a quote from Romans so what is said will be in reference to this Scripture.

Rom 4:24-5:2
24 But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;
25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.
5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.KJV

Verse one of chapter five testifies that we have peace with God through being justified by faith.

Verse two of chapter five testifies that we are given an access into grace (by grace you are saved from your sins) which results in our standing and rejoicing in hope of the glory of God.

Imputation/justification brings peace with God/sense of God's free forgiveness of our sins.

Grace brings victory over our lusts as we dwell in the free forgiveness of our sins, remembering that if we should sin, that we have an advocate with the Father, even Jesus Christ the righteous one.

Salvation from our lusts is the fruit of being justified, imputed as righteous before God in Jesus Christ.

"Neither do I condemn you (justification/imputation), go and sin no more (grace).

Joe

The Greek word Sozo occurs over 90 times in the New Testament. An in-depth study of "Sozo" reveals that salvation encompasses much more than just a guaranteed entry into heaven when we die. In fact, most of the references to "Sozo" in the Bible refer to our present physical condition rather than our spiritual salvation.

The benefits granted to us through Sozo include:

- Restoration of fellowship with God.
- Being kept safe and sound through God's protection.
- Wholeness and well-being in every area of life.
- Rescue of our natural, physical life from imminent danger or instant death.
- Emotional recovery and restoration of health.
- Deliverance from disease or demon possession.
- Freedom from eternal death and the punishment for sin.
- Permanent separation from satan and hell.

When Jesus Christ died and ascended into heaven He unleashed the greatest power ever known. This "Sozo Power" was directed entirely toward us. "Sozo Power" is constant, perpetual and guaranteed to radically change the life of anyone who comes into agreement with it and accepts its full benefits as his or her rightful inheritance.

In the Bible, Jesus never failed to heal everyone who directly and boldly apporoached Him for healing. He healed ALL who went to Him. But sadly these days, many Churches seem to consider it almost sinful to preach about the full benefits of Sozo, restricting their teachings to nothing more than heaven and hell issues. For some reason, divine healing and deliverance is not talked about openly and only practised behind the scenes.

Divine healing is wonderful, and God does heal. But many times, God uses our infirmities to make us stronger in Him. He isn't at our beck and call...we are at His. I agree salvation includes great things for us here in this life, but health and well-being should not be our main focus.

2 Corinthians 12:10 said:
Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.
There is much to be said for the "fellowship of his sufferings."
Philippians 3:10 said:
That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;
True growth takes place in the valley.
James 1 said:
James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting. My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

Mat 9:21 for she said within herself, If I do but touch his garment, I shall be sozo
Mat 9:22 But Jesus turning and seeing her said, Daughter, be of good cheer; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was sozo from that hour.

Mar 5:23 and beseecheth him much, saying, My little daughter is at the point of death: I pray thee, that thou come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be sozo and live.

Mar 6:56 And wheresoever he entered, into villages, or into cities, or into the country, they laid the sick in the marketplaces, and besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment: and as many as touched him were sozo

Mar 10:52 And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath sozo thee whole. And straightway he received his sight, and followed him in the way.

So we see that indeed sozo includes physical healing.Mat 8:16 And when even was come, they brought unto him many possessed with demons: and he cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all that were sick:
Mat 8:17 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying: Himself took our infirmities, and bare our diseases.

Isa 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

1Pe 2:24 who his own self bare our sins in his body upon the tree, that we, having died unto sins, might live unto righteousness; by whose stripes ye were healed.

2Co 12:10 Wherefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in injuries, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

Paul is not teaching us to stay sick, but Paul is giving us a lesson in how to release God's power in our lives.
Only when we are weak (that means we stop trying to correct something ourselves) are we strong. This strength is needed for the victory , the overcoming of the need; be it sickness, need, help, provision, protection etc. All of which are included in "sozo". We access this by and through ........faith. That is why the Bible says " for those who believe". The benefit is forfeited when we allow doctrines of man to talk us out of our believing (faith) Mar 11:23 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou taken up and cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that what he saith cometh to pass; he shall have it. Doubt will cause us to loose the promise. Only those who believe this to be so, may have it.

Notice that these signs only follow those who believe . You have to believe that sozo includes healing, if you are to receive healing at all. This is not talking about believing in God, this is talking about believing the promise about healing , which is included in what we generally call ;the Gospel

Mar 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to the whole creation.
Mar 16:16 He that believeth(The Gospel, which includes healing) and is baptized shall be saved; but he that disbelieveth shall be condemned.
Mar 16:17 And these signs shall accompany them that believe:(the Gospel) in my name shall they cast out demons; they shall speak with new tongues;
Mar 16:18 they shall take up serpents, and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall in no wise hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

This is only the inheritance of those who believe the ........gospel which includes healing.

Amen, Jesus returned us to a place before Adam and Eve sinned.

This is a place where there is no curse, no sickness, no needs that were not met. When Jesus said "It is finished" He declared that we are now successfully restored to a time where the curse is no longer upon us.We must now learn how to rule over the curse, and not allow the curse to rule over us any longer.

The true gospel is one that tells of a Godly salvation. A salvation that took care of everything for those who believe that it is indeed so.Those who believe this, will also walk in this truth.Little by little , we are learning to walk in the victory that HAS been given to us already at the cross.

A truly great and Godly salvation, given by a huge and powerful, compassionate and truly loving God to a 100% undeserving creation.

The fellowship of His sufferings is about persecution and being hated for His name sake, not about sickness and i agree there is much to be said for it- that is what we are called to and should rejoice in.- However I also agree that true growth takes place in the valley. That can be of whatever form of trials, temptations, sufferings IF we go through it in faith and patience not with murmurings and unbelief.

So this is the thing the last verse you posted shows the truth of this in regard to SOZO for healing. Will we possibly have a trial of faith in regards to our healing? SURE! But it is a trial of FAITH. It is only a trial of faith, if in the midst of the sickness we remain in FAITH for our healing sozo. Can God mature us in a tiral of faith about sickness OF COURSE! AMEN But that does not mean that itis Gods will that we remain sick but that we walk in faith for His salvation in healing that He already promised us.

This is not about God being at our beck and call because God has already done the work- and made the promises of sozo in redard to healing. Jesus already fulfilled the prophescy and took the stripes and by them we WERE healed.- The finished work of our sozo in regards to all things- including healing- was already accomplished, given, provided, and promised. Now it is for us to walk in faith of that finished work. We must walk through our trial of faith knowing we have already recieved it- that we already were healed because it is Gods work and word that is true not what we see or feel.

God does not say no to His promises, He only says yes and amen when we walk in faith. Jesus told us to ask and believe that we have already recieved it- THEN we shall have it.

A trial of faith to produce patience would not be fruitful if we could not actually believe that He will do what He said He did.In our trials we will end up in unbelief concerning His sozo in that area if we walk by sight and allow time to ware away at us and tell us " it must not have been his will". Only when we know the will of God for ALL his people, and know His promises and the work of Christ finished at the cross- can we walk in faith and in the knowledge of His will for us and all believers. Then we will overcome temptation to not believe him, and we will grow in that trial of faith and we will produce fruit- and the end of that trial is the having of what He promised. His sozo healing.

When truth is posted like this, one's spirit rejoices in the goodness of the Lord. Our spirit rises in hope, because all of a sudden we can see that even for us, a way out has already been made.

What a Godly thing to do ! God doing it all at the cross. Now we do not have to beg Him for anything, including healing, because He HAS already done it ! Now its easier for the believer to just walk in the truth.

The truth that Jesus "hath done it , and the fact that in the last days, a people will start proclaiming it , is prophesied in Psalm 22

Psa 22:30 A seed shall serve him; It shall be told of the Lord unto the next generation.
Psa 22:31 They shall come(That's us ! :) ) and shall declare his righteousness Unto a people that shall be born, that he hath done it.
Joh 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up his spirit.

Amen: It is finished, He "hath done it" . Praise You Jesus !

"It is finished", the most important words ever spoken by the most important man of all time. :yes if we could just grasp this statement in its entirety, lives would be changed and His work would be done on earth. He is a mighty God!

Hi DarcyLu , and we agree , but this is what " saved n: in Eph 2:8 and " it is finished " mean in the Greek .

Both " it is finished " and " saved " are both in the Greek Perfect Tense and mean the following !!!

And " it is finished " is a good example . that illustrates what the Perfect Tense means !!!!

#1 , the Perfect Tense , means that when Jesus said " it is finished " , it means that his DEATH on the cross will NEVER be repeated and never to die on the cross again because " it is finished "

#2, The perfect Tense , means , Past action with Continuing results in the Present .

#3, It also means , " it is finished and " saved " , means it is in the Passive Voice , which means that God did it , and not us !!!

#4 , And lastly , it is in the Indicative Mood , which means what happenned is a FACT .

#5 , That , means that Christ will never killed again as some do each week and that we are saved for ever .

"It is finished"

This statement declares that Jesus accomplished that which He came to do.Isa 61:1 The Spirit of the Lord Jehovah is upon me; because Jehovah hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
Isa 61:2 to proclaim the year of Jehovah's favor,
In short, He came to take the curse upon Himself so that we can go free IN THIS LIFE :) Praise God. Jesus had a mission and He saw it through to the end, so that He could declare "It is finished"

Now we have been freed . We , the captives to the curse, are now free IF we believe "It is finished". I will again repeat what Psalm 22 says about it:Psa 22:31 They shall come (Talking about us, the church) [/i]and shall declare his righteousness Unto a people that shall be born("shall be born" means its still in the Psalmist's future.), that he hath done it.

Amen, this is happening ! In our time, more and more Christians are saying :"Oh I realize now that Jesus has done it all at the cross ! He HAS healed me, He HAS set me free, He HAS provided for me. He HAS taken the bondage of sin away from me." We are indeed living in the time of Psalm 22. More and more Christians are starting to walk in that truth and more and more are seeing that when they do that, they release the miraculous power of God into their lives.
