I found this poll on another site: I added a few options. I'll post the other sites results in the future for comparison:

None of the above. The greatest threat is a culture in which being a Christian is easy to the point of being desirable. It then becomes, not a thing of faith, but of society.

Luke-warm Christians

I think the issue is luke-warm Christians.

We have been COMMANDED, by Jesus, to spread the Gospel.

Some stats on how many Christians are actually involved in mission outreach are:

8) Despite Christ’s command to evangelize, 67% of all humans from AD 30 to the present day have never even heard of his name!!
9) 648 million Christians today (called Great Commission Christians) are active in Christ’s world mission; 1,352 million Christians ignore this mission!!
22) 91% of all Christian outreach/evangelism does not target non-Christians but targets other Christians! (stealing sheep)

i.e. Only 1/3 of all Christians are doing what Jesus commanded us to do.

I personally believe it's the way Christians act in comparisan to people of other faiths. There's two people, one is judging you mercilessly the other is nice and welcoming. Who would you go with? With two choices, people are always going to go with what doesn't make them feel sad, unless of course, the truth shines through.

But then that's like saying spinach would be better if it just tasted like ice cream. Sometimes that "judging" can't be done away with. Sometimes people demand their immorality be endorsed, otherwise they'll call you judgemental.

What we do rather than what we say

Ana'riel: I agree with you. We were in a small Bible study group last night and 3 of the people who had come to know Jesus said that it was because of the way their Christian friend had acted. Firm, truthful, loving.

On the other hand, one person said that they had NOT come, originally, to consider Christianity because of how hypocritical they believed a so-called "Christian" they knew actually lived.

I also found it very interesting that several of the group seemed to agree that it matters more what the person DID rather than what they SAID.

The group is small (12) so I would say we shouldn't draw finite conclusions from what these people explained their experiences were. But I think their comments are worth considering.

Kind regards
In Christ

Thank you Gary Bee :D You are right, it's more important what you do and how you act.

But then that's like saying spinach would be better if it just tasted like ice cream. Sometimes that "judging" can't be done away with. Sometimes people demand their immorality be endorsed, otherwise they'll call you judgemental.

That gives me an idea. Say you want a fat kid to stop eating ice cream and eat some spinach.

Do you say, "eat this spinach, you're fat"

Or do you say, "check out all the vitamens in this, this will help you grow strong and be healthy and have more energy"

You're right, either way the spinach won't taste like ice cream, but which statement would you respond better to? Either way you can't force the kid to eat spinach, but which way do you think would give you a better chance of getting through to him?

Explain that ice cream is unhealthy and then tell the child about spinach. But you don't have to tell the child they're fat just to tell them to avoid too much ice cream. Of course, who would take ice cream away from a child???

I don't even like analogies that talk about taking away ice cream. What kind of criminal are you???

I bet you even like rice cakes. Blechh!

BL :)

I think the biggest threat of Christianity is three things.

1) It is not marketable

2) It does not provide a quick fix.

3) It not about you.

I know these polls are mainliy opinion, but I don't understand why Christians are the biggest threat to Christianity. :sad

I once saw a poll/survey claiming that most Christians become christian/ become initially interested in it because of the way the Christians around them behave. :)

Can both be the case? If so, how? If not, which one do you think is less likely? :-?

Well, it just depends on what kind of Christian you have experience with, there are good ones and bad ones.

One can call it what they desire?? But the one word from my thinking is that of all of the professed Christians worldwide, STUMBLING BLOCKS are the main cause of danger for most of the outside world, as well AS THEMSELVES!

And the word in itself is about as misunderstood as the word LOVE.

the greatest single cause of atheism in the world today is christian who acknowleged things with their lips and then get on with their lifestyles.. that is what an unbelieveing world simply finds unbelievable... - sonic flood

i think the greatest threat to christianity today is the actions of those that call themselves christians... Not for the fact that they arent perfect.. but for the fact that they tend to see themselves as perfect and frown on those that are not.. or maybe the fact that people claim to be so open minded and yet if it contradicts their beliefs and ideas or threatens their "RELIGION and DOCTRINE" oooohhh my .. we do not see the fruit of love going forth at a time like this...

so if anyone is to blame.. i would say it would be ourselves
-- this is not saying everyone is like this.. but it is a big issue---

True! And as soon as God has His fill of it, & His Judgements have the 'screws' tightened even more so, (IN LOVE) for one to repent, then we will see Caesar needed for these Christless world denomination's to FORCE the 666 thing'y to STOP HIS JUDGEMENTS!! Sorow? Only for the trouble that they are in, huh? ---John
