The will of the Father is that you trust in his Son Jesus Christ for your salvation, plus nothing. No works, no obedience to the law, no religion, no predestination, no nothing. Faith that Jesus fulfilled the law for you. Faith that Jesus atoned for your sins. Faith that you have been justified by Jesus. Faith that you are a sinner saved by grace (God's goodness) and are 100% dependent on the life, death and resurrection of Jesus to save you.
"Religion is not an indication of faith, religion is an indication of the absence of faith". (By Robert D. Brinsmead). World famous theologian.
This is why many will say, "Lord, Lord, didn't we...." Matthew 7:22. This is a group of religious people that believe they can participate in their salvation by their works and obedience to the law. Not going to happen.
Many wonderful, spiritual things happen when a repentant sinner calls on Christ to save them, Romans 10:13.
1. They become born again, 1 Peter 1:23.
2. God spiritually places them "In Christ" Colossians 3:3.
3. Righteousness is to their account, Romans 4:5.
4. The become son's and daughters of God, John 1:12.
5. All of their sins are forgiven, 1 John 2:12.
6. They are granted eternal life, John 3:15.
Those that are trusting in their works and their obedience to the law (religion) will hear in the judgment, "I never knew you: depart from me, you that work iniquity" Matthew 7:23. Jesus never knew them because they had never called on Jesus to save them, Romans 10:13.
