I got this from Wiki, but did know it was first used as a place for land speed runs. On March 29, 1927 Major Henry Segrave and his Sunbeam 1000 Hp Mystery set a land speed record. Is this the one you were thinking of? Watched a special on Daytona and its history a while back with the old bootleggers and was so interesting how it all got it's start.im going back before that time.
I know a record was set here .
No,electric car record in my town. We could race on the beach and did before Daytona.
