Faith is believing God. God said that whosoever believes on his son should have everlasting life. Jesus said he is the son of God. Jesus said his words were spirit and life to those who will receive them. He said it was not enough to hear the words he spoke but to be saved, we must do them.
Yes, faith is a way of life.
Jesus said all that live righteously will suffer persecution. He said a servant is not above his master and if the world hated him, it would also hate his servants. He said they would beat, kill and cast some of his followers into prison. He said his followers would be evil spoken of and that those who killed them would think they were doing God service.
Yes, faith will have risks.
He said not to fear man and to not be afraid of those who kill the body and then can do no more, but fear God who can cast into hell. He asked what could a man get in this life that he would give in exchange for his soul. He said to not lay up treasure on earth but to sell what you have and give alms and you would have treasure in heaven that can’t rust, mold, or be taken away. He said to consider the birds that God feeds and the lilies that God clothes and not to be of a doubtful mind because he can take care of you.
No, faith is not to believe without reasoning, but to consider the heavens that declare the glory of God and reason that if the God who created all things so loved us that he would send his son to die for our sin, that there should be nothing we would put before loving and serving such a great and wonderful God. We should reason and meditate on him every day and seek to follow the words of life that Jesus spoke. To do otherwise would be unreasonable. Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.
Thank you for the reminder.
