What would you do if you could do anything?

Try working so much you have little time for hobbies or your marriage.retirement looks good to me.
In business, I never worked less than 12 hours a day and most days I worked 16 + hours because I had the responsibility for the children of every one of my men, also. Retirement is not the Golden Years but many will not realize the truth until it slaps them silly, I know!

It ain't what it's cracked up to be. I have discovered I have already lived my Golden Years during the 1950's.
My wife and I have discussed this.
I get a job change at "retirement"... Not a real retirement at all.

But I have heard of many people who die within two years of retiring... That sitting still driving them to an early grave.

It's a hard transition...

But I don't get to ever retire. " there is no rest for the wicked":nono
Well.... Till I'm dead and collecting dust on the mantelpiece.

Yet Things Were CheapER Then .If YOU Had To Buy A Car At THE Prices Of Today. You wouldn't buy one.I refuse to borrow money fir a used car.8 grand an I know it won't make the loan term.I work on those.

If a man follows the path set by God, he never retires. The German side of my family tree average seven years after retirement. The other side, my birth father's lives well into the low eighties and they do nothing more than to change the number of hours they work in their senior years. I am now 8 years past my Forced Retirement and, let me think, I believe I recall it was about two years after retirement that my Neurologist gave me six months to live and my Primary agreed.

It is severely limited but every morning I get up and exercise from my Motorized Wheelchair and I keep my mind sharp by studying the scriptures and working on people's photos that have degraded or have been damaged beyond recovery.

Because I love to serve, I'm convinced out LORD is blessing!

Jason,
You are trying to rationalize without all of the information... it does not work like that. Cost for any product is regional making it impossible to take the numbers to form a Base nor a Final Product without averaging All relevant numbers and that will require an Economist months with a complete staff, but!

My last vehicle was purchased on my Fixed Income and that blows your point into HyperSpace... somewhere! I live in the same, real world as you and the rest of the world. In my day Truck Drivers did not earn $18 an hour while training, we trained, at the very end, at $9 flat and fifty percent failed at being a Mixer Operator.

Today, American Made Products cost twice as much ut wages are tw9icew as high. Many, even most, people need an education and a Strong Arm to force them to use what they learn about operating on a budget.

What would you all love to do that you are not doing now?

I would go to school.
Nothing. My life was laid out before I was born (11/30/1945) Constant abuse. But I survived, Not I, but by intersession unaware. The Lord had a plan. I raised two children in the Lord. I never treated my children like I was raised. I was a witness unto the Lords Grace. Not perfect, but by grace received, it is grace I broadcasted to mankind. Not perfect, made mistakes, but I was never rejected, just chastised. I have no other desire that consumes me, but that thy Kingdom come, that thy will be done, when thy kingdom is established among men. I grieve daily as I see the evil nature of men, they kill, maim, and torture mankind, they pollute nature with no regard to the consequences, They treat animals (that God gave us to look after) with cruelty, Pets that would give their life for their master. The governments (that God sanctioned) of the people are self-serving, above the laws that they make for us, and corrupt. The flesh has desires; New cars, latest gadgets, and so on, but they quickly dissipate by the joy of the satisfaction and surety of the promises of God.

My point was is I don't care to work as I do.I don't have kids.

Nathan, nor jaci or Monica reside near me.they left two months ago.nathan with his dad in Tampa .Monica back to NC where it's cheaper.

She rented out cabins for less then what my mortgage is.it was her job. Those were four or five room cabins .

My goal is two retire from the guard in 2018.but unless I cut to the bones it's going to be hard.I don't get the big va pension or va health care.I will pay alot more then tricare even on my city job.which no longer has a pension plan.it's 401a and a pension if you were on it.I was bit not going get much from it.

Depending on the day, the importance changes order. But if I could do anything...

Learn to play the piano. Write a sci-fi book. Have a baby (my wife and I have been trying and not successfully). Learn a language (either sign language or Spanish, or both). Be a better Christian (everything that could be counted as better from more knowledgeable, know that I actually am saved and have the Holy Spirit OR actually become saved and have God in me, to how I am with more faith and less sin). Help other people, expecially to the point of where there was a heavy need; like a hero Sort of way. Be a better man (like being a better Christian, but a lot more about what I can do in work, be trained in, be less lazy, and be more reliable.)

Long enough list? :lol Either way I think so far it accounts for about all of the big things I would wish for if I could do anything.

It ain't what it's cracked up to be. I have discovered I have already lived my Golden Years during the 1950's.
By retire, I mean not being dependent upon a 9 to 5 job.
That would free me up to do stuff in our community. I'd really like to make a difference in the lives of people who are struggling.

My point was is I don't care to work as I do.I don't have kids.
But wants have not much to do with real life and my comment is based on real life, not conceived or misconceived ideas or wants. Life is not that way.

I'm more familiar with your statement.my wife is disabled and has been for ten years.

My dad as well.I don't intend to stop working at 65.

Many things.

If I could do anything, I'd stop poverty, hunger, and things of that nature. Then, I'd stop discrimination against people of different ethinic, religious, or sexual groups.
Then, I'd make it so Bernie wins the election.
Finally, I'd be older, a writer, happily married and living in a nice place in Lodi, California. Finally, I'd take away my power to do anything.

And stop global warming of course.

God set the world in motion and it has, ever since, cooled and warmed. None of us can undo what He has set in motion.

I"d go back and obtain a B.S.E.E or a degree in math and physics (which a BSEE is, actually). And, in fact, I plan on doing just that when I retire, as college and university in Georgia is tuition free for those over 62 years of age.
