What's your heritage?

I think it's kinda fitting, brake. Indian Tribes lived here first, it makes sense that they'd have a portion of many bloodlines.

Another mutt checking in here:

English
Irish
Dutch
Dakota Souix
Smidgen of German

Amazing too how many of us have Irish as well. I wonder how many have the same kind of family story that I have: Irish guy jumps off the boat searching for a better life than the potato famine offers, comes face to face with bigotry and prejudice against the Irish, makes his way out further west and winds up marrying an Indian woman. That was on my mother's side. My dad's side provided the Dutch and German, both contributed the English.

Hubby is a mix of English and Hungarian, my daughter is English and some Indian and my son is African. So, we have our own little melting pot going as well.

It's a relief to know that I'm not fellowshipping with a bunch of white supremacist skinheads. :lol
Similar situation here in NZ. Many mixed families involving Pacific Islanders, but particularly Maori.

I am of French, German, and Native American descent. Though mostly proud to be an American. Was after all born in the states.....though perhaps not as prideful as some.

:waving hi,

i'm an absolute odd ball... :silly

in my herritage there is:

-Welsh
-Maltese
-English

in hubbys there is:

-French
-English
-Irish

so our poor daughter is a genuine bits-a!! :toofunny

My grandmother on my mother side is full blooded cherokee, and my grandpaw full blooded Irish. My grandparents on my daddy's side is full blooded Welsh. So that makes me a 1/3 Cherokee, 1/3 Irish, 1/3 Welsh. So my mother is 1/2 cherokee, and 1/2 irish, though she favors more cherokee with the blackish dark brown hair and eyes. My real dad is blonde hair and brillant sky blue eyes, see them a mile away. And I got caught in the midde with hazel eyes, and light brown hair, which is now blonde in a bottle. :lol

Cherokee
Irish
Welsh

It would be interesting to see if anyone can trace their lineage back to royalty (like our presidents).

There are no shortage of genealogies that go back to there, and even to Judah-Israel and thus Adam and Eve theoretically.

I did not trace mine to any royalty yet, but my wife and I both have strong German and Swiss roots and to a lesser degree Anglo-Saxon and Celtic.

Both of us had famous ancestors with our present surnames---- her 5x grandfather owned and farmed what is now Coopersburg Pa and produced many ministers, congressmen, doctors and the like.

I had at least one famous ancestor--- My 4x grandfather was the richest man in California and the same guy who had that observatory built on Mt. Hamilton. Ironically (and my wife hates when I say this), my famous ancestor and her famous ancestor both had women with the same rare surname and thus I found that my wife and I are probably distant cousins. we traced back something like 11 generations or so.

I have an Anglo-Saxon chief on my mother's father's side. His name was Paetta, and when his tribe came over from Germany (before it was ever Germany), they settled on a hill in Northamptonshire, England. The village became Pattishall, which is a contraction of Paetta's Hill, and my mother's name is traced back to him.

Also, Paul Revere's mother came from the same set of Pattishalls, so in some distant way he is a cousin.

On my mother's mother's side, we are directly related to Bishop Ridley. He was an Anglican bishop in London who was martyred on Oct 16, 1555 for refusing to recant his Protestant faith.

100% Irish (northern mainly) though I am Scottish (born and bred there).

hubby's cousin has recently been working on a very thorough family history, way back for decades, and traced the family line back to a bunch of rebel French noblemen who overthrew a king!!! Wow! The surname used to be DePhair, but was changed to Phair when they fled to Ireland... many moons ago :) my family history is much harder to trace, the records go back as far as the convict ships and then stop, no paperwork to be found :( so my family were decended from a bunch of criminals and corrupt nobles as far as we know :( dear me, i hope that doesn't reflect badly on us :D lol.

Unconfirmed evidence suggests that my most famous ancestor was a Governor of Jamaica. Unfortunately he was known more for his less than ideal occupation prior to his work for the govt. His name was Henry Morgan.

Just a friendly warning to anyone that uses genealogy sites, most of the free ones are owned and operated by the Mormon church they use them to further their odd rituals of baptism foe the dead.

I don't fully agree with Mormon doctrine, but I found information on my family there. When I found additional evidence, I found they were correct. But it's like anything and has to be checked against other sources. They do not claim to be 100% correct.

Im adopted so its a bit of a mystery. My natural fathers last name was Keft.Any ideas? :help

I don't completely know. I know I am 1/2 Hispanic on my Dad's side of the family. My mom is Irish-something... So I suppose I could be 1/4 Irish and 1/4 of a mystery ingredient. :D

Just a warning if you have used their services they WILL look up your family and baptise those that have passed.
