The topic of adultery has often been mentioned in personal conversation and online.
I have friends who are adulterers and do not see anything wrong with it. There are even some Christian folks that I know who are committing adultery. This is a sin that I find that even Christians seem to take lightly.
Several years ago a friend who is now deceased said to me, she said girl have you ever read what God said to ancient Israel concerning their idolatry which he equated with spiritual adultery. She told me to read the book of Ezekiel, I did and for the past few years I have been reading this book. I know the pain of an adulterous relationship since my ex was an adulterer. My grandfather was one along with my father. I know all sins are grievous in God's sight but when I see the imagery Christ used, marriage and his church, no one can deny that this is relationship which is called marriage is a serious thing in God's sight.
Ezekiel 23
The Story Of Oholah (verses 1-10)
The Story Of Oholibah (verses 11-21)
(i) You have built your high place at every head of the way, and have made your beauty to be abhorred, and have opened your feet to every one that passed by, and multiplied your prostitutions.
Although the statement mentioned here concern women, I believe that adultery is not a gender thing..both men and women commit this sin.
Ephesian 5:22-23
This outlines the importance of marriage.
I find today that there are people who take marriage lightly. I have three sons who are married, and I constantly encourage them to be faithful. I know we all have weakness, but a couple who are faithful to each other have God's blessings.
