When you gave your heart to Jesus

When you gave your heart to Christ, you were changed on the inside. That's what it means to be born again. The Holy Spirit now lives inside of you. You didn't change on the outside: the change is in your spirit. You may not feel any differently, but Christians know that they don't base their lives on what they feel, but on what God says. And He says in His Word that anyone who trusts in Christ is a brand new person. You may have been a Christian for a few months, or a few years. But no matter how long you have known Christ, being a Christian never grows old. Does your life still reflect the changes that happened to you when you became a believer? Make today a day of new beginnings!

A prayer for today:

God, thank you for changing me and saving me. Help me to live the life in a way that reflects the change in my heart when I received You. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

May God bless, Golfjack

I am concerned when I hear someone say

"I gave my heart to Jesus" as it usually comes along with the old line that Jesus will make your life good and never includes the law of God and the fact that we have broken it and need to repent or face the fierce wrath of God.

Too many people "give their heart to Jesus" to see if it will fill their needs only to find out that there is trials, tribulations, and persecution to be endured and then they take their heart back.

If a person is truly and soundly saved, not just a tare among the wheat, they will reflect change all the time. The Lord is mighty to keep all that is His from falling back into the world. Those who have truly come to the Lord will not need to be reminded or followed up on. They will stay with Him because they are "His sheep and they know His voice and follow Him."

We need to be telling people that they are sinners and explaining what that means. We need to bring them to the foot of the blood stained cross knowing it is their depravity that caused it and that without the forgiveness of God found only through Jesus that they will reap all the punishment due.

We need to let them know that they should not expect what the modern prosperity gospel presents to them. That the only thing that is promised them by the Bible is eternal life and that this is enough to see them through the trials.

Only when a sinner sees their utter hopelessness and the fact that hell stands waiting for them will they flee to the Savior in the right motives.

Don't "give your heart to Jesus." Flee to Him in humble fear of the wrath to come and beg Him to save and forgive you. When you do, then He will take residence in your heart and impart His forgiveness.

The Law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul
Psalm 19:7

We are under the grasp of the Law of God and need Someone to pay our fine.

Following Him will not be easy but the alternative is to be feared. Flee to Him for safety and you will find that you will come to love Him with all that you are.

Actually, where does this 'give your heart to Jesus' come from? I can't find it anywhere in scripture :-?
I agree. We accept His salvation and cast ourselves at His mercy and then offer our bodies as a living sacrifice.
