Do you write from your own experiences?
I've been reading a lot of fiction lately and not one of the books has had a note of reality to it. It makes me wonder where writers are getting their material from. Sometimes characters are so one-dimensional they might as well be cardboard cutouts. Someone said that writers should write what they know because it will seem more real.
So, where do you get your inspiration for plots and characters?
