I enjoy the sharpness of the IPAD in viewing video's or movies (NetFLix) (Youtube)
I like reading books on Nook and Kindle on the IPAD, and I like how they instantly download when you buy a book.

What I like about laptops is the easiness of the keyboard, and the layout of bookmarks. I like how my laptop saves passwords so I don't have to write them in over and over everyday. (talk about lazy. its like getting up to change a tv channel without a remote)

So, if I had to choose, I would choose the IPAD.

Y'll got way more money than me. I've never bought one girly phone yet; real men stay tethered to the wall. Real men? Maybe I should have said Old Men. :lol

Desktop...... no less than a 22" screen.

Desktop for me too. I had my 48" TV hooked up as a monitor until the bulb burnt up.

I'm on my phone right now. My computer took a dive finally and I haven't replaced it yet. I *might* get a laptop.

I like laptops over IPADs for the same reason you do. I simply can't type easily on those things. (Same problem with phones!) Maybe there OK for people who don't know how to type and just use one or two fingers, but I touch type with all 10 fingers almost as fast as I talk. I need a real keyboard for that. So I have a laptop for my "away from home" computer, such as at work where I am now.

I have a Nook that is great for reading books too. Nothing better than an evening in the mountain wilderness, laying in bed in my camper with a good book on the Nook. But I don't use it as a computer. Just to cumbersome and to hard to use that way.

For home I have a fast desktop with lots of memory, good processor and graphics card, and dual monitors, one 27" and one 22". But all that is for my flight sim hobby. The programs that have to all run simultaneously for that need a desk top and lots of monitor real estate. They also need the air circulation space and cooling capacity of a full size case with extra large heat sinks and fans to cool all the hardware including a processor running at 80% to 100% for hours at a time. I don't think you can do that in a laptop and just the heat sink on my processor is bigger than an entire IPAD! :-)

I have a Kindle Fire HD6, a Lenovo T400 and because my hands have become unstable, I don't build custom Desk Tops, but my wife bought me an HP 400-224 Slimline with a 27" Acer Monitor to swing out over my bed.

I read my NASB and books on my Kindle and oft set in the Dump Truck Recliner using my T400 Lap Top. But if I do any Photo work I want to see it and prefer using my HP for that and because it has a Wireless Keyboard I prefer writing my book from there. For the web, any of the three.

Ditto on the desktop. I prefer the larger screens and external keyboard. Even our mini 10.5" laptop I find to be less appealing to use than our desktop.

Desktops are more powerful. I can relax in my recliner with just the keyboard and mouse perched near me.

Computer for sure. Bigger screen so it's easier to see and more to do on it.

Oh the joys of technology and the lazy generation.

Ill take one of whatever is the easiest to use and has more functions.

Soon i may even be able to order food to my door. Oh yea, i already can.

Maybe they could make a laptop/massage chair in one. Nothing like ording a pizza to my lap while doing work on the internet and getting a massage all at the same time.

Life is great.

Just need a auto dishwasher button through wireless.

Soon people wont even need to leave the massage chair. Just push a button and it turns into a bed. How healthy is that.

Depends. This site is great on the phone or tablet, so for me it's fine for most uses of the site.

But for doing many admin tasks, nothing beats the laptop with 23" external monitor. When you're editing the site's code you need that real estate and the physical keyboard for touch typing.

You still have to get up to answer the door when the pizza delivery guy comes. Oh the travails we go through. When will they ever invent Star Trek transporters so that we can stay in our chairs, and have the pizza transported directly to the table beside our chair.

Problem solved. The robots deliver and drop the pizza through the food hole that slides its way down to the massage chair/bed.

Yes, Amazon is experimenting with robotic aerial package delivery drones. Once they are perfected, we can hire a contractor to build the food slot. Genius.

I heard that, drones delivering packages is kind of creepy if you ask me.

They are also experimenting with robots driving trucks, and planes. Robots already make a lot of products in factories.

I'm a touch typist, so anything less than a full keyboard screws up my ability to type quickly. Even a laptop limits my pace. However, my wife and I are considering the purchase of a laptop in the after-Christmas sales (great reductions in prices generally). My wife has an IPad but I'm not going in that direction because of the typing limitations.

It depends on what I'm doing with it. When I was guitar teching and going around to conventions more, I loved the Ipad for quick sketches, uploading, and I have a modeling program to help with finding a guitar sound and testing equipment.

I prefer my desktop when I'm doing heavy photoshop work and relaxing. Tablets haven't quite made it to fully functioning machines for enterprise or heavy lifting yet. Though they are getting there. The latest Motorola and Samsung phones are running 4GBs of Ram, 8 to 10 core processors, and android is looking to combine Chrome OS with Android soon, so tablets are getting a decent upgrade soon.

Window's Surface line is the convergence of a laptop, desktop, and tablet. I would love to have one for my design work, it definitely is not a gaming machine, but I don't game much anymore anyway.
