It depends on what I'm doing with it. When I was guitar teching and going around to conventions more, I loved the Ipad for quick sketches, uploading, and I have a modeling program to help with finding a guitar sound and testing equipment.
I prefer my desktop when I'm doing heavy photoshop work and relaxing. Tablets haven't quite made it to fully functioning machines for enterprise or heavy lifting yet. Though they are getting there. The latest Motorola and Samsung phones are running 4GBs of Ram, 8 to 10 core processors, and android is looking to combine Chrome OS with Android soon, so tablets are getting a decent upgrade soon.
Window's Surface line is the convergence of a laptop, desktop, and tablet. I would love to have one for my design work, it definitely is not a gaming machine, but I don't game much anymore anyway.
Milk,
You used too much heavy geek language for me here, but I must say that my wife, who is a jazz pianist, finds the iPad excellent for her purposes, including actual music she uses for gigs that she and the band does.
