There are two that are preached today in the church.

Jesus no 1 ) He came to save me, through His death on the cross. I invited Him into my heart, so I am eternally safe. I am only a sinner saved by His grace and will be a sinner until I reach heaven.I cannot overcome sin here, because its part of my nature, but He knows my heart and loves me as I am. I am covered by His blood. When I am sick, I pray and believe that if it is His will, He will heal me. But I know that even if He does not, one day in heaven I will be free from all sickness . I cannot be perfect here on earth. He knows I love Him, therefor I am His child.I try my best to please Him.God is not finished with me yet, I am a work in progress.

Jesus no 2) He paid for my sins on the cross and also crucified my old nature to the cross. He became my substitute . I live no more, but He now lives in me.(Gal 2:20 )I am dead to sin and the sin nature has been removed from me(Rom 6). I now can overcome sin, because Jesus came to take away the sin of the world. He removed the curse 100% from me, if I walk and live IN Christ. Christ the Word is the lamp that guides my walk . Through His stripes we WERE healed, so I know that He took my sickness upon Himself so that I can have health. He provides ALL my needs. Through Him, by faith , I have been perfected in this life and in this life I can and will manifest Christ.1Jn 3:2 ......if he shall be manifested, we shall be like him; for we shall see him even as he is. He has given me everything I need for life and godliness (2Peter 1) I am being born again from above all the time as I partake of the Word. It washes my mind and transforms me into the image of His Son, Jesus Christ, as I take up my cross and die to self. I will be holy as He is holy , because without holiness no man shall see the Lord. I overcome as He overcame, so I will sit on the throne with Him as He sat down in the throne of His Father. I will have authority in THIS life, to rule the nations with a rod of iron, when He reveals the sons of God (Romans 8 ) What I have by faith now, I WILL have by manifestation, because it will be to me according to my faith. Those who endure to the end shall be saved.

Definitely #2! People keep saying we are "sinners saved by grace", but we are not called that in God's word; we are called "saints" in several scriptures in Matthew through Revelation (I found 61 references). I assure you, though, that I don't feel and seldom act very saintly. :angel3

The sin nature will not be completely removed from us to make us perfect until we see Him face to face.
1John 3:2-3. He did take out existing sin at the moment from us and made us as white as snow, this is quite true. But if He had taken all of our sin from us meaning even future sins, we would then be perfect and would not need to worry about ever sinning again. This is not the case. As long as we are down here on this earth we will sin and the sin nature is still with us.

Gal 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

This simply means that after we are saved, Christ comes and lives in your heart. This does not mean you will never sin again. It simply means that you now have the power to overcome sin, unfortunately some people do not shoes to use His power and would rather sin. This grieves the Holy Spirit.

You said (He removed the curse 100% from me)
If that were so you would not die and would already be glorified. Jesus did take away your punishment in hell and will now bring you to heaven if you remain with him and not turn to the lift or to the right.

1John 3:6 No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him.

This Scripture means that you can not go on living a life of sin and be comfortable in it. You will be driven to repent of your sin and turn to God. The Power of the Holy Spirit will not let you live in sin and be comfortable.

It probably means that most people don't have an answer, or the subject doesn't interest them. I avoid anything that doesn't interest me, to which I don't have an answer, or things that get people too heated up and angry and turns into an argument instead of a debate. In my opinion, though, "debate" is just a polite word for "argue".

I just got this from an e-list I'm on...

WHICH JESUS Do YOU SERVE??-Postred by Brendon Powell.

There seems to be more than one Jesus to choose from these days. Which one is the true Jesus and who am I following? ·
There’s a ‘seeker friendly’ Jesus, he’s the one who will not offend anyone in anyway. He loves everyone no mater what they do. ·
There’s a ‘sow and reap’ Jesus, he made a covenant with man so that man could sow his seed and reap wealth and happiness on earth and then go to heaven when he dies.
There’s a ‘blend in with the world’ Jesus, he wants us to look like, act like, and be like the world in order to reach the lost. ·
There’s a ‘neverending grace’ Jesus, his ‘grace’ covers us no matter what we do or how we live. There’s a ‘just believe’ Jesus. As long as you truly believe in your heart, you’re saved. ·
There’s a ‘name it claim it’ Jesus. You name it; anything and it’s yours! If you don’t get it, it’s because you lack faith. It’s your fault. ·
There’s a ‘carnal’ Jesus. He doesn’t expect you to overcome sin, he understands you’re just carnal. ·
There’s a ‘heart dwelling’ Jesus. All you have to do is ask him into your heart and voilà, he’s there. You’re going to heaven!

Truth:
There’s the Jesus who said “Repent and believe the gospel, the kingdom of God is at hand.†-Mark 1:15He said, “Deny yourself, take up your cross and follow Him.†-Lk 9:23-25He said without Him you are already condemned. -John 3:18He said He came to save the world -John 3:16He said unless you forsake all you have, you cannot be His disciple. -Luke 14:33 He said if we love anyone more than Him we are not worthy of Him.-Matt 10:37-39 He said if you love this life you’ll lose it. -John 12:25-26He said you cannot serve God and money. -Matt 6:24He said fear God who can destroy both body and soul in hell. -Mt 10:28He said be extreme in your war against sin. -Matt 18:8-9He said love God with all your heart, soul and mind and your neighbour as yourself. -Matt 22:37-39He said He is the light of the world. –John 8:12He said the gate is narrow and the way is difficult and few find it. -Matt 7:13-14He said those who believe in Him but work iniquity will becast out. -Matt 7:21-23He said you’ll be hated for His name’s sake, but if you endure to the end, you’ll be saved. -Matt 10:22 He said I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but by Me. –John 14:6

It is a rather important question though. Only one Jesus is the correct one, the other one is not .

We have to decide :
1) I want to believe I am right, even though it might not be the truth.
2)I don't care to change, I like the way I believe now, even though it is not 100% correct.
3) I care enough about my eternal life to open myself to the possibility that I might be wrong.
4) I care enough about my eternity to make this a serious matter of prayer between me and the Lord.

5) I may as well quit struggling because His will is going to be done anyway.

Php 2:13 for it is God who worketh in you both to will and to work, for his good pleasure.

The sign that God is willing in you, is that you are working according to His good pleasure.
If there is no fruit coming forth, we are not working according to his good pleasure. These "works" are not works unto salvation, they are works because OF salvation. We are known by our fruit.

Here are the Fruit :

2Pe 1:5 Yea, and for this very cause adding on your part all diligence in your faith, supply virtue; and in your virtue knowledge;
2Pe 1:6 and in your knowledge self-control; and in your self-control patience; and in your patience godliness;
2Pe 1:7 and in your godliness brotherly kindness; and in your brotherly kindness love.
2Pe 1:8 For if these things are yours and abound, they make you to be not idle nor unfruitful unto the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

I don't believe there's only one way to salvation as in free-will or predestination. I honestly believe both are at work.
While I absolutely agree with your posts I wasn't doing any "work" at all before being saved. While the sun was up I was my old self but the evening of Aug 21, '98, I was saved on a back porch in Clinton, Utah. I wasn't looking for God.
My mentor told me pretty much the same thing happened to him though he struggled for a couple weeks. He surrendered though. And through him I met another such fellow, a bouncer working for a bar, who tried to resist the call but he too capitulated. He started a lawncare business thereafter. :D
There are those that seek him and He answers their prayers. And of course there are those who seek him and nothing happens. I'm not going to even venture a guess between the two.

Agreed. :thumbsup

But again, sometimes it's not salvation following works but works following salvation. It was because I was forgiven much, that evening, then and there on the spot, that I knew His grace of salvation. And because I knew what He had done I had a strong desire to find out who He is. I wanted to get to know him more and absolutely devoured the bible in the 6 months of my discipleship that followed. I found I could actually understand the bible whereas the years before I saw only contradiction, superstition and tall tales. A whole new realm had been opened to me and I was like a kid in a candy store including all the ohhs and awws. Oh what a time that was!!

Maybe it's because your well-intended original post is (somewhat) a false dichotomy? IMO, the truth lies somewhere between those positions.

Amen.

I told a friend today, that Christianity has two works. One group still keep the Law through works and the other have works because they are saved.

Here is the example:

Two Christians . Each have an apple. There are two beggars. Both Christians give the apple to the beggar.

1) Christian number one, gives because its the right thing to do. The Bible tells us to give.
2) Christian number two, gives because Christ in him, compels him to give, because of the compassion in his heart.

1) Gives unto salvation
2) Gives because of salvation.

Amen! righteousness and holiness. 2 sides of the same coin, so to speak (although working in a different dimension).

Luke 18:9-14 Also He spoke this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others; "Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a pharisee and the other a tax collector.
"The pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, 'God, I thank You that I am not like other men-extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even this tax collector. 'I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess,
"And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, 'God be merciful to me a sinner!'
"I tell you, this man went down to his house justified "rather" than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be abased, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."

First off, I'm by no means implying that you are a pharisee. I'm using these scriptures to make a point. However, notice the focus of the pharisee on others, including the tax collector as a means of self-comparison. This is seems to be human nature.
