Growth Whizdum

"But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy." James 3:17

Where to you seek wisdom? Many people are spending lost of time and money on education and technology. This "wisdom" could also be spelled whizdum. Seeking this kind of wisdom is flawed at best, and it isn't going to get you to the true wisdom of the Lord.

Solomon asked God for wisdom and God gave him that wisdom. "And God gave Solomon wisdom and exceedingly great understanding...Thus Solomon's wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the east and the wisdom of Egypt." (1 Kings 4:29-30)

Where, exactly, do you seek wisdom? Do you seek it from earthly places like universities? Or do you seek it from the Lord? His wisdom is freely given and much more powerful that earthly wisdom.

One receives Spiritual wisdom from the Lord.

One receives knowledge of their field to have a occupation where they can work as the Lord says we should work and support our families and others less fortunate.
Bill Gates, called whiz kid, has nothing to do with wisdom. It has to do with a high IQ and focus that allowed him to excel in the field of technology and gain knowledge in that field.

Paul being a tentmaker, learned the knowledge of that occupation from other tentmakers that were skilled in that field.

Even in the Spiritual gifts we see that there is a difference between the gift of wisdom and the gift of knowledge. Both being Spiritual.
There is a knowledge given by the Spirit of things one could not know by any other means.
This is very different then the knowledge learned for one's occupation or even one's pleasure say in pottery making and such.

I believe that Charles Spurgeon was one who received this gift of knowledge from the Lord.

one of the most gentle, best teachers in the last several hundred years was watchman nee, and he addressed this topic starting with a simple true observation "that which is born of the flesh is flesh" ... ... and in line with Scripture and from Scripture proceeds to show the truth of the matter, very graciously.
this link (below) isn't that particular lesson, but a start in that direction (I couldn't find the specific link yet),

Bill Gates is a brilliant business man, so was Paul. Brilliance in business has nothing to do with spiritual wisdom. That is the world's wisdom and it is flawed at best. Only true wisdom comes from the Lord. Paul also had spiritual wisdom.

That is so true.

I did read the post. I was reinforcing what you said. Sorry if I confused you.

Well thank goodness, I'd hate to think we were not in agreement on such a simple thing.
Thanks for your letting me know. Peace in my heart now. :nod

Blessings
The truth be told, I don't think the Bill Gates has much wisdom in anything. Like you say he was a whiz kid and an A type personality. He and his cohorts used to sleep at work for the first couple of years. He started the Bill Gates Foundation. I'm not at all impressed with the way he is spending the money. Seems to me he is hurting more people that he is helping. That isn't showing wisdom at all.

That is what I was trying to show. Wisdom and knowledge are Not the same thing.
What we learn in college (not counting Bible institutions) is knowledge in a particular field, not wisdom.
Bill Gates knowledge of technology is wisdom and especially not Spiritual wisdom.
I know very little about his foundation and don't pay attention. I only used him because he was the first person I thought of relating to technology, I could have just as easily used Steve Jobs.

I have heard that the Bill Gates Foundation is funds the eugenics program. That has to do with population control. Rumor has it that he is spending money vaccinating children in third world countries. That all sounds well and good, but the vaccines are killing and maiming children. He has also spent money researching genetically modified foods. They say it is about improving crop yields and solving world hunger. Actually, GMO's are responsible for wiping out much of the bee population and environmental disasters in the making all over the world. I don't think we should mess with food. It should remain the way God made it. I believe he knows what he is doing.

whizdum-dee whizdum-doe fee fie fiddly here i go .... :)

"Man’s head damages people more than man’s heart! Were believers to learn how to distinguish the renewal of heart from the renewal of head, they would not commit the mistake of believing in man. Christians ought to realize that even one who maintains a most intimate fellowship with God may nevertheless unknowingly have accepted Satan’s suggestions in his mind, which consequently precipitate errors in his conduct, words and viewpoints! Aside from the plain teaching of the Bible no man’s words are entirely trustworthy. We must not live by a man’s words just because we admire or respect that man. His utterance and conduct may be most holy but his thought may not be spiritual. What we therefore observe is not his speech and behavior but his mind. Were we to believe, because of one’s life conduct, that what a worker says is God’s truth, we would then be making man’s word and demeanor our standard of truth instead of the Bible. History is strewn with innumerable cases of sanctified saints who propagated heresies! The simple explanation is that their hearts were renewed but their minds remained old. We will undeniably acknowledge that life is more important than knowledge. Indeed, the former is a thousand times more consequential than the latter. Nonetheless, after some growth in life it is essential to seek the knowledge which proceeds from a renewed mind. We should see how urgent it is for both heart and head to be renewed."? from http://www3.telus.net/trbrooks/mindbattlefield.htm
