Who Can Explain Everything A Christian Does & Doesn't Do To Be A Christian ??

I said everything !!

Jesus first preach what you have to do to be a Christian in Matthew 3:2.
That mean we have to have any behavior like Christ in our life that we haven't lived out before.
That mean we have to have any behavior like Christ in our life that we need to get back in our life again.

When the wisdom of man think about behavior they think you talking about don't steal, lie, kill, judge, hate and fool around on people's mate.

Christian behavior also talking about water baptism----John 3:5.
Christian behavior also talking about Sabbath rest----Hebrews 4.
Christian behavior also talking about 1 Peter 3:3 or jewelry----John 8:31.
Christian behavior also talking about man rebuking man----James 5:20.
Christian behavior also talking about holy preachers or 1 Timothy 2---John 5:39
Christian behavior also talking about money contentment---1 Timothy 6
Christian behavior also talking about blessing certain people only--Gal. 1:8-9.
Christian behavior talking about holy segregation too---2 Cor. 6:14-17.
Christian behavior talking about who to dump to the curb too---Titus 3:10.
Christian behavior talking about holy marriage enough---Romans 7:2-3.
Christian behavior telling you to get in people's business enough---1 Thess. 5:12
Christian behavior saying belief in Jesus being God is holy to make it---John 8:24
Christian behavior is about biblical perfection in God----Matthew 4:4.
Christian behavior is skillful in biblical perfection in God---1 John 2:27
Christian behavior may replace the old law but doesn't say the old law
is evil------Matthew 5:17.
Christian behavior doesn't say any of the new law is outdated--John 1:17.
Christian behavior is not content with meeting with a sweeheart
only----Amos 3:3.
Christian behavior is not just about accomplishments---Matthew 7:22:23
Christian behavior is not just about gifts of the Holy Spirit---Romans 11:29.
Christian behavior is not just about being a blood boaster---Romans 6:1.
Christian behavior doesn't esteem the common sense of man to make it too
much----Isaiah 64:6 and Matthew 5:18-20.
Christian behavior is not a advocate of tolerating 2 opposing intrepretations of people just to have a meeting in God ---------2 Peter 1:20-21.
Christian behavior is bold about what a lie is and what truth is
only---Romans 3:1-4.

As we see way more to the list then giving up smoking and getting drunk.
As we see way more to the list then giving up pimping or prostituting.
As we see way more to the list then giving up swearing and cussing.
As we see way more to the list then giving up drugs or kidnapping.

Shortly later Matthew 3:2 taught about repenting with water baptism like it's told in John 3:5.

Matthew 3:2 and John 3:5 is then compiled up in general with John 8:31.

So whatever bible verse has instructions for us it's in harmony with living out
John 8:31.

That mean any bible verse has rules to live out so we can live out John 8:31.

John 5:39 says perfection in God like this is not as easy as 1, 2, 3 all the time.

That's where John 14:26 come in at to bring any bible verse in the bible to your memory to make a correction or compliance with biblical revelation given.

Christianity is more then a simple common sense religion where you got it all figured out so natural on your own---Acts 17:28 and 1 Cor. 8:2 and Isaiah 64:6.

If that's all Christianity is to a person then the bible speaks in Matthew 5:18-20.

It confirms this so again in Romans 10:2-3 .

No short cut religion with blood only---Romans 6:1.

Liers hate lies exposed----John 8:44.

Philosophers want religion to their self in vain---2 Peter 1:20-21.

Unbelievers mock truth being all God proveable----2 Timothy 3:16 and John 8:32.

God does His part, we must do our part, there are way too many "if" statements in scripture to ignore. If we abide in Christ and He in us and follow "Love the Lord with all your heart and with all your sould and love your neighbor as ourselves", we will continue abiding in Him, we surely won't be murdering someone by following this!

Too many times, Christians get saved and think that is enough, not being taught any thing other than the dangerous, falsity of OSAS.

peace -

WOAH!!!! where'd you get all THAT?????

EVERYTHING!!!!!!

Is only ONE thing.

Jesus, and HIM crucified for YOUR sin. When your FAITH is in Jesus to be your righteousness before God - You're good to go.

You'll mature, of course and do some "good stuff" -

But the ONLY righteousness you'll EVER possess - of that of Jesus that you're clothed with by faith.

My friend, have you ever read 1 John 3:1-10?

John 3:1-10

3:1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. 2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. 3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. 4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. 5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin. 6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. 7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. 8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother. KJV

There are many other passages that I could give you but this is sufficient to illustarate that there are two type of righteousness:

1. the righteousness that we receive when we confess our sins and turn from them asking God to forgive us based upon the blood that Jesus shed on the cross for us.

2. The righteousness that one get's from walking in obedience to God.

Have you ever heard of John Macarthur? He wrote a book called 'The Gospel According to Jesus' and another book called "Slave". I highly recommend that you get these books and read them. John does a fairly good job of telling the truth about the roll that works plays in our walk with God.

But think about this: Faith is not just a belief in certain facts about the death burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Faith is to believe that Jesus is the King of kings, and the Lord of lords. It is to believe that He is your lord and master. Thus believing this you submit your life to Him completely. And you obey His every command. Faith without obediance is not true faith. For what you believe will always control what you do! For example. IF you beleive that Jesus is your Lord: then when you are in a store and you are tempted to steal something, you will remember that Jesus is your Lord, and He has commanded you in the Bible to never steel. So you then resist the temptation to steal so that you will obey your Lord. You will do this only if you truly believe that Jesus is your Lord! IF you do not believe that Jesus is your Lord; You will steal! So we see that what we believe, controls what we do!

Hears a few more scriptures for you:

Rom 8:5-8

For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. KJV

1 Cor 6:17-20

17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. 19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's. KJV

Matt 22:37-40
37 Jesus said to him, "
'You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets." NKJV

Deut 6:5-9

5 You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. 6 "And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. 7You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. 8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. 9 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. NKJV

1 John 5:2-5

2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments. 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. 4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world -- our faith. 5 Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? NKJV

2 John 6

6 This is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, that as you have heard from the beginning, you should walk in it. NKJV
John 15:9-15

"As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. 10 If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love. 11 "These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full. 12 This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends. 14 You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. NKJV

John 14:15-24

"If you love Me, keep My commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever -- 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. 19 Indwelling of the Father and the Son. "A little while longer and the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you will live also. 20 At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. 21 He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him." 22 Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, "Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?" 23 Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. 24 He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father's who sent Me. NKJV

2 John 9-11

9 Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son. 10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him; 11 for he who greets him shares in his evil deeds. NKJV

If we do these things we will be righteous and holy. If we do not do these things we will certainly go to hell!

Let us daily walk in obedience to the will of God in all things.

Just for clarity in hopes of following this post, Are you asking . . . To be, To Become a Christian, or If, Because Of, As A Result Of, . . . (already) becoming a Christian?

I'm not sure what is being posed.

Thank you for clarifying. I don't want to follow the wrong chain of thought.

Be blessed, Stay blessed!

It seems to me a Christian needs to do two things:

Love the Lord his God with all his heart, mind and soul.

Love his neighbor as himself.

I agree but would add that as simple as that sounds, it is a lot more difficult for us to accomplish than we think. I'm reminded of the story about the rich man that answered Jesus that he followed God's commandments, cared for others, etc. but when Jesus told him he still had one more thing to do, he wasn't a happy camper. We often think we are following the two great commandments but we must be careful not to boast too much as God can always point out failures we deny or overlook.

That is very true Elijah. And the scriptures are full of further explanations as to what that looks like in a believers life. I think Samuel did a great job of revealing what the scriptures say about what it means to follow these two commands.
