Revelation 11:18 And the nations were angry, and Thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead that they should be judged, and that Thou shouldest give reward unto Thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear Thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth."

"Destroy them which destroy the earth." That sounds like a great slogan for some of today's activists...if they were Bible readers. :o :lol But, what does it truly mean? What is "the earth?"

  • Genesis 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life: and man became a living soul.

We are the dust of the ground, we are earth. Those that "destroy earth"...destroy man spiritually....will themselves be destroyed.

At the end of this age, after the tribulation of Satan when it is time for "Thy wrath" to come notice that it is "the dead" that "should be judged." Dead bodies judged? :confused No. All have changed into spiritual bodies but those bodies are the spiritually living or the spirtually dead. It is the dead that shall be judged. Those that are spiritually alive, the "servants, the prophets, and the saints and them that fear thy name" are rewarded.

The spiritually dead (the earth) are not themselves destroyed but those that caused their spiritual deaths....are! Who are they?

  • Revelation 11:13 And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven.

Who are the seven thousand? Those already condemned, those released from the bottomless pit, those pretending to be Christian.

  • Jude 6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, He hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.

[list:2v9zhuwv]Satan is darkness. They are under his control...not yet killed as they have another job to do.

Matthew 24:3-5 And as He sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto Him privately, saying, "Tell us, when shall these things be and what shall be the sign of Thy coming, and of the end of the world?" And Jesus answered and said unto them, "Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in My name, saying, 'I am Christ;' and shall deceive many.

24:11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
[/list:u:2v9zhuwv]

They shall rise...rise from the pit.....and they shall deceive many by claiming, "I am Christ" or...I am Christian!

No and no. There is zero reference to these false prophets rising from the pit and to claim "I am Christ" is absolutely not equivalent to saying "I am Christian". To say "I am Christ" is to make the claim to be the Jewish Messiah.

Good morning Free, :-)

:confused I wonder...how many Christians will be deceived by "MANY" men walking around saying...I am Christ! :lol Do you think we'll believe THEM?

The verse tells us that the many "come in My name." That to me means...they come using His name, pretending to be of His name. Not that they ARE Christ but that they ARE Christian.

"For many shall come in My name, saying, 'I am Christ;' and shall deceive many."

It is clear that "come in My name" refers to "saying, 'I am Christ'." This is speaking of false Messiahs.

Okay. :-) We have differing viewpoints.

Yes, we do. I just don't understand why you want to change the meanings of words and take things out of context to make such a post.

Since you seem to WANT to push a point...let's push it. I believe your literal interpretation is wrong. It, to me, makes no sense at all. However, if you want to see it that way then be my guest. I don't.

Why doesn't it make sense? Have you not studied history and know that there were many, and still are many, that claim to be the Messiah?

Look further down in verses 23 and 24 of the same passage:

"23 Then if anyone says to you, Look, here is the Christ! or There he is! do not believe it. 24 For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect."

How can my point not make sense?

Jesus says, "For many shall come in My name, saying, 'I am Christ;". To say "I am Christ" literally means "I am the Messiah". But if we change the definition of what "Christ" means, then we may as well arbitrarily assign meanings to all words and the Bible--and all discourse about anything--becomes utterly meaningless.

2And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.

3And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.

4And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads.

5And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man.

When the antichrist/satan returns defacto on the earth he will be accompied by the fallen angels.....
Now if the antichrist/satan is claiming to be Jesus Christ returned,,,,,who do you think the fallen angels are going to be????? The 1927 Yankess??????

My point was in reference to Matt 24.

Free...He is speaking to us, those living in the end of days. Would MANY false Christs trick you?

Will there be A false Christ? Yes there will and he will be a doozy. But he is one...not many.

editing in....The many mentioned are Satan's many men. They are those that deceive...the many false christs and false prophets.

If you want to continue to ignore history, language and context, that is up to you. Your argument has no leg to stand on.
