For the radio, its heard to beat J.Vernon MaGee
For TV, thats a little tough since I don't watch much. I guess it would have to be

Radio, (not in any particular order)

Ravi Zacharias and Stuart McAllister http://www.rzim.org/

Alistair Begg http://www.truthforlife.org/

R.C. Sproul http://www.ligonier.org/

J. Vernon MacGee http://www.thruthebible.org/

John Piper http://www.desiringgod.org/

John MacArthur http://www.gty.org/

John Morris http://www.icr.org/

and...not a person, but persons I guess...a local church near us, Twin Oaks Presbyterian Church. I used to enjoy listening to Rodney Storch, but he has passed away. The new Senior pastor is Ron Steel. http://www.twinoakschurch.org/index.php

Television,

Charles Stanley maybe. http://ww2.intouch.org/

I sometimes listen to channel 170 on XM early in the morning when I'm not listening to my dramatized NIV or just taking a break and listening to some 70's, 80's 90's.
The lineup is
6 am Adrian Rogers. He's ok, a little too rapturistic for me so I don't listen to him very often.
Next is
6:30 am, Woodrow Kroll http://backtothebible.org. I like this guy and even receive his monthly news letter. He's pretty basic and takes a common sense approach in a practical manner.
7 am Dr. Youssef http://leadingtheway.org. He's got some good stuff once in awhile. Thank goodness I'm usually to work by 7ish.
7:30 am Alister Baggs. (sp) I don't get to listen to this guy often. Usually only when I don't have to come into work until later. He's probably my favorite out of the bunch.

I don't care much for John McArthur because I guess he is reformed Christian, which is somewhat Calvanistic in their teachings and because he slams Charismatics.

May God bless, golfjack

He's not really in my top ten either, jack. I do agree with a lot of his teaching (probably because I have a strong reformed leaning). He is my least favorite on my list, though (due to taste, perhaps), and I have many others that are not on the radio that I like better still. I do not recall him slaming Charismatics, but I suppose he would disagree with most of their teaching.

I am very wary of a good portion of these people on radio and TV. IMHO, they could take people like Hinn, Copeland, Price, Meyer, Hickey, Paul Crouch and his awful wife with the pink hair, Pat Robertson, ALL these people off the air today and I wouldn't shed a tear. They are gross with their horrendous teachings, and have led many astray. Always going after signs and wonders and a million bucks. Feh!

You really don't want to open up that bag of worms.
Those people that Steve just mentioned have simply left to much amo against them. They clearly preach another Gospel. They preach out of the prosperity gospel translation that they have made up. There is a reason why those people don't preach verse by verse. If they did they would have to give back their RollsRoyces, 10 million dollar mantions, and so forth.
Those name it and claim it preachers are an abomination to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

To be honest Golf, I don't like any of their teachings. The same with Benny Hinn

Is the option to simply not "like any of their teachings" left open? For example, Benny Hinn is in touch with God like few human beings in all history, or he's a fraud and a liar. Wikipedia provides some examples of his false prophesies. His own website makes clear that he's a zionist (which is antichristian in both theory and practice).

Right-wing Christian churches, especially the charismatic churches, across America are led by the same kind of zioniost con-artists as you see on TV.

We don't have Catholic radio here, and I tend to find radio/TV preachers to be pretty well characterized by the zionist description above.

There's a couple of radio shows on a local protestant Christian station (KHCB) that I like. One is called Haven Today and the other is Night Sounds.

Haven Today has some great guests and intriguing topics. For instance, one night it was a talk with a Messianic Jew about their faith and comparisons with Christianity, etc. They also tackle general family/moral/societal dilemmas. http://www.havenministries.com/

Night Sounds is a simple inspirational/devotional show with soothing Christian classic (mostly) music. It's worth a listen. I've listened to it for about 14 years off and on. If you have a tough time getting to sleep, listen to Night Sounds. You can buy/download from their website if your local radio station doesn't carry it. The host, Bill Pearce, is getting up in years. I hope the show can go on as long as possible. http://www.nightsoundsradio.org/

I keep praying for a conservative Catholic radio station to show up in Houston -- the nation's 4th largest city and 8th largest Archdiocese... but so far, no station at all. It's a bummer. The evangelical stations are okay for the music (most of it), but they preach explicitly Evangelical/Fundamentalist beliefs and exclude Catholic, Orthodox, Lutheran, Episcopal, etc. However, many Catholics & other liturgical/traditional Christians are in their listenership, due to lack of other programming in town.

As far as TV evangelists, I think they should all go jump in a lake. Money-grubbing liars. I can stand the great Billy Graham up to a point (as he is very charitable to all Christians), but most of them are charlatans.

God bless,

Michael

Lovely and Jeff, an excellent list. Jeff, do they still air Rogers, even though he died? :sad

Hey, add Stanley to the list, he's not bad at all.

As for some of the others; like I said in another thread, they often miss the mark; big time!

But lets save the debates for another thread, ok? Thanks.

Agreed. Thats why I have kept silent for the most part. By the way Adrian Rodgers is heard daily here in souther cali and he is alive as ever.
Last week I heard a sermon from him talking about death. It was powerful to say the least and even more so, knowing he is with the Lord.

If someone wants to start a thread on heretical teachers, but all mean do so.

Good list, and I must add T.D. Jakes and Tony Evans. All of these people are great teachers and preachers of the Gospel. And Jessie makes it fun to learn, Joyce has a lot of wisdom, and so does T.D. Jakes, and Tony Evans, and Fredrick is a great teacher, and so is Copeland, but all of them are great teachers.

You got that right Lewis. What about Pastor Hagee from Texas? I was at a Church where Jesse Duplantis was preaching and when it comes to altar call, He is all business. Also, we shouldn't forget about Oral Roberts, probably the most recognized Apostles in the world.

May God bless, golfjack

I watched him for about 30 minutes a week or two ago. It was disturbing, to say the least. Actually, I'm not sure what's more disturbing, the bigoted hateful sermon or the deluded congregation. I was embarassed to be from Texas for a little bit. Of course Joel Osteen is from here, too, but his sermons are, at least, uplifting and within the realm of biblical theology. This Hagee guy was doing a whole sermon on how if you follow God, you will achieve wealth. Is that the message of God??
