Who Will Lay Down Their Life For Another ?

Lewis

Who on this board would lay down their life for another ? I know that I would for my wife kids parents and other relatives even a few friends, but I have not got to the place in my spiritual walk where I could do it for everybody. So should I or you feel bad if you have not got to this point. I know that this is a hard question to ask.

John 15:13 (King James Version
13Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

I dont know if people will belive this but I actually would lay my life for anyone. I cant stand death, its something I like to see prevented at all cost. If I had to take bullet or get in the way I would, I already have, not in the death sence but Ive put myself in the way of punches and accidents. I just dont like to see people hurt, of cource I will do my best to keep myself out of injury aswell. I just have faith that if I do die, I have a place waiting for me, I want to live as long as I can because I want to do so much but that is my reaction to people in danger.

Saying this I am no better than you, nor anyone. Like I have said we are all equals. I could just have a screw loose. I don't know.

I would take sever beating, injury, or disfigurement, But, at this point, there is no one I love enough to die for. My brothers, I would do everythign I possibly could to stop them from dieing. My mother would hate me if i took a bullet for her.

If it was something like, If i stayed behind, to save the lives of 5 other people, than sure.. But a 1 on 1 thing... ehhhhhhhhhh

I don't think we can respond too well since none of us are normally in life-threatening situations that involve others. And, what we may say now might be the opposite to what we would ACTUALLY do if faced with such a situation. At this point, however, I would say that you're not alone with the views expressed in your original post, Lewis. I think very few of us would even consider laying down our lives for anyone but a chosen few who mean a lot to us.

It is hard for someone to be totally honest in this aspect. I would have to say I will follow Christ wherever he leads. And if I perish, I perish.

Yes for some it would be hard to be honest, but I did not have a problem being honest about it. Many Christians are not going to tell you that they wouldn't do it. Because they don't want you to think that they are less than. And also many Christians have not given this topic much thought. But Jesus said laying down your life for a friend is a good thing. And He did lay His life down for us. But for wife mom & pop kids grand daughter brothers sisters and other relatives and some friends I would do it. I would be scared beyond compare, but I would do it. And then you never know, the Lord might give you a spiritual calm, if that ever came up. Many Holy Ghost filled people have faced death with a calmness, that only God can give. But not everybody is blessed that way.

Does the word mean to literally "die" for another, or could it mean to lose your life in the sense of this verse??... "Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it"

It means to literally die.
And Jesus said.
John 15:13 (King James Version
13Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
