Why are christians so closed minded to metal music?

elijah, I also love the hymns. In fact, I used to lead a hymn service in a nursing home for the local chaplaincy. They did not drag. My 84 year old piano player would ask if she was going too fast and I would say, "Go for it"!

The fact is that I like a lot of different kinds of music. Much of the metal is based on classical like Rachmaninoff and even Lecuano. It is fun to pick out the parts that they hijacked. Of course, the classical artists did that frequently, too. I like Puccini, folk, folk dances, and even Cajun without offensive lyrics. So I guess music is one of my hobbies.

Phil Keaggy is/was a great clasical and rock guitarist. Nights of Madrid is one of my favorites as well as Revelation. St. John the Revelator was a short one that had a lot of jams.

And thank you farouk, but I am in for a knee replacement very soon so moshing is not on the horizon. I must start acting my age.:bigfrown

Carolyn:

YW...

btw, what do you think of REZ BAND's 'Love Comes Down'? I guess you know it.

Sorry to hear of your knee op. Be a little old grandmother if you will, but maybe I'll still picture you as a heavy metal-loving little old grandmother, anyway... (if not as a pierced and tattooed heavy metal-lover...)

Hope the op. goes well. Blessings.

Loved it! In fact, they played it at the concert I saw. I collected Rez for years.
I always wanted to go to their Cornerstone rock fest in Illinois. But I was able to see one in So. California that was pretty good. Saw the 77s, Rachel Rachel, Savior Machine. Other favorite concerts: Larry Norman, Bloodgood x2, Idle Cure, Audio Adrenalin x2, Newsboys, Galactic Cowboys, Whitecross, Phil Keaggy, Petra. One of my all time favorite bands was King's X. Wish I could have seen them.
I used to bum a ride to concerts with our sons sometimes, which was really embarrassing to them. WHO goes to a rock concert with his MOM!? I bribed them by paying for the gas. Most of the other times my husband took me but waited outside since he likes really mellow stuff. I am so blest to have him! I did go to one rock fest with our high school church youth group since I was helping with them, but they mostly had pop. Whiteheart is the only one that I remember.
After our sons were married I went back to work and didn't have the time. We also lost our music source so I didn't have a clue as to what was being offered anymore.
