Do you think He really needed out companionship?Look at everyone who has rejected Him.I would think that makes Him very, very sad.

When reading the thread title my first spontaneous thought of an answer was "For His entertainment". :lol Humans never get boring, do we?

Maybe it's just part of His personality and His nature to create things that become alive and respond to Him? He didn't need a reason, it's just what is "inside" of Him. It's His way of "self-fulfilment" (or at least that's what we'd call it when speaking about a human being).
Not sure the Bible gives an answer to that question though.

I know that God must have a fabulous sense of humor if He created me :lol

For His pleasure? So we could have the pleasure of knowing Him? I don't think He needed us or was lonely.

I once read a book where a guy said it was some kind of legal issue - that God couldn't throw Satan out of Heaven without a trial. I don't remember exactly how it was supposed to work but I think we're supposed to be some kind of witnesses in the trial or something like that. Basically, we're here to prove that God is right and Satan is wrong.

ok ramban. that is the concept of "let US" created man in our image. the us being god, the angels and the earth" god never did things without a consensus. i don't think God needs a jury to damn satan.

Legal issue?That sounds very worldly

Not necessarily. God gave us laws about witnesses and judges. If there were similar laws in Heaven before the earth was created, then God wouldn't break His own laws.

For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. Romans 8:29 NIV

God loves His Son Jesus so much that He wants everyone He has created to be like His Son.

The scripture says it like this, "Then God said, "Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us." Genesis 1:26 NLT
As you have read God tells Jesus and the Holy Spirit why he is making us. And we know His word shall not return unto Him void. Isaiah 55:11 KJV

He wants everyone to someday be with His Son and inherit His Kingdom.

“Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:6 NIV)

Philippians 1:6 says, “Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus” (NIV). What God starts, he finishes. Where God guides, he provides. And where God leads, he meets our needs. But he’s going to test you first, because there is no testimony without a test.

As He is so are we. We have been already seated in heavenly places.

I was raised liberal Presbyterian. My parents kept a copy of The Westminster Confession. In part of it, the shorter catechism, the question is asked "Why did God create man?" The answer (to paraphrase, from memory) was that He created us to know Him, to love Him, to obey Him, to cherish Him, now and for eternity.

It goes deeper than that Christ. He wants us totally "to be conformed to the image of his Son''

Our purpose is to worship Him. And the more we learn about Him, the deeper is our worship.

Rev_4:11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

You are so right. Even the Scripture says "the LAW of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus has set us free from the LAW of sin and death.".
the enemy has deceived the whole world through babylon and the mother harlot as described in Revelation,
so the whole world denies the Father and the Son, outright rejects the Truth, in 'favor' of 'doing what is right in their own eyes'.

since the world system and the world religion was set up long ago to accomplish the great deception for these last days, it is expected that the LAW of YHWH will be rejected by most of the world's population. (billions of people damned, because they refuse to come to the truth).

the penalty for sin is death. that is an immutable law. it never changed. someone has to die to pay the price for sin. ... .... someone did.
