Came across this video.
What do you think?

Pretty interesting.

I think the idea that God put the tree in the Garden to show that man cannot have everything he wants, even while making sure that he has everything he needs is fairly sound.

Why did God put the tree of Knowledge in the garden?
I am having no luck finding the tree of knowledge in Genesis. I found one labeled "the tree of the knowledge of good and evil" but not one labeled simply as knowledge.

Anyway; you could ask the very same question about scorpions, poison ivy, rattlesnakes, cobras, hemlock, lead, jelly fish, electricity, toadstools, piranhas, sharks, salmonella, et al. Point being, though those things be hazardous, they all have legitimate places and legitimate functions in the scheme of things. In the web of life; that particular species of tree was an essential element in the garden's ecosystem. Take away that tree; and the garden's ecosystem would have been out of balance. Quite possibly forms of life other than human, and found nowhere else in the whole world, were dependant upon that very species of tree for their survival.

For example: the Marbled Murrelet spends it's entire life at sea except during the breeding season when it comes ashore to nest in old growth conifer forest; sometimes many miles from the nearest ocean. The point is: Marbled Murrelets nest only in old growth conifer forest; which has made it, and the Spotted Owl, very unpopular with Northwest logging companies.

How about the Tree of Good and Evil wasn't planted by Yahweh? What if it was planted by satan? Why else would he tell Adam not to eat of it?

All life starts out as a seed. Yeshua frequently draws parallels between nature and agriculture to make spiritual points.

This point is best illustrated in the parable of the tares and the wheat in Matthew 13. There are 2 seeds planted and both seeds grow. But there is only one good seed, and that is Yeshua. The tare was planted by satan, and is allowed to grow, but will eventually be plucked away and destroyed.

Have you noticed that from Genesis on, the Tree of good and evil is never spoken again and is not spoken of in Revelation? Only the Tree of Life is.

Why did Adam and Eve eat from it?

Same reason why Sir Edmund Hillary climbed Mt Everest... Because it was there

Sooner later it would have happened
