Why do some Christians support same sex marriages?

Just curious of why some Christians support same sex marriages when God wanted it to be between a man and woman? I don't understand...

Unfortunately, this is an answer I don't have, though I do have an opinion. I think it's because they either don't know what Scripture says about marriage, or because (I think in most cases) they are too afraid of offending someone to speak about what they actually believe. I don't mean to turn this into a bashing session, but some of the things Joel Olsteen says fall into the second category. Short version - On a tv program, a lady called in and asked him if Jesus was really the only way to Heaven (her tone of voice made it clear that she didn't think so). His answer was, "I can't judge that person's heart. That's for the Lord to decide." While he's right, and he can't judge a person's heart, that wasn't what was asked, and he answered as a coward would, avoiding the fact that in John 14:6, Jesus Himself said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (ESV)

Instead of giving an honest answer, he gave a cowardly one because the lady may have been offended.

Apologies for veering off topic a little, but I think that illustrates my opinion. I think a large part is that we're so afraid to offend other people (which may be because we don't want to steer them from Christ, which is an admirable, but misguided, outlook) that we don't speak the truth. To which I would say, whoever said that when you became a christian, you had to also become a doormat for the world?

For what it's worth, that's my two cents.

Discussion of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) will only be allowed in Christian Talk & Advice, Prayer Requests & Praises and the Bible Study forum. We understand the need to discuss LGBT issues, and to provide support for those struggling with such issues. This restriction is in place because experience has taught us that most people cannot debate this in a Godly manner, or without promoting sin. We do welcome posts for support or prayer, or sincere Biblical discussions.
