Why does Satan want our souls?

Decor? Power?

Does the soul posses something that could aid a spiritual being?

Misery loves company. And he hates God and wants to take away something that makes the Lord happy.

He only thinks he can have them. He will be left with nothing in the end anyway. :-D

Cos' he believes he's more powerful than God and wants to prove it.

The answers given basically cover different elements of it. I would add that satan loves seeing creatures in intense suffering and misery, especially from God's creation. It's is the direct opposite of God's joy and goodness toward people.

Satan knows his days are numbered, but he's going to push the envelope as much as he can to discredit, demoralize, and create as much misery as he can before God's eyes on the creation.

This is one of the more confusing points about Satan. He seems like a moron.

He will lose in the end (Revelations makes that clear, I think). No souls, no hell. He will lose and be destroyed.

So he goes after souls he knows for a fact he will not ever get.

He fights a war against Jesus that he knows for a fact he will lose (and I believe the exact time frame and details of his loss).

Yet this being that is upheld as the smartest and most deceitful being affecting every singles person's life all the time?

ok. I don't think he wants our souls. They don't benefit him one bit. He honestly hates us. The only reason he strives so hard to keep us from heaven is because of pride, hatred, and a delight in misery. God loves us and wants us. Satan hates God. and he hates us, because God loves us. He wants to hurt God, so he hurts us, and makes us hurt God. He couldn't care less what we do, or how we do it, as long as it hurts God. we have no value to satan. he just likes to mess with God and uses us to do it.

I don't recall reading a Bible passage that said Satan wanted our souls. If anything, the impression I get is that he wants us to fall into sin, which will separate us from God. The more fallen people there are, the more people he gets to "accuse" before God.

Good point...

The bible states this:

Ezekiel 18:4 Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.

It is God who casts souls into hell.

Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

I agree. Satan surely would love to turn everyone against God, but ultimately he really has no use for souls.
