Why so concerned about guessing when?

Just a thought, when I was looking through most of the posts in this section, they focus on either predicting when Christ is coming or trying to work it out from when other events occur. I was just wondering why people are so concerned about this.

Jesus said we aren't meant to know, not even the angels will know etc. so why try and guess?

Isn't it enough to know its coming and that you need to be ready whenever? I try (not always very successfully but do try) to live life thinking that it could all kick off tomorrow, this pushes me to talk to friends about it and train up my youth group to go out and spread the word etc. to try and spare people from the horror of the end without Christ.

If you did know exactly when it was all going to happen, what would you do about it?

Good point Dancing Queen. We only need to know that one day he is returning and should be constantly ready.

I think the mechanism that engages people in too much talk and speculation is the same one that enables them to gossip. But then again, I guess I rather they talk about the Lord's return than a fellow parishioner.

Well actually, most of us here are not trying to predict when and if (the day, date and time) it will occur. We are only tring to piece together the order of events and whether or not any or all of it has come to pass.

My belief is this; one, I have learned a lot because it has led me to study some scripture I would have never given a second glance. Two, if we weren't to know something about the Last Days and End Times events, it wouldn't be mentioned in Scripture... and a (selfish-LOL) three...

Rev 1:3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.

Im just ready for all of this to be over with. Im seriously tired of debating about the anti-christ, when Jesus will be coming back and etc becauase after all of this is done its nothing but 1000 years of smooth sailing.
