Will You?

Colossians 3:1 If then you were raised together with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated on the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on the things that are above, not on the things that are on the earth. 3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, our life, is revealed, then you will also be revealed with him in glory.

Romans 12:1 Therefore I urge you, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service. 2 Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God.

There is a contagious attitude today this not just the plague of the Church, it has infected all of mankind. It's known to me as the I Cain't Virus and it is most commonly found in young men under the age of fifty. The I Cain't Virus is exactly what is wrong with the two scripture references I began with. When I was almost two years in the Faith I had it and when God called me, a two year old Christian to teach, I did not ask Him, "What class, Sir?†I just told Him I cain't and began to rebel against Him until Brother Richard Clark and I sat down and he told me that the class our Father was calling me to teach was the Primary Class, 1st and 2nd grade.

From that moment on I would like to tell you that I did not fight with God over anything else... ever again, but if I do I'll have to repent and come clean latter so, up front, that was the first of many lessons on trusting my LORD that I have endured. You see, I've also come down with this disease from time to time. It is however growing to be a much worse condition with time. The above verses deal with our responsibility and our duty to our LORD, we are to live Holy Lives, dedicated to Him.

I have been told time after time that most Christians cannot live as Holy a life as I do and to that statement all I'm left to reply is "Poo!†All any man or woman need do to live a Holy Life, given to God, is to change a few things in their lives and that is something anybody can do. I can tell you right now that a beer or a shot of Wild Turkey a day will not send you to Hell. I'll go so far as to tell you that I love a shot or two of Turkey 101 and then I'll tell you "but†I haven had a shot since January 1, 1990! If I were to be found in a club with a shot of Turkey in my hand, it would be the end of my life of value to my LORD.

When I was married I changed a large number of points in my life because I wanted to be pleasing to my wife. When I joined the Army and became a Junior Crew Chief on the UH1 Helicopters I had a goal... Senior Crew Chief as a Professional Soldier. My entire life took a new direction and it required that I, literally, change every aspect of my life. At nineteen years of age I suddenly was responsible for a three hundred and fifty thousand dollar helicopter. The lives of every pilot, gunner and Grunt that stepped onto that ship placed their lives into my hands.

It's not much different out here though! When I went to work as a Switchboard Installer for Western Electric, the Union Railroad, several major insurance companies and Houston Belt and Terminal R.R. Depended on me making good decisions that would allow them to run their business without endless trouble and in like manor, God wants to use us to do His work... to live the life the rest of the world will look at and seek to model their's after. Believe me, they are watching you if you have ever said anything about God in their presence.

God has work for you so... Will you?

i'm busy tring not to use more and keep my mind as clean as possible.
and perfect as possible.

just wanted to say i am busy working.

tell me how must i work and what more work needs to be done, that i am not doing allready by thinking lots.(i see back, as treu believer)

the work would be to form a world where everything can be done according to the consience. that would still be quite a job, not? would mean prevent sin as much as possible or anything you (can) consider sinfull, right?

i be backing up jesus then for task one..
i be myself first to straighten things right, task two.(might be a struglle)
i try to be living a good life and act according to the will of a good conscience, task 3
and realex i sometimes talk to much about one thing..4
i gues to just keep believing in and otherwise working toward a better world is allways good,5

what do you think then what work needs to be done more.
yeah to me 2 be happy and feel good more often then not.

xounstaer;544101 tell me how must i work and what more work needs to be done said:
(I am not God and it is not mine to assign you a task. That is only for the Holy Spirit to do. In fact, if the Spirit has not led you to work, you work in vain.

If you cite these two verses...you usually get blank stares of incredulity...

"I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me."

and...

"With God nothing shall be impossible."

Nowadays mention overcoming sin and people will say you are preaching salvation through works! :sad

Aye, but im going to put this out here because it deals with the subject being discussed.

You spoke specifically about drinking a couple shots and said you refuse because you feel it would indanger your faith value towards Jesus.

Its not the same for everyone, somepeople eat veges and dont eat meat ext.

Some of us will have a few drinks and it doesnt do anything to affect our faith, its not a change of the heart because we have some drinks once in awhile. Jesus didnt say dont drink, He said dont be a drunk.
Big difference between a drunk and someone who has drinks once in awhile, i see nothing wrong with those who are also like this, and i see nothing wrong with people who hold your view towards such things also.
Where it goes wrong is when one of the either looks at the other and says, "im holier than thou for i do not drink and you drink" or the other says, "im holier than thou for i can drink controllably and not know reprecussion"
When we start doing that to each other whatever view you have doesnt even matter, your already in the wrong, before both of them.

It's not what goes in the body that defiles, its what comes out of the body, and that sprouts from the heart, if the heart is light so shall the body be, same for darkness.

I smoke, I'll drink once in awhile and i am not perfect, i sin and i hate it and i will continue to look to the Lord to put such things away in Him, but i can tell you %100 i sinned today.
Now the first 2 things i mentioned, if it offends someone and i know about it when im around them, i wont do it, not just for my sake (because i dont want to be a stumbling block before them) I wont do it around them if im aware.
But i refuse to judge anyone who does or doesnt do either of those things, because the fruit is from the heart, not what goes into the body.

Grace to you, peace from God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Yes, and ask them to look around themselves and they will see that we are in the midst of the Great Falling Away and they seem to want to know what you have been smoking. But, regardless, my reply is, "Even so LORD, come quickly!"

And I condemned none nor shall I, so this pointed accusation is because of?

Oh, nono, not an accusation, i used your example of speaking of drinking because your the Op and it was a good example to start with that you spoke of, im not accusing you of anything, just used what you spoke of as an intro to what i submitted, if you read it again i actually dont accuse you of anything at all, i speak to the greater audiance throughout the entire submission, that all can evaluate for themselves the words of truth.

Sorry Th1b, it wasnt meant as a personal jab.
You were just an example of one who doesnt want to get involved in drinks at any level, which i said i see no wrong according to Him, and i showed an example following of someone who does have drinks and replied the exact same, then showed why and further spoke of what is wrong.

Grace to you, peace from God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
