Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit OEM 3pk

Yes, another Win 7 thread. :)

My wife recently purchased an iMac for her company (which, btw, will be incorporated on Dec 1st) and we bought Win 7 Ult 64-bit OEM for using in Parallels (so she can run AutoBAD ;) ). My question is this: the product description states that this OEM disc is a 3 pack. Does that mean we can install it on 3 computers with the same key? The MS part number is GLC-00894. I've done a bit of searching but found no real definite answer.

The reason is that this computer is running 64-bit Vista and I would rather have 7 on it. Not that I am all that anxious since the hard drive went a couple months ago (I was lucky enough to recover the data) and had to reinstall everything. But, better sooner rather than later.

Windows 7 Ultimate = *drools*

I'm probably very wrong here...but wouldn't the 3 disc pack mean that the installation comes in 3 discs? As in, 3 parts? Just throwing it out there...but I'm probably wrong.

Yes, I remember your hard drive troubles. :P

Well, I hate to be the one to tell you, but you are wrong Nick. :) It's one disc. I haven't had a chance to use 7 but my boss upgraded his laptop from Vista and loves it. I really want to see what it can do on this machine. Maybe get a new game to put it through it's paces.

Although, I would rather play on my wife's 27" iMac. Man that thing has a beautiful screen (and it's slightly bigger than our 26" LCD TV lol).

Macs can't play games! :biglol

Well if I am wrong then you must be right, as I can't see any other options. :)

Really? Oh well, she probably wouldn't let me install games anyway. It's just a beautiful piece of hardware.

It just seems weird to have one key for 3 installations.

I just wanted to bump this to see if any resident tech person can provide an answer. I would love to get Win 7 installed on this machine, especially since I installed some updates (including a service pack) in the last couple of days, and every time the computer sleeps and comes back on, the keyboard doesn't work (there is power to it though). I have to unplug it for 5 seconds and plug it back in to get it going. :screwloose

I may have finally found my answer. It is likely that the 3 pack really was 3 individually packed DVDs, for the reseller. They then take the 3 pack and separate them into the individuals for resale. Like buying bulk.

It's amazing how hard it can be to get an answer for something which should be so simple.

That seems to be the way of computing! :lol

Anyway, I'm glad you eventaully found the answer.

When Vista first came out it had version pack #1. Now days it is upgraded to version pack #2. If your computer is advanced enough you can run version pack #3. It has to be a "TRUE" 64 bit or higher.
