Windows XP diehards

Is using another program acceptable? I've never relied on Window's virus protection; have always used third party virus protection.

I also always use 3rd party virus software' always even when I was using Windows 98 and now even with Windows 8. And a 3rd party Firewall.

Me two, never relied on Windows protection. They make too many screwups that they are constantly having to fix. I would never trust them. :-D

The computer guru that lives down the street was telling me that my XP will keep right on working the same as it is now. The only difference is that there will be no more updates to fix problems and such in XP so it will just continue to function as it does now. (As long as I keep my virus, spyware, malware, etc programs updated.)

Sticking with XP and Sandboxie.. :) and Linux of course.. :)

OH NO! It's Tuesday. I booted up on my XP drive and it made a funny hissing noise, a bunch of white smoke came out, and it disappeared like those old Misson Impossible tapes used to do! :sad

You need to download and install nosmoke.exe. That should fix your problem. For best results, put it in your startup folder.

So what about my Windows 3.1 ?

Never be afraid of viruses. They will give you heartattack. RECYCLER! Is now my friend. Make them your friends and you will have nothing to worry about. Once done, they'd back off...or remain in the background thinking what next to do...and having none to do. Only know that the same people that provide your *anties* are the same people that establish viruses- most of them. Hallo, chum virus

So what about my Windows 3.1 ?

If you're still using Win 3.1 and don't have nosmoke.exe installed, I suggest you install it right away. It should have come pre-installed on all Dos and Windows versions from the start.

On another note... don't you have problems getting drivers for new hardware for Win 3.1?

Microsoft has extended their support on XP for another year. Cost the U.S. government 5 millions dollars!
