Hi, I'm new to these forums and joined because the .com version seemed like it had way too many categories to choose from and way too many users. Also, it would take me a while to move from page to page because it seemed like it was too bogged down. I like the idea of a smaller community, so I hope this will be a good place to hang out and share thoughts from time to time.
Anyhow, I wish to share a resource that really helped my wife and I out this past week. Last Saturday, we attended a Focus On Parenting simulcast hosted by a local church, and like the Focus On Marriage one we attended last February we were blown away by the quality of the speakers and their very practical, effective ideas.
So although these Focus On The Family sponsored simulcasts are a great resource in themselves, the book most of us were excited about was Kevin Leman's "Have A New Kid By Friday". My wife and I cheated and didn't wait until Friday to begin implementing his simple strategies, so our "new" kid actually arrived a few days before that! In other words, the title of this book isn't far-fetched, and over half of it is a reference to over 100 of the hottest problems parents have with their kids and wonderfully effective and practical solutions, organized by category.
The change in our home this past week has been amazing, so I just thought I'd share this with you parents who might be pulling your hair out too often with your child(ren) of any age. And no, we're not affiliated with Focus On The Family or Dr. Leman; we've just benefited greatly from FOTF's ministry over the years and now with Leman's book, and hope you can too.
