Working full time while in college?

Do you work full time?

I applied for 3 jobs last night. One in the ED, one in cardiology and one in Med/Surg. They are all full time...three 12/hr shifts. I pick the 3 days each week to work, so they're flexible. They are also nights. I am NOT a morning person and want to work nights. I will be working on my hubby's days off (he actually has 4 days off a week, so that still leaves a day for the 2 of us.

I'm just wondering if I'll be able to handle working and going to school. It's been 8 years since I last worked full time and I'm PETRIFIED! But excited at the same time.

I can't remember, but are you in a program...nursing etc.

I would say that a normal schedule of classes would be feasible, but I'm also single. I don't have to worry about a family. Did you account for study time as well?

I work about 24 hours a week and sometimes it is almost too much, and I don't have a family to take care of. 2 12 hour shifts.

I'm working at my campus police station this summer. I'm also a webmaster of 4+ sites. Needless to say, I keep busy.

No, I'm not in the program. I'm so mad at my school that I'd like to puke on all the people there. :evil:

I NEED A&P, but I didn't get it. They said it's reserved for those that have already gotten accepted into the program. I'm not going to sit around and wait another year to get my stupid A&P class for the RN program, so I'm switching my major to LPN. I can always bridge over to RN. I only need A&P and math and I'll have all my pre-reqs and related courses out of the way. I've gotten my CPR healthcare provider level certification, CNA class, Psy, Eng & Cis out of the way. I got my schedule the other day and only got ONE class that I registered for. ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!! And you know what makes me mad? I've got a 3.5 GPA. A lot better than the 2.0 they require you to keep up.

I'm not the only one complaining about the school. A LOT of people are.

As for working, since I won't be taking on the 3 classes that I THOUGHT I would, I might as well get me a job.

i've only worked part time while i take classes. i think it's better that way because classes are really the important thing. i just got hired yesterday for a new job! woohoo! part time work is much nicer. :D

There's no way I'd be able to pull a full time job and do school.. the school year seems to get busy enough on it's own! I really don't like having a job period while I'm in school, but since my summer jobs have all not been working out (and my crazy cat's veterinary bills) I think I'm going to have to this upcoming year.

Anyone who can pull a full time job and still do school has got to be majorly organized and flexible! I would be totally impressed.

Why can't I get my life straight?!!! :x

I am switching to the LPN program. I am taking my math class, so that means I can't take on the jobs I applied for if I get called for an interview. The class is 6-8:30 at night.

I got a new advisor that actually is a help to me! She called me today and said that I can apply for the actual LPN program in January. If I get accepted, I will for sure get the anatomy class in the spring and I can start the LPN program in the fall.

Now I just have to wait and see if it all falls into place as easily as she makes it sound.

Since I'm only taking math, I'd like to find a job with 9am-2pm hours. There's no reason why i can't work while the kids are in school.

Do you know much about homecare? Do you think they could get me something Monday-Friday 9am-2:00pm? My kids school hours are 8:10-2:40. I guess I need to call around.

Sorry, the only thing about homecare I know about is live in people I know. They live in the house with the person and work for room board and a wage. I do know that here in Kansas you have to have a home health aide license, not just your CNA to do it.
