I don't know about you but me? I'm like a sheep at times. I go astray, find myself going down a road that I don't want to and find it difficult to do a uturn. Thanks to Jesus he comes and finds this dumb sheep and brings me home. As he carries me back on his shoulders I find myself worshipping, singing songs of praise.

Songs that float my boat. Thought it would be good to share what helps me. We all have songs that help us, that draw us near to God. Some of us may sing songs of Glory, some of us sing songs of grace, some of us sing a mixture of songs of praise and glory and acceptance.

Just want to share with you what helps me. What really brings my focus back.

Psalm 145 - Dustin Kensrue
You saved my soul - Bryan & Katie Torwalt
Our God Saves (Radio Mix) - Paul Baloche
Another Hallelujah - Lincoln Brewster.
Rememberance (Communion song ) Matt Maher
10,000 reasons - Matt Redman.

God bless you all, I would be interested to know what floats your boat

I know what you mean. I feel like I've been wandering off more these past couple of years than I ever have before, honestly.

This song is probably one of the best ones, it applies and just fits no matter where I am:

Lately I like this one a lot:

And others:

There are more, but I've probably already shared more than others' attention spans care for.

My favorite when things seem dim, "What A Friend We Have In Jesus"
Soothes my soul!

Love the last one. Amazing beautiful lyrics. Certainly brings our focus back to him.

My favorite when things seem dim, "What A Friend We Have In Jesus"
Soothes my soul!

1. What a friend we have in Jesus,
all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
all because we do not carry
everything to God in prayer.

2. Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged;
take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness;
take it to the Lord in prayer.

3. Are we weak and heavy laden,
cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge;
take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In his arms he'll take and shield thee;
thou wilt find a solace there.

Amazing to think Jesus is our friend, will never stop being our friend.

Jesus I pray that we would be a friend to others as you are to us.

We are old :)

I I remember the song and I'm not old. I'm 47 years young. Mind you I feel old now that my eldest son is 18 years old.

Do you remember 'Onward Christian Soldiers? I loved singing that one and that was before I gave my life to Jesus, I did beleive he was real though.

@Wrg1405 o yes i remember Onward Christian Soldiers. and many other older hymns...I am 69 years old and raised in church ... Some of the old beautiful hymns come to mind....

1. Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!
O what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
born of his Spirit, washed in his blood.
Refrain:
This is my story, this is my song,
praising my Savior all the day long;
this is my story, this is my song,
praising my Savior all the day long.

2. Perfect submission, perfect delight,
visions of rapture now burst on my sight;
angels descending bring from above
echoes of mercy, whispers of love.
(Refrain)

3. Perfect submission, all is at rest;
I in my Savior am happy and blest,
watching and waiting, looking above,
filled with his goodness, lost in his love.
(Refrain)

Along with the foot stomping... I'll fly away

When we all get to heaven what a day of rejoicing that will be when we all see Jesus we will sing and shout the victory..
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
At the cross at the cross where i first saw the light and burdens of my heart rolled away it was there by faith i received my sight
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Refrain

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

The history of many of these hymns are great testimonies

You can't beat the old Hymns

Amen! I'am 68, but people tells me that I look younger, but I'am glad that our Lord has preserved us. And about those spiritual hymns, & songs, they always becomes better when we are singing to the Lord. Like:

There Is A Fountain, Rock of Ages, How Great Thou Art, Amazing Grace, etc.

Years ago I had a finger picking guitar instrumental of this song on a cassette tape that would take me to heavenly places.

I remember all them songs, lol.
Brings back memories in the choir..

My dad played the guitar also, was in a duet, my Mom and oldest sister use to sing with him also.
Great memories...
Ps, he played acoustic and also electric, I remember it came in a case, with the amps embedded in the case..just fold it out and stand it up..

"Float your boat" is totally inappropriate in connection with worship. The Bible speaks of psalms, and hymns, and spiritual songs.

Christ Tomlin's acoustic praise and worship has been closing the gap between traditional church music and modern church music for me. I love acoustic guitar music, Chris Tomlin is over the top anointed, joined together with some modern tempos makes for some of the best worship music I've ever praised God with.

"Then you will look and be radiant, your heart will throb and swell with joy..." (Isaiah 60:5 NIV)
