Hi all,

have you heard of the latest heresy concerning the historical Jesus? According to the Italian scholar Francesco Carotta the historical Jesus was Gaius Julius Caesar. After his assassination Caesar was deified as Divus Julius becoming the highest God of the Roman empire (equated with Jupiter) and the cult surrounding him which permeated the whole empire, especially the east where many of his veterans had been settled, is the origin of what was later to become Christianity. The Gospel of Mark is a mutated retelling of the Roman civil war from the Rubicon until Caesar's murder and apotheosis (Jesus in Gallia at the Jordan until his "crucifixion" and resurrection). This is a fascinating discovery, for more information see http://www.carotta.de

Gee, it is kind of funny, isn't it? :D
But it certainly doesn't look like a joke or a hoax when you read the material and large parts of the book on that site.
So what are consequences of knowing that Jesus was not a Jew but a Roman?

Yeah' and Jimi Hendrix, just embarked on a world tour.

The real funny thing is that the discovery that the historical Jesus was Caesar is even endorsed by some clerics among them a Spanish Catholic priest who is working on the Spanish translation of the book.

this is not good.

In one non-christian religion I'm a bit familiar with Lucifer and Jesus are brothers. This is not the Jesus I know. When you know the true Christ a counterfeit becomes much easier to spot.

Don't forget that we are not talking about the Jesus of belief here but about the historical one. Read e.g. the afterword by the "devout Catholic" Erika Simon, an internationally renowned archaeologist here.
