Wow! 19 lb newborn

handy

A 19 lb baby was delievered by C-Section. (I'm guessing mom is thankful for modern medicine!) Apparantly the mother developed gestational diabetes and the baby became fat because his little pancreas was creating glucose.

Here he is besides a newborn of more normal proportions:

I couldn't even imagine having a baby that big inside me, especially the way my son was kicking the last few months. My preemie grandson who was born a couple weeks ago weighing only 3lbs 6oz would look like a tiny mouse next to this baby. :wink3

Sheesh! :crazy

At first reading the title of this thread I thought you were announcing the birth of a calf at your farm! :lol

:lol :yes

Talk about feeling bloated! poor woman!

Now she has to lift 19 lbs every two hours!

Whew!

By the time that baby is through with her that woman's going to be one heck of a strong one!

Do you think he will start to loose weight now? I can't imagine him putting on the normal weight that newbies put on! Surely he will slim down in the next few weeks? :crazy Imagine lifting 19 lbs of baby whilst healing from a C-section :crying

Hopefully, aye?

Pray she has help to get her through. Who knows what that did to the babies body type.

And hopefully when he starts to wiggle his arms and legs and starts to roll over and crawl on the floor that will help him along. Hope mum doesn't feed him too much. And hope Doctor's are good enough to watch and guide her towards getting baby back to normal weight in the process.

Say a prayer for them for timely healing for the both of them.... :pray

The birthweight of the baby was unhealthy. Anything beyond I think...11 pounds requires a c-section. Most mothers are adviced to watch what and how much they eat of certain things in the last six months. Think this is a good example of why. Always good to have a healthy sized baby......but this is overdoing it.
